most importantly a dry day
Quite alot I'd say as sound is all important! Most advertising in public places just have visuals to capture a passer by then a sales team to do the work!
cheapest would probably be a Projector and screen but then you need to keep the sun off. Would be a good Idea but incredibly expensive unless you already had half the kit! _________________ 'Come and see the violence inherent in the system.

Projector hire in Lancaster & Morecambe is around £150 a day.
You know I've got a projector and screen which I've said you can use.. the only thing I don't have is a car, which you do!
You also need some shade over the screen to get a better picture, speakers (got sub woofer), a small generator, (as I've already said they are around £50-75 on ebay, but I can borrow one), a laptop or dvd player (have the laptop but could do with a fully charged backup, most only have 2 hour battery, so the more the better). _________________ RINF Alternative News and Media

The only way I can think of doing it is by back projection, like they do on the big screens in the stadiums. |
Not sure how to set that up ... do you know?
We could use a gazebo, stick the screen, projector and speakers inside and cover the back and sides with sheets. Who owns the one the Cumbria group had a while back?
Or we could just set up a small TV and DVD player.. like one of those dodgy knife stalls _________________ RINF Alternative News and Media

Maybe hire a box van and make up some boarding to suround the screen to look like a solid wall maybe even inset the speakers into it too! Or even a trailer for that matter
In fact I'd guess people wouldn't mind donating a few quid to fund a professional looking trailer arrangement that could then spend its life travelling the country (driver permitting of course )
This is the kind I mean

That's a top idea disco, cheers.
A friend also suggested using a van, with the projector on the inside and the screen where the doors are, could be the best option.
I like the van box idea too but £3225.00 for the cheapest one.. youch. You'd need to make somewhere between 200 - 300 quid a month, every month, for a year to break even.
This time next year Rodney ... _________________ RINF Alternative News and Media

I still don't think funding would be too much effort, all people need is a clear direction and plan to back and I'd like to think at least most activists would fund something that would reach a wide audience.
The difficulty in such an idea is who should look after it and where its stored etc. and who would control other group members use of the item
lol I only put a link for ideas sake after all you can get a good van for that There is also the show tent approach but then you'd need permission to pitch it I wonder how many Bootsale Owners are Truth Friendly? _________________ 'Come and see the violence inherent in the system.

That looks ideal apart from the hefty wagon needed to tow it. This is the kind of stand that would find a welcome appearance at all but a few corporate music festivals _________________ 'Come and see the violence inherent in the system.

I don't think the projector problem should really be a factor, it would be nice but the aim is to spread the message and we can do that without much hassle or spending more cash. We've got loads of material to give out and can draw attention to the stall by using a small tv and dvd player.
If the car boots work out, then invest in more gear but right now I'm struggling to pay for the last 3 events. I won't complain if you contribute with more kit though Steve.
I think we should stop talking about it and just do it, let me know which weekends you are free and I'll book it asap. _________________ RINF Alternative News and Media

How about using a cheap gazebo for shade or a canopy.
Pester your local Audio / Video Event Productions companies for some sympathy and loan / subsidised kit. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

This is an initiative we've been waiting for someone to take. If you get the equipment, it will be worthwhile using it for multiple meetings around the country. Lancaster/Cumbria could do it locally and then move it on to say W Yorks where others can arrange a screening and so on. I would say central funds should be used for such a travelling roadshow. I know we haven't got such funds, but maybe folk could contibute for this project or borrow funds. Sales of books and DVDs should eventually cover the cost. Don't give them away; charge a reasonable rate which will ensure purchasers view the DVDs and read the books.
Good luck with it. |
