yep, Structural Engineers design buildings to be many times stronger than required. The safety margins in their calculations are a minimum of 3 times the strength that elements (Beams, Columns etc.) need to be... but quite often even far greater than this.

Buildings do not turn into dust clouds from the top down. FACT! Wink
