05Jul07 NAJAF, Iraq - Followers of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr on Thursday joined a growing chorus of Sunni, Kurdish and Shiite opposition to a draft oil law approved by Iraq's cabinet and backed by the US government. Sadr's supporters said they would not support any law that would allow firms 'whose governments are occupying Iraq' -- a reference to the US, Britain and their coalition allies -- to sign Iraqi oil deals. As all factions in Iraq unite to fight the new oil law somebody is trying to divide them.

Car bomb kills 17 in Baghdad

At least 17 Iraqi people, including several children, have been killed as a car bomb exploded at a wedding party in southern Baghdad.

Security and defense officials said 25 people including bride and groom had been wounded in the attack.

The blast occurred outside the Al-Baghdadi cafe in Abu Tchir, a mainly Shia neighborhood.

Security forces have launched a major military operation in and around Baghdad in a bid to end violence in the country.

They have walled off popular markets, closed streets and increased the number of checkpoints to thwart attacks.

Earlier, a car bomb exploded in a popular market in Baghdad, had killed at least 11 people and wounded more than 33 in the district of Binoog.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki went before the media on Tuesday to announce that his cabinet had “unanimously” approved US-backed draft legislation covering the future development of Iraq’s vast oil resources. The parliament, he declared, would begin debating the oil law the following day. He trumpetted his achievement as a key step towards finalising the “most important law in Iraq”.

Well I would have said IDF but now the US grunts seem to have been similarly indoctrinated. Who would elect to go and kill people anyway? Forces must have a high % of closet psychopaths.
