People want stronger UN
According to a poll by the World Public Opinion institute (WPO) and the independent think-tank Chicago Council on Global Affairs, world public opinion favours giving the United Nations more power, a permanent peacekeeping force, control over the arms trade, as well as enhanced monitoring of cases of human rights violations.

“We were rather surprised to see that all results converge,” said Steven Kull, Director of the Program on International Policy Attitudes, connected to the WPO and the University of Maryland. Kull, who is also editor of WorldPublicOpinion.org, says the survey suggests that people around the world are more open to multilateral action than their governments.
“While leaders of nation states may be wary of giving the United Nations more power it is clear that publics around the world are comfortable with the idea of a stronger UN,” he said.

In particular, the permanent peacekeeping force is supported by 77 per cent of Peruvians, 74 per cent of French and 72 per cent of Americans. Control over the trade of weapons receives the support of 77 per cent of French, 75 per cent of South Koreans and 60 per cent of Americans and Israelis, while 92 per cent of the French, 75 per cent of Americans, and 74 per cent of South Koreans consider that the UN should be entitled to investigate cases of human rights violations.

It is also widely believed that the Security Council should be allowed to use force to defend a nation that has been attacked. (Source: www.le.monde.fr, France; www.WorldPublicOpinion.org)

Tell that to Dave Mustain Surprised
http://www.metalreviews.com/news/article.php4?id=1782

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued a response to an UN Dispatch article by Mark Leon Goldberg in which Goldberg dissects and challenges the information presented in the lyrics to the MEGADETH song "United Abominations".

Says Mustaine: "Whether my facts are right or wrong, and whether you agree with me or not, I know I have your support — most of the time and that is all that matters.

"I would rather feel right and be wrong with the semantics or facts in the song and have expressed my right to free speech, than to feel wrong and be right and sit back, like the rest of the cowards of the world, not saying anything.

"I think it is a simple statement, made by a man who loves God, his country, and his family. If that is a problem, then tough!

"I do have to say that the writer is very good with his words and most of his points are what I based my lyrics on. And while I thank him for the eloquent way he partially described what I was trying to say with as little bias as possible (which he didn't do 'unbiased' very well), needless to say, we won't be having tea. Ironically, he agress with me more than he lets on, just read it again. In fact, he knows he agrees with a lot of it, because his [sic].

"And as far as my source for the information, it was the very people he allegedly works for — the media — and the place where he voiced his refutation — the Internet — where this public information lies. And we all know that everything you read on the Internet is troo!

"I am glad someone took the worm. Now let's see if anything more than attacking my beliefs or getting personal comes out of this. The first guy from the UN that came after me (yep, this isn’t the first time I have been verbally assaulted about this song) made sure to say that he was a bigger fan of my previous band than Megs too, as if that gives him any credibility with metal fans, and again personally attacking me.

"Whatev! Ah, what would the SEX PISTOLS have done?

"It just makes me more convicted to sing my songs, and in a weird way, I have so much more respect for the protest singers when I grew up that spoke out against the war and the government. It is risky because people live to spin what a person says — i.e. spin doctors (their whole job is to turn something someone says into something else) — and the establishment has been successful at keeping the masses fooled for way too long.

"An example of spin would be 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' — or something similar by our ex-president Bill Clinton. And these professionals can also make anyone look foolish or at the least, break them down and silence them, while trying to discredit them. It always gets personal when they run out of ammo. I mean, who hasn't said 'yer mama' at the end of an argument?

"One question would be, who is the writer that is complaining? Is he a real writer or some blogger? Does he do news, journalism, or tabloid reporting? Does he represent the UN or the American people or is he just an American like me, and is just venting? And why is he so intent on going after me? Why not use that energy constructively? He is obviously educated well (or has a thesaurus).

"Anyway, I would rather be wrong about the lyrics of 'UA' (which is just a song in the end) and have this guy try to explain why I shouldn't have your love and support, then be right and have no one notice. And it makes me wonder, if I was wrong, why bother with me? I am just a dumb metal guitar player, right?

"Bottom line is I am stoked to see you all having this discussion about things that matter to us all. What a victory!!!

"We win!!!

"We win!!!

"We win!!!

"I dig it when the Droogs get to have discussions like this because we all win; we all learn something.

"In closing, I love you guys and don't let this deter you from what really matters. As I have said before, 'its still 'we the people', right?'"

Well I have never been asked about this. Very suspicious looking figures for those polls.

So we need stronger government at Westminster, strong national parliaments in Wales, Scotland and N Ireland, a stronger European Union (or whatever it is calling itself now) and now a stronger United Nations.

Am I the only person out there who wants less government, not more?

I'm sure you're not Paul, though your motives are very suspicious. Or are you becoming one of us now? Have we finally persuaded you?

No you are not alone.
I think a stronger UN is a bad thing for the whole world.
Ask yourselves what has the UN done?
Sterilised people in India to slow down population growth
Set up so many organisations that achieve nothing but use loads of money.
Ensured that the old powers in the world keep control of the world, its peoples and its resources.
Imposed sanctions on various places leading to much death and suffering.
UN has not helped anyone anywhere.
Where was the UN when the Bosnians were being massacred? The UN was holding the door open for the killers and giving them a nod and a wink as they killed 250,000. while at the same time imposing an arms embargo preventing the Bosnians from defending themselves.
Where was the UN when the citizens of Rwanda were engaged in their genocide?
Where was the UN when Chechnya declared independence from the USSR?
Where was the UN when Tibet was removed from the map?
I could go on but you will get bored.

The UN is a morally bankrupt talking forum owned and controlled by the USA. I am in favour of it's abolition. What surprises me is that countries do not simply walk away from it.

I am also against the EEC or EC or EU or Common Market or whateve they are calling themselves this week. They might as well use their real name. EUSSR.

I know i am probably dreaming. But i would like to see a stronger COMMONWEALTH. With it's own free trade area and it's own peacekeeping forces. But i know that is a pipe dream.

The UN is a world government run by the new world order.
