Hello,
I am the filmmaker of THE HOMEFRONT documentary film about the 7/7 London bombings. My cousin was one of the 52 lost in the attacks and that is what inspired me to make the documentary that ended up taking almost two years to complete and release. It is now available via the website www.thehomefrontmovie.net
I decided to join this board because I noticed some confusion about the film and myself and felt it would probably be a good idea to be able to directly answer questions people may have. |

Hi Rokoko,
Always interesting to hear from victims, survivors and their relatives. I can't quite ascertain what your position is vis-a-vis the events of 7/7 from your website.
Perhaps you could provide a brief synopsis of the content of the dvd?
It mught convince me that purchase would be worthwhile.

Hi dh. My position is pretty simple. Contrary to what is usually expected of docs relating to 9/11 or 7/7 my goal was to look at the human element of the events and chronicle a journey that I took for over a year based on the perspective from which I was coming at the situation. The film is more about the philosophical and psychological effects and mentality in London after the attacks than it is about trying to dig into controversies (though I must admit some do come up in the film). Essentially it is more of a film experience than a straight documentary style production. Many people were involved and in the end it hopefully shows the complexities that arise socially from such events as 7/7 in London. I hope you get the film. You might find it very interesting and different to what you'd expect.
The problems of terrorism, 7/7 and 9/11 will in the end be solved by the resolution of the social problems the UK faces and not the physical or political ephemeral solutions that might be achieved. It is and always has been about people and human psychosis, and that is what I am most interested in. |

Latest J7 news....
13/08/07: "Anyone who thinks the [Home Office] report is a full account is not being serious or realistic." On the launch of his new film The Homefront, the Cousin of 7/7 victim Anthony Fatayi Williams, filmmaker Thomas Ikimi, tells J7 about his film and the experiences of his family at the hands of the government since 7/7.

Welcome Thomas,
My condolences for the loss of your cousin and I am sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered from the Government and others in the aftermath. I am very happy you took the first step back in July 05 that has resulted in your completed journey and no doubt a much needed perspective on the attacks. I hope it does help further the push for a new investigation to get to the bottom of whatever happened and I thankyou also for the interview you gave to the team at J7.
May I ask what your position will be with regards Public performances of your film and If you maybe prepared to speak at such events if they can be organised?

I would be happy to speak at public screenings of my film if they were to organised. I have had some requests for this already, so the answer would be yes. Is this something you were interested in doing? |

A possibility yes but it depends how things pan out at my University this term with a few projects. I will attempt to organise a venue after I've checked out your film. _________________ The Peoples United Collective TPUC.ORG

Excellent film that leaves the conspiracy but asks many more troubling Q's. Well done! Great Film _________________ 'Come and see the violence inherent in the system.

I gave my copy to an Amnesty International students group after a screening of Taking Liberties and a chat with Chris Atkins. I had hoped they would review and organise a screening of it, at which I could have invited Thomas down to speak.
I naturally never heard back and my copy is thus lost in space, otherwise I would have happily mailed it to you. _________________ The Peoples United Collective TPUC.ORG
