"Who's watching you?" & "Coercion"

Just finished reading "Who's watching you?" by John Gibb (published in 2005) about our surveillance society: CCTV, data mining, ID cards, databases etc. It accepts the official version of events of 9/11, but is largely critical of what's been enacted in response: ID cards. Patriot Act, Iraq etc

Well worth a read.

On page 191, however, a chapter finishes with the rather chilling sentence:
"The only satifactory way of establishing our true credentials may eventually be to have a chip embedded beneath our skin, probably at birth."

Also...Have just started reading "Coercion" by Douglas Rushkoff, interesting take on techniques used by PR industry, advertising, religions, cults, governments - pretty much anyone who wishes to influence people.


Anyone else read either of these books?
