We all know Jane Standley's report from New York went off screen just before the collapse of WTC7 and we ,of course, have our suspicions why! Surely breakdowns in transmission are logged and investigated, do we not have a right to see that investigation as licence payers or under FOI or similar? |

I doubt it Sheriton.
And even if they were logged and even if we were entitled to see the records, they'd probably be lost.
On the subject of no TV . . .
I sent an email into Sky News just about the time that the IPCC Climate Change (Summary) Report hit the headlines.
I worked out the average daily consumption of Megawatts used by Sky's x million viewers, based on audited viewing figures and average TV power consumption.
At a time when we are being implored to turn stuff off, I asked Sky if they were prepared to do their bit and help us by turning their transmissions off for say, a few hours a week.
I didn't get a reply.
This, I feel could be a very revealing tack to take when mirroring back the sermons to the meeju about saving the planet.
In fact we should try to enlist the support of Monbiot et al to invoke a complete media free day in an effort to save the planet.
Stop the printing presses, radio, TV and all transmissions for 1 day a year to start with.
We could probably do without a couple of power stations.
This could evolve into a popular peoples climate change & anti corporate day that could extend to a no government day.
That way the planet would benefit from complete political silence and a massive fall in CO2 from their lying, well fed faces.
Turn up the volume. Strike out the noise.
Their deafening silence will tell you all you need to know.
Oh, and respect to Disco for abstaining. Nice one. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |
