Other reports of bombs on 9/11

I watched the news all day on 9/11 and distinctly remember a report about a car bomb outside the State Department - I never heard any mention of it again.

This video has been posted on YouTube on the back of the recent BBC/WTC7 controversy to question whether or not there was foreknowledge of the collapse of the Twin Towers. There is also the fascinating suggestion that the WTC website was being updated with analysis and technical information before the second tower collapsed. But as the clip draws to a close there are these reports:

'...a car bomb has exploded outside the state department in Washington...' from a senior law enforcement official - later attributed to A.P. and

'one has gone off in a shopping mall in the downtown area of Washington D.C.' later

'...there was a warning for further explosions...'

Where did these reports come from? Did these incidents happen?

Another thing that puzzled me Flamesong was in the 911 Naudet brothers DVD when there is a long distance shot of the twin towers taken from across the river after they have been hit and there is an isolated black smoke cloud in the far left of the shot miles away from the WTC. Does anyone have anymore information about this?
