News on Reuters today:

"Survivors and relatives of those killed in the London bombings of July 7, 2005, said on Wednesday they would seek legal action to force the government to hold an independent inquiry into the capital's worst peacetime attacks.

The group argue that the official accounts of the suicide bombings on three underground trains and a bus by four young British Islamists have been insufficient and inaccurate.

"We believe that our country can only benefit from an independent investigation into the largest ever terrorist attack on mainland Britain," said Graham Foulkes, whose 22-year-old son David was killed on an underground train."

May I add my own support for this inquiry, a proper, independent, thorough and non-political one unlike the one held in America for 9/11.

Blair and his cronies should be ashamed for refusing to hold an inquiry in the first place, unless, of course... they have something to hide...???

Yas we must try and contact Mr Foulkes and try and offer material and supporting evidence too.
Maybe help raise funds for the legal campaign too.

The news story:

Quote:
Shehzad Tanweer and Mohammad Sidique Khan were photographed, recorded and followed by intelligence operatives several times in early 2004 in the company of plotters who have since been jailed for planning attacks using fertiliser-based bombs.

However, the government said in the aftermath of the July 7 strikes that the bombers were "clean skins" who had not previously crossed the authorities' radar.

"It is now clear that the security services knew far more about the bombers and the possibility of an attack than we had originally been led to believe," said Rob Webb, whose sister Laura, 29, died on the train blown up by Khan.

"So the state looks to have breached its duty to protect life.

Unfortunately ever since the Inquires Act 2005 was passed, the whol idea of an Independent Inquiry has disappeared in the UK.

Take a look at the text of the act here.

I also believe any inquiry will be doomed before it starts due to the appointment of its chairman and the wording of the terms of reference.

I cannot recall any inquiry that has highlighted significant failings or wrong doing and actually held an individual to account. Can anyone else?

At best, there would be a couple of days worth of headlines when it starts then when it reports.

Sorry to be a profit of doom on this one.

No, they seem to be working exactly as planned.

Then we must pwn the restrictions of that act and expose this inquirey to intense scrutiny every single day it runs

I'm sure this action will result in one:

Its what it took for the Jersey Girls to get one in the US:

And we can help the 7/7 families by being sure they are informed of the lessons from that experiance

Call for public inquiry into 7/7

The London transport network was targeted in the attacks
Survivors of the 7 July London bombings have threatened legal action over the government's refusal to grant an independent public inquiry.
A group of survivors and relatives of those killed have handed a letter into the Home Office.

This document outlines the group's intention to pursue a Judicial Review if the government does not allow a public inquiry to be held.

The four suicide bombings killed 52 people and injured nearly 800.

The group of survivors and relatives of the dead have said they would prefer not to pursue a formal judicial challenge and incur potentially costly litigation.

'Unimaginable suffering'

But James Oury, senior partner of Oury Clark Solicitors, said because the former Home Secretary, Dr John Reid, refused their request earlier this year to grant an independent public inquiry, they had been forced to consider this legal challenge.

Mr Oury said: "There is continued uncertainty over the events leading up to the attacks on 7 July 2005 and an independent inquiry is seen as an appropriate way to address this concern.

"Our clients have endured unimaginable suffering in physical and emotional terms and it is unfair and inappropriate for the government to force our clients into an adversarial, costly and complex court setting - a litigation corner".

The group say that the Intelligence and Scrutiny Committee report published by government into the bombings is 'imperfect'.

They also say they do not accept that any of the investigations or reports carried out so far sufficiently comply with the government's obligation to protect life.

The same as some of the 9/11 victims are calling for. Funny how one of the arguments is "we don't want to upset the relatives/victims by drudging up the past" is used by the PTB to not have an independent inquiry isn't it Rolling Eyes

Darsha Shoni of Channel 4 News takes up the issue of the Inquiries Act 2005, a piece of legislation that the July 7th Truth Campaign have campaigned against in our call for a truly Independent Public Inquiry into July 7th:
