Police arrest two after chemical find
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=1134402007

LONDON (Reuters) - Police said on Friday they had arrested two men under anti-terrorism laws after finding two containers marked "hydrogen peroxide", the chemical used in the 2005 suicide bombings in London.

Police found the two 25 litre vessels in a flat in the southwestern city of Bristol, which they were searching as part of a drugs inquiry.

"If it turns out to be 50 litres of industrial strength hydrogen peroxide, then clearly there are some questions to answer," Steve Mortimore, Assistant Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said. "We've got one man from Afghanistan and one man from Somalia."

The chemical has been taken away for forensic tests.

From Avon & Somerset Police:

Quote:
Two men have been arrested under the Terrrorism Act 2006 in Bristol.

At 10pm on Wednesday July 18 a man was arrested in the Castle Park area of Bristol on suspicion of drugs-related offences.

Following that arrest, police conducted a search of an address in Stapleton Road.

During that search police found a substance has led them to believe there may be a potential link to terrorist activity and a further thorough search has been initiated.

The substance will need to be the subject of a full forensic analysis.

The man, of Afghan origin. has therefore also been arrested under the Terrorist Act 2006 and is being held at a police station in the Avon and Somerset force area.

Further investigations have led to the arrest of a second man.

===============================================

Exquisite timing once again.

Just as the wonderfully independent CPS announce it has decided not to prosecute anyone under the Cash for Honours investigation, Hydrogen Peroxide and domestic terrorism hit the headlines once again.

Announcements made today (20072007) for arrests made 2 days ago ?

1st arrest made on 18.7.2007 at 10pm for drugs offences

Re-arrested under TACT 2006 as a result of a subsequent search. When ?

2nd man arrested. When ?

Either way, it's 9 days and 11 months since 10.8.2006

Today marks 1 day and 19o weeks since alleged shoe bomber Sajid Badat, who, naturally is alleged to have lost his passport in Belgium on 9/11, was arrested in nearby Gloucester on 27.11.2003, where, naturally, 119 homes were evacuated, which, naturally, was 11 days and 19 months before 7.7.5

Sajid Badat was born on 28.3.1979 and was, naturally, arrested on the 9o11 th day of his life.

Sajid Badat's alleged co-conspirator in the alleged shoe bomb plot of Flight AA63 was Richard Reid.

Reid was arrested on 22.12.2001 and pleaded guilty on 17.1.2003 after an interval of, naturally, 9 months and 11 days.

Reid was convicted on 30.1.2003, that is, 1 year, 1 month and the 9th day of his arrest, and, naturally, on the 119th day of his guilty plea.

The July 18 Bristol arrest also comes 1 day and 19 months after Sajid Badat was designated a terrorist by the US on 16.12.2005

Oh and 20072007, naturally, also marks 911 days since the GVI began his 2nd term as global dictator in chief.

Still, probably all just a coincidence.

We must all be more vigilant in the search for hair dye chemicals. Yeah right!

There have been loads of high-profile arrests but hardly any terror convictions here in Britain. The most recent was the so-called chaptti flour bombers in London, highly dubious conviction.

Personally I don't trust the anti-terror police to invetigate anything because even if they shhotand kill people they are not held to acount. Even when they do put together a decent case they're blocked by the crown prosecution service from bringing the evidence to court.

This kind of police operation may just be motivated by racism and carried out to convince the public to hate and fear Muslims.

Remember innocent until proven guilty and let's wait to see if there's anything whatsoever to it.

TWO suspected terrorists have been arrested in Bristol.
One man is from Afghanistan and police believe a substance found in the Easton flat where he was living could potentially be used to make a bomb.
Initial investigations led to the arrest of a second man whose nationality has not been revealed. Both were detained under the Terrorism Act 2006 and can now be held for 28 days for questioning.
They were being held at an unnamed police station (which is almost certainly Staple Hill which is the best equpped to terrify suspects - ed.) last night.
The first arrest was made at 10pm on Wednesday night in Castle Park.
A police officer on patrol saw a man, believed to be in his early 20s, acting suspiciously and searched him. Chemicals believed to be illegal drugs were found on him and he was arrested and taken to a police station. Police officers then carried out a search of the flat where he was living in Stapleton Road, which is above Easton Community Partnership but not linked to the organisation.
A substance thought to be hydrogen peroxide, which can be used in bomb-making, was found in the flat.
Avon and Somerset force spokesman Darren Bane said: "During the search police found a substance that has led them to believe there may be a potential link to terrorist activity and a further thorough search has been initiated.
"The substance will need to be the subject of a full forensic analysis.
"The man, of Afghan origin, has therefore been arrested under the Terrorism Act 2006 and is being held at a police station in the Avon and Somerset force area.
"Further investigations have led to the arrest of a second man.
"Our top priority is public safety and while this incident does not involve a specific threat to anybody, police are undertaking an extensive investigation.
"Officers will be speaking to community leaders in the Stapleton Road area to provide information and reassurance."
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Mortimore said: "This investigation is in its very early stages and we hope to clarify the situation at the earliest possible opportunity.
"Our message to the public for some time now has been that while we don't want people to be unduly afraid, everyone should be aware of the potential risks and be vigilant.
"Yesterday's police activity is strong reassurance to our communities that Avon and Somerset Police will swiftly and effectively act upon any potential risk to public safety.
"We always endeavour to keep disruption to local people to a minimum and we appreciate the community's co-operation."

BBC just reported that the "substance" thought to have been Hydrogen Peroxide that was allegedly stored in two containers allegedly labelled Hydrogen Peroxide was, in fact, vegetable oil.

Still, best that the plod alerted everyone in the land before they bothered to unscrew the caps and take a sniff eh.

I mean, if they'd have thought to rub the containers and make a wish, they may have seen the magic genie Osama emerge into the mist.

He-he, makes the police look ludicrous, doesn't it?

Notice. however, how Murdoch's empire choose to report this, nothing whatsoever mentioned about 'vegetable oil'. Who says the media are not brainwashing us?

Terror Suspects released - Update
http://bristol.indymedia.org/newswire.php?story_id=26606
Avon and Somerset Police statement

This press statement from Avon and Somerset Police on the release of two Bristol "terror suspects".
LIQUID found in two 25-litre containers in a Bristol flat is NOT hydrogen peroxide, despite the labels on the containers.
A forensic analysis by a Home Office scientist has concluded that the substance inside the containers is an oil-based liquid which is not dangerous.
Investigations are still taking place to ascertain how those containers came to be at that location and where they had come from.
The two people arrested under terrorism legislation – a man originally from Afghanistan in his 20s and a Somalian in his early 50s - have been released without charge.
The Afghan man has been bailed in connection with allegations of possession of class A drugs and theft.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary's Assistant Chief Constable Steve Mortimore said: "I would like to thank the local community for their invaluable assistance during this time, and particularly for remaining so calm.
"We made sure that we quickly consulted with and informed the local community of what was going on, because public safety and public reassurance has been uppermost in our minds since this incident began on Wednesday night.
"We are very grateful for the positive response and support we have received from the community, and are proud of the strong relationships we continue to develop with local people.
"We are going to be meeting with community representatives in the city tomorrow (Saturday) to provide them with a further full briefing.
"I am sure that many people were very concerned when they became aware that two people had been arrested in Bristol under terrorism legislation – and that is quite understandable.
"I am satisfied that the police response to this incident was entirely appropriate in all the circumstances.
"When we found two containers labelled with hydrogen peroxide, we clearly had to take that very seriously, and an intensive operation began to try to establish exactly what we were dealing with.
"As recent events in London and Glasgow demonstrated, the terrorist threat in the UK is very real, and it is important that every one remains alert to that threat.
"I hope that the public will be reassured that Avon and Somerset Police is vigilant to the threat, and that the force is ready and able to act swiftly and effectively if any potential terrorist risk comes to light.
"All such issues are taken extremely seriously and investigated thoroughly.
"This whole operation has demonstrated some highly professional, vigilant, positive policing, as well as demonstrating the growing strength of our relationships with the communities we serve.
"Once again, I thank everyone for their co-operation during what has been a very intense few days."

Chapati flour, vegetable oil, peroxide.

Potential bomb making factories doubling as asian and middle eastern restaurants/fast food gaffs. look out for the dyed blonde haired muslims, who seem quick to sell an abundance of freshly made chapatis in veggie oil.

I'm sure as the assistant chief constable morrision says, the people of avon and somerset can sleep safely in the knowledege that his keystones cop brigade is defeating the terrorists.

I would hope the owners of restaurants in his area keep an eye out for him if he decides to dine at their establishments, and serve him a house special, as a reward for his vigilance and honesty.

these guys were obviously racially profiled.
Arrest anyone from certain backgrounds, then shake them down and see what you find.
Hair dye, chapathi flour, a Koran and bingo you have a terrorist bang to rights.
What has become of our human rights or innocent until proven guilty?

Meanwhile on the other side of the pond on the very same day 20072007 while we were having our veggie oil scare in Bristol, the good people of the USA were subjected to a "cheese bomb on aircraft scare" all over their news.

Are these by any chance coordinated attacks on our consciousness ?

Nah, that would be just another conspiracy theory.

I'm asking myself, why would a terrorist even consider taking a flight from a UK or US airport ?
