This would, on the face of it, both serve to underpin the official tale and strengthen calls for a full inquiry.
It seems therefore a safe bet that an inquiry has no chance whatsover of materialising.

Of course the spies lie to government and the ISC - it's what David and I have been saying for years. Why is this news?
Perhaps members of the ISC might finally wake up to the fact they are the laughing stock of MI5 and MI6 for thinking that they have a clue about what's really going on inside the spy agencies.

Well said, Annie.
This case seems to be the spooks undermining the ISC (and Blair) publically. The Murdoch agenda seems to be to dump Blair.
