Read the following letter by Mark Thompson, the Director-General of the BBC, to all BBC employees very carefully. Everyone who calls himself or herself a 9/11 Truth Activist must contact him in the next 24 hours to make him aware of our disgust at the way the Conspiracy Files programme on 9/11 aired earlier this year in February was deliberately written and presented to dishonestly mislead the general public.

Challenge him politely but firmly to look here http://www.infowars.com/articles/sept11/bbc_hit_piece_tissue_of_lies.h tm and at David and Adrian's excellent and detailed rebuttal of the programme and to ask him to show this documentary (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1882365905982811133) on mainstream BBC television in order to balance this dreadful piece of biased and dishonest journalism.

I believe his email address is: mark.thompson@bbc.co.uk and the BBC's tel. no. at Television Centre is 0208 743 8000.

Please act in the next 24 hours to make sure he acts to put right the damage done by this dishonest piece of garbage journalism - Tim Sparke of Mercury Media has already written to him but we need many more of us to write and ring in to make our voice heard.

Action this day!

Thanks

Justin

Dear colleagues,

This is an email which is particularly addressed to everyone who works in programme and content parts of the BBC, but I thought it was important that everyone who works in the organisation should see it.

As you will know, there have been a number of incidents - recent problems related to phone use including the controversy over Blue Peter and, in the last few days, the incorrect and misleading edit of Her Majesty the Queen in the BBC One seasonal launch tape - which defy our values and threaten the precious relationship of trust between the BBC and our audiences. We cannot take that trust for granted.

The vast majority of you ensure our TV, radio and interactive content is accurate, fair and complies with our own clear editorial guidelines and Ofcom's code. We cannot allow even a small number of lapses, whether intentional or as a result of sloppiness, to undermine our reputation and the confidence of the public.

Even before the most recent issue involving the Queen, I had asked the Directors of Vision, Journalism and Audio & Music to work with their senior editorial and creative teams to identify any further issues or incidents of serious intentional or unintentional deception of the audience.

I am writing to you today to ask you to help and support this process in any way you can. If you know of any further incident, please let us know.
Next Wednesday I will be delivering a full report to the BBC Trust. After that, I will write to you again to set out the action that I and the Executive Board intend to take to minimise the risk of anything like these totally unacceptable incidents ever happening again. The vital first step is to ensure that we know about every problem that's out there.

Nothing matters more for us than honesty, accuracy and fair dealing with the audience. We must now put our house in order. We need your help to enable us to do that as swiftly and as comprehensively as possible. I know I can count on your support.

Hello Justin,

As you know most emails get bounced as spam.
It would be better to actually write to OFCOM and complain to them in writing by post.
That way they have to act and they have to take action. You cannot expect or hope for the BBc to police itself. OFCOM will do it and if they get over a thousand letters of complaint abou the same thing then guaranteed heads at the BBC will roll.

OFCOM says:
Quote:
We've tried to make it as simple as possible to give us information online. Every online form sent to us via the website is read in full and considered for further investigation, if required.

OFCOM can also deal with complaints by phone between 0900 and 1730, Monday to Friday. For most people it is faster and easier to complain using the online forms in this section of the website. But if you'd prefer to call us, the number for the Ofcom Contact Centre is 020 7981 3040. Our fax number is 020 7981 3334.

Sorry i am barking up the wrong tree. OFCOM do not handle complaints about the BBC, i have just read all the conditions for filing a complaint.

Did you copy and paste that e-mail directly, Justin?

Because it appears to suffer from the same questionable editing that it purports to address.

Anyway, I fired off an e-mail with correctly edited quoted text - just in case.

I cocked up the pasting - here it is as sent to me:

OFCOM do not handle complaints about the BBC, all complaints are dealt with directly with the BBC. OFCOM is funded by the commercial tv stations and these are who it regulates.

This from Tim Sparke at Mercury Media.

I urge you to consider responding to this request to contact the BBC. Thank you...

Attached is a letter written to Mark Thompson, Director General of The BBC in response to his request to 'root out serious incidents of deception of the BBC audience'. You may be aware that the BBC attempted to deceive the public about HM Queen Elizabeth last week by suggesting she stormed out of a photo-shoot, which she did not -- and he has been asked to investigate if there have been any other incidents which he should know about.

I believe the broadcast of the BBC Conspiracy Files film was a deliberate deception of the audience and I have sent him the BBC5 film produced recently for him to watch as a rebuttal against the original film.

Please encourage your readers and supporters to write to him requesting an investigation into the BBC 911 Conspiracy Film:
Mark Thompson
Director General, BBC
201 Wood Lane
London W12 7TQ

Or, email him on mark.thompson@bbc.co.uk

I spoke to his office today and was promised that they will investigate the claims we make against the film. My aim is to get the rebuttal film broadcast...which would crack open the whole 9/11 story to a world-wide audience.

You can email people with my letter if you wish.

With kind regards

Dear Mark

RE: Serious Intentional Deception Of The Audience

You may remember me, from your days at Channel 4, where I distributed the Sorious Samura series of films that you commissioned.

The reason I am writing to you today is in response to your recent published request to ‘root out incidents of serious intentional deception of the audience’.

The film ‘The Conspiracy Files’ broadcast in February this year on BBC2 and then later on BBC4 and BBC World, concerning the 9/11 ‘Conspiracy’ was in my opinion, and many others, an unambiguous attempt, by producer Guy Smith, to deliberately deceive viewers regarding the veracity of the claims of the 9/11 truth movement. It was also an attempt to paint its members as assorted ‘goof-balls’, ‘evangelists’ ‘drop-outs’ and ‘anti-semites’ when in actual fact our supporters include 500 family members and survivors, academics, physicists, architects, engineers, law enforcement officials, military officers, pilots and other professionals eminently qualified to question the official story of 9/11 – www.patriotsquestion911.com <http://www.patriotsquestion911.com/> . Check out who we are by going to the site and reading the testimony of some of these people.

Rather than set out the dozens of incidents of deception in the programme that we have found, we have produced a rebuttal DVD, which sets out the incidents of deception in a coherent fashion, juxtaposing the film’s shortcomings against verifiable and publicly available evidence.

However the basic charge against the film-makers and the BBC as broadcaster is as follows:

The Conspiracy Files film sets a very dangerous precedent: that it is somehow acceptable for the BBC to whip up hatred against minority activist groups; that it is acceptable for the BBC to undermine historical truth and that is acceptable for the BBC to undermine faith in the public record. By presenting a selective and distorted view of the 9/11 evidence the BBC took a particular view on a highly controversial matter of enormous public interest and importance. This is in clear contravention of its guidelines, and an utterly immoral deception of the public.

We are seeking suitable redress for the serious intentional deception that happened as a result of the broadcast of the BBC Conspiracy films programme. We would request that if an independent body finds that there is provable incidence of serious deception, you do the honourable thing and allow us the opportunity to rebut the original film by acquiring our film and broadcasting it on BBC2 in a similar slot. We would also request that we be given the same promotional campaign as given to your original film with trailers on both radio, TV and online, a press campaign and follow up phone in programmes. (Our film is available to watch on google video and so far half a million people have viewed it).

We want to trust the BBC again – as for the most part it is a trustworthy organization dedicated to serving the needs of its licence fee payers. However on this occasion, the BBC fell short of its charter and Guy Smith is guilty of the most outrageous deception. My sense is that once you, your colleagues and the BBC Trust see our film you will agree, and you will take appropriate action.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Great letter by Tim hope that he keeps us informed.

I contacted the Mark Thompson number but got provided wth another BBC number to contact.

Only effective action imho is to organise a spontaneous refund request of BBC customers licence fees once the 911 truth movement has attained critical mass.

The BBC state that this issue is going to be addressed at ESC's September meeting, but they also say a large number of complaints are scheduled for that meeting and there is a possibility that it may fall to the 2nd October meeting instead.

In other words they're busy using licence fee payers money to make up excuses so they won't have to deal with the rot, rot, rot.

I just received a response from Richard Carey at the BBC. For completion have included my initial e-mail and my subsequent reply.
I wrote:
Dear Mr. Thompson,

The e-mail below was forwarded to me because it highlights your attention to recent failings in BBC policy and its Royal Charter.

It's a pity that similar attention was not paid to the poorly researched documentary, The Conspiracy Files: 9/11, which was broadcast early this year and was clearly intended to debunk the growing concerns about the reliability of the official account of what happened on September 11th 2001.

It did so only insofar as it creatively selected evidence and disregarded the research of a great and growing number of academics as well as politicians and senior members of the military and security services.

If you sincerely care about your public image and the trust which people bestow upon you perhaps you should take a look at the evidence which suggests that the producers of this documentary have neglected fundamental principles of objectivity presented in this online video:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1882365905982811133

You ought not turn a blind eye to this. If you take a look at this link you will see that it will soon have been viewed by half a million people online alone. It it due for release on DVD in the near future.

You may not find time to reply, Mr. Thompson but I sincerely hope you will give this matter you attention.

Kind regards

[quoted e-mail above]
Richard Carey wrote:
Dear Mr.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding '9/11: the Conspiracy Files'

I appreciate that feel this programme was unbalanced.

Mike Rudin, Producer of '9/11: the Conspiracy Files' addressed viewers concerns in the following news blog:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2007/02/conspiracy_on_conspiracy .html

Further, the programme twice mentioned the fact that relatives of those who died found the continuing questioning of every aspect of 9/11 distressing. The programme-makers talked to relatives of those who died and to people living in the vicinity of the attacks who have met them. It was clear that there was a widely-held view that the continued questioning of every aspect of what happened on 9/11 was distressing to the relatives and that it made it difficult for them to reach closure.

In investigating the many questions raised about what exactly happened on 9/11, it was felt important to reflect and hear the feelings and concerns of some of the relatives of those who died. We are sorry you feel the programme was offensive to those who question the official story of what happened or deceptive to the viewers - this was never the intention.

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback and let me assure you that your complaint has been fully registered on our daily audience log. This internal document will be made available to the production team and Senior BBC Management.

Once again thank you for taking the time to contact the BBC with your views.

Regards

Richard Carey
BBC Information
Quote:
Dear Mr. Carey,

With all due respect to the relatives of those who suffered on 9/11, the programme was not promoted as an investigation into their feelings - it was promoted as an investigation into the events themselves. Your referral to the feelings of the relatives is both contemptible and dishonest. Contemptible because you attempt to use sentimentality to whitewash over countless unanswerable questions and dishonest because many of the victims families support the campaign for an independent inquiry.

For many people the growing distrust of the BBC comes as no surprise and glib responses to concerns only emphasise how untrustworthy the BBC has become. I was one of the million-plus who marched on 15th February 2003 who came home to watch a recording of News 24 which claimed that there were less than 100,000. I subsequently joined thousands who demonstrated outside the BBC offices in London and Manchester - though the BBC failed to acknowledge this in any of its news bulletins.

Information control is mind control, Mr. Carey. You may choose to look at this from whatever angle is most comfortable but you cannot escape the fact that the management of news is propaganda.

Regards

Here's what they say, but I never mentioned WTC 7 and will of course make an appeal.

Quote:
Your request falls outside the scope of the Act because the BBC and the other public service broadcasters are covered by the Act only in respect of information held for purposes “other than those of journalism, art or literature” (see Schedule I, Part VI of the Act). We are not therefore obliged to supply information held for the purposes of creating the BBC’s output or information that supports and is closely associated with these creative activities. Information which is not subject to disclosure under the Act because of Schedule I might otherwise be exempt from disclosure because of the application of other provisions of the Act.
As an aside, you may be interested to know that we have received several similar requests relating to this and the notion that the BBC has been part of any conspiracy is patently ludicrous. We reported the situation as accurately as we could, based on the best information available. We cannot be categorical about the exact timing of events that day - this is the first time it has been brought to our attention and it was more than five years ago. If in the chaos and confusion of that day our correspondent reported that the building had collapsed before it had done so, it would have been a genuine error. We have published an editor’s blog, written by Richard Porter (Head of News, BBC World) which is available at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/richard_porter/
For more information about how the Act applies to the BBC please see www.bbc.co.uk/foi. Please note that this guidance is not intended to be a comprehensive legal interpretation of how the Act applies to the BBC.
The BBC makes a huge range of information available about our programmes and content on bbc.co.uk. We also proactively publish information covered by the Act on our publication scheme and regularly handle requests for information under the Act.
The BBC does not offer an internal review when the information requested is not covered by the Act. If you disagree with our decision you can appeal to the Information Commissioner. Contact details are: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF telephone 01625 545 700. http://www.ico.gov.uk

Yeah I got the same Beeb response to my letter (pasted somewhere else on this board) - the hypocrisy of it - dragging up the Victims again, whilst totally ignoring the fact that a majority of the survivors are clamoring for an Impartial 9/11 Inquiry!

I was invited to air my concerns on that ridiculously censored thread at the Beeb - needless to say, they didn't post my response...
