i started this thread purely because some were talking about bob marley
in the other thread.

if this does not fit in then please delete the thread, i just thought it would be good to share lyrics(wisdom) that we feel hold an important message and inspire us to change.

there have been many a great atrist some of which none of us have heard of who give us wisdom and inspiration to change, please share your lyrics you feel hold truth and wisdom and that inspire you.

with the times we are living in i feel this song to hold a important message.

chours x2
murderer blood is on your shoulders
kill i today you cannot kill i tomorrow
murderer! your insides must be hollow
how does it fell to take the life of another

yes, you can hide from man but not your conscience
you eat the bread of sorrow
drink the wine of violence
allow yourself to be conquered by the serpent
why did you disobey the first commandment
walk through the valley i fear no pestilence
god is my witness and he is my evidence
lift up mine eyes from whence cometh help
you will never escape this judgement

chours

i tell you, all man are created equal
but behind the trigger it's a differant sequel
some are murdering people just to collect medals
stop committing dirty acts for the high officals
you could wash your hands untill you can't wash them anymore
it is like an epidemic and you won't find a cure
upper class you could be rich, middle class whether you are poor
only the righteous won't feel insecure
have you ever thought about your skill getting bored

chours

drinking sulphur bitters won't be bitter like your end
only god can help you, no family or friend
don't let the curse be upon your children's children
abednigo, shadreck, meshek, daniel in the den
janah in the whale's belly, but he was never condemned
job with the leprosy, and he still reached heaven
he will do for you everything he has done for them

buju banton.

also a few lyrics from another as i cannot work out all the lyrics.

them a looting and shooting and a killing on the rampage, when will it cease
killing mother and farther and innocent people, mercy please
them a looting and shooting and a killing on the rampage, when will it cease
killing mother and farther and innocent children, mercy please

is there no love within your heart
hey mr man with the automatic
sometimes you think before you walk
when trouble come your way no good sidestepping
don't please your ego you may regret it
for all the blood that is shed who is responsible
who get big machine and gun little people
who is mr brown sitting at pinicle
we all would like to know sign or show.

buju banton.

sorry two more that i think hold truth.

while im living
thanks i'll be giving
to the most high, you know

chorus
i am living while i'm living to the father i will pray
only he knows how we get through every day
with all the hike in the price
arm and leg we have to pay
while our leaders play

all i see is people ripping and robbing and grabbing...
theif never love to see a theif with a long bag,
no love for the people who are suffering real bad
another toll to the poll may god help we soul
what is to stop the youths from getting out of control
filled up with education yet don't own a payroll
the cloths on my back has countless eye holes

chorus

could go on and on the full has never been told

chorus

i say who can afford to run will run
but what about those who can't...they will have to stay
opportunity is scare commodity
in these times i say...when mama spend her last to send you to class...
never you ever play

it's a competitive world for low budget people
spending the dime while earning the nickel
with no regards to who it may tickle
my cup is full to the brim

chorus

could go on and on the full has never been told

though this life keep getting me down
don't give up now
got to survive someway some how

chorus

buju banton

and...

it's real as it seem
don't you live an illusion
and don't you ever try to live a dream

chorus.
buju say how can you rise up every living day
telling yourself everything is ok
when you look at life you'll see it slipping away
lord knows who feels it every day

those who cry for the poor get neglected, rejected, put to death
how much more will we take?
did your farther work of his shirt, blood sweat and tears
don't tell me that you forget
being oppressed by the oppressors, all differant types of stress
for the sorrows of the poor, they don't even care less
refuse to deal with world atrocities, civil unrest
instead they're building penitentiaries as big as a birds nest
saying we are to blame whatever the mess

chorus.

some say, how you doing? they want to know if we are fine
not untill we reposses what is rightfully mine
sitting down for so long we do believe it is time
everyone is entitled to food at mealtime
til then, we'll struggle for rights, no more racial fights
degradation to the highest heights
all obstacles as a people we have to cross
with health and strenght we all can get across
happenings of yesterday are just a thing of the past

chorus

don't cry little ones, wipe your tears, sing my song
though we're in a strange land, with evil ones
help the weak if you're strong, iron sharpens iron
when you're down take a look at where the help is coming from
what about the masterminds with the foolproof plans

chorus

My favourite lyrics of Bob's is the Babylon System.

BABYLON SYSTEM.

We REFUSE to be, what YOU want us to be,
we are what we are,
thats the way its going to be
you cant educate I for no equal opportunity,
talking about my FREEDOM,
PEOPLE FREEDOM AND LIBERTY,

We been trodding on the winepress much too long,
REBEL,REBEL.

BABYLON SYSTEM IS THE VAMPIRE,
BUILDING CHURCH AND UNIVERSITY,
DECEIVING THE PEOPLE CONTINUALLY,

ME SAY THEM GRADUATING THEIVES AND MURDERS,
LOOK OUT NOW, SUCKING THE BLOOD OF THE SUFFERES.

now we know everthing we got to rebel, rebel.

The press and media all waited in ambush to declare that Bob was a drug taker and trying to smear all Rastafarians as criminals, and the way Bob handled them was pure magic, you smoke marijuana the media hissed, they cruxified christ for being a christian came the reply, Cool Cool , the reporters face was a classic as he tried to digest Bobs answers, and crime was here before the rastas came he replied smoothly.

its no coincidence that the natural herb marijuana has almost been eradicated and replaced with super potent hybrid forms, inducing psychotic behaviour. We wouldant want the people becoming enlightened with the naturally grown herb now would we?

bob marley is the best and always spoke the wisest words of wisdom.

here are some more words of wisdom, but more domestic than worldwide,
this song kept me on the straight and narrow, and was always what i thought of in any situation where i was given an oppertunity to do bad through my younger years as i always thought about who it would effect thanks to this song. its also got me through depressing times, the words ya gotta keep ya head up apply to any situation and a lot of the logic in the song can be applied to most situations also male or female. this song should be taught in schools with the problems society has today.

2 pac knew women and children are our future, and if you mess that up the problems continue, a part of the change starts with us, but also points out how ghetto's are systems set up to fail and the change is in you even though no help is coming from the top.

2pac - Keep Ya Head Up Lyrics

Little somethin for my godson Elijah and a little girl named Corinne

[Verse One:]

Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots
I give a holler to my sisters on welfare
Tupac cares, and don't nobody else care
And uhh, I know they like to beat ya down a lot
When you come around the block brothas clown a lot
But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up
Forgive but don't forget, girl keep your head up
And when he tells you you ain't nuttin don't believe him
And if he can't learn to love you you should leave him
Cause sista you don't need him
And I ain't tryin to gas ya up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy (what's that)
When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up

[Chorus]

Keep ya head up, oooo child things are gonna get easier
ooooo child things are gonna get brighter [2x]

[Verse Two:]

Aiyyo, I remember Marvin Gaye, used to sing ta me
He had me feelin like black was tha thing to be
And suddenly tha ghetto didn't seem so tough
And though we had it rough, we always had enough
I huffed and puffed about my curfew and broke the rules
Ran with the local crew, and had a smoke or two
And I realize momma really paid the price
She nearly gave her life, to raise me right
And all I had ta give her was my pipe dream
Of how I'd rock the mic, and make it to tha bright screen
I'm tryin to make a dollar out of fifteen cents
It's hard to be legit and still pay tha rent
And in the end it seems I'm headin for tha pen
I try and find my friends, but they're blowin in the wind
Last night my buddy lost his whole family
It's gonna take the man in me to conquer this insanity
It seems tha rain'll never let up
I try to keep my head up, and still keep from gettin wet up
You know it's funny when it rains it pours
They got money for wars, but can't feed the poor
Say there ain't no hope for the youth and the truth is
it ain't no hope for tha future
And then they wonder why we crazy
I blame my mother, for turning my brother into a crack baby
We ain't meant to survive, cause it's a setup
And even though you're fed up
Huh, ya got to keep your head up

[Chorus]

[Verse Three:]

And uhh
To all the ladies havin babies on they own
I know it's kinda rough and you're feelin all alone
Daddy's long gone and he left you by ya lonesome
Thank the Lord for my kids, even if nobody else want em
Cause I think we can make it, in fact, I'm sure
And if you fall, stand tall and comeback for more
Cause ain't nuttin worse than when your son
wants to kno why his daddy don't love him no mo'
You can't complain you was dealt this
hell of a hand without a man, feelin helpless
Because there's too many things for you to deal with
Dying inside, but outside you're looking fearless
While tears, is rollin down your cheeks
Ya steady hopin things don't all down this week
Cause if it did, you couldn't take it, and don't blame me
I was given this world I didn't make it
And now my son's getten older and older and cold
From havin the world on his shoulders
While the rich kids is drivin Benz
I'm still tryin to hold on to my survivin friends
And it's crazy, it seems it'll never let up, but
please... you got to keep your head up
