Just looking at the TV pages for tonight. Little on as usual, but guess what's on at 9pm on BBC2?

"Looking at an innovative technique for tackling fire in skyscrapers, this is a rather esoteric edition that you suspect would never have been made without the punch provided by 9/11 footage. Of 1,000 firefighters who attended the twin towers, one third were killed. A new system known as a fire grid could reduce fatalities and save buildings from collapse through the use of cameras and sensors that seal off areas and open and close doors and windows to contain the fire and allow the prediction of its progress."

Professor Jose Torero of the University of Edinburgh's Fire Safety Engineering Centre has spent the last 10 years developing a system that could change the way fires are fought. It's called Firegrid. Horizon examines the vision of one man who believes that the lessons of the Twin Towers on 9/11 have still not been learned, and that the safety of skyscrapers around the world is still fundamentally at risk.

The programme puts his new system to the test.


I don't know how they have the nerve to do this! Naomi Wolf writes an interesting but scary article in The Guardian today, entitled "Fascist America, in 10 easy steps. Oh, by the way, the Bush administration has passed legislation that ensures that all ten steps are now in place.

The new Horizon also, has been hijacked by the PTB, it has sunk to depths previously unplumbed by the BBC. Programs like "What if Dinosaurs hadnt gone Extinct" and "How to survive an Aircrash". Pseudo science rubbish.

No sign of any of the contemporaneous radio transcripts about isolated pockets of fire either.

It's 9.30pm. I don't know how the guy on the BBC2 9/11 WTC show keeps a straight face. I have used my remote control to get rid of the nonsense. Such a useful piece of technology, especially these days when we are invited to watch disingenuous nonsense like this. Is it possible that the Beeb feel that they're on the ropes, and fighting back! They won't win any battles with garbage like this!

When that bloke was showing his comuoter simulations the collapse did not occur, did anyone else pick that up.

Also near the end when he's in the helicopter above ground zero he says he still can't understand why the towers collapsed.

There was also mention of these collapses being the first in history.

Lack of Building 7 disappointing though. They could also have used their own clip of that BBC bloke being interviewed talking about the big boom from below after the planes hit.

Just get the BBC news readers in when a fires in its early stages, they will tell you when the buildings going to collapse way in advance, how they forcast that WTC7 would be collapsing from a fire in a waste bin was pretty amazing.

Yes, apparently they did. Sprinklers were installed, I think after the 1993 bombing. Also, the testimony of Rodriguez and all the other survivors who were not allowed to give evidence to the commission talks of the sprinklers in the basement. In fact, part of William's story is of helping two men to escape from DROWNING when they were trapped in a lift, as all the sprinkler water was flooding down the shaft.

The other thing that puzzles him is why the sprinklers went off in the basements, when the fire was at the top of the building. The sprinklers were localised - after all, there was no point in drenching the whole building and ruining all the computers and furniture, for a localised fire on a few floors.

This looks to me like a step in a drip-drip-drip reality revision.

Next step is every time there is a building fire it will be "lucky" it didn't collapse, because as we all know - fires can bring buildings down.
