Right before you read me wrong I don't smoke and am happy to have smokefree pubs but I do not think the law is fair, especially when older pubs have 2 or more bar areas anyway!
That aside thats get to the point! The proprieter of the Scotsman Bar in Blackpool is currently defying the ban tonight even after going to court over it. He was just interviewed on Five Live (that should more rightly be termed as targeted for character assassination) He spoke of a huge range of political dissatisfaction and needs support from likeminded people!!

Also from Five Live Musharif is cracking down on extremists! spokesman I have not heard this only lawyers, judges and political activists.
Five Live but they are cracking down on extremists!
spokesman I have not heard this two known extremists are still at large with no restraint!
Five Live continues the BS!

Don't they just make you want to throw up?

Yes I hope some people in the area do support the landlord of this pub. Were it in my neck of the woods I would call in for a pint and a smoke.

Yes Five Live are extremist government propaganda at it's least sophistocated. The presenters are a bunch of brain-dead *. Peter Allen and Victorial Derbyshire are among the worst of this bunch of criminals. Personal circumstances are no excuse, I would like to see them arrested and locked up. It's an outrage that they are supporting the declaration of martial law in Pakistan.

I think they should now be reffered to as 'Filth Live'.

If there were any real king of regulatory body for the press in this country the BBC would never have a minutes peace.

Incidentally whilst on this subject;

I was watching a current British soap opera last week and several of the characters were smoking indoors in a scene.

However you cut it, by definition, this is a workplace. Just because it is somewhat out of the norm in that the results of their working day are broadcast, should it make any legal difference?

I don't know of any other workplace where smoking is allowed. I accept the 'realism' aspect of depicting real life situations, but is there some form of dispensation for TV companies?

I saw some of 'top gear' and the three presenters were all smoking pipes, they seemed to be making as much smoke as possible.

Cool, I love smoking as long as the tobaco is reasonably free from additives. Since the ban I have come to appreciate it more.

I'd hate to be a drug addict, particularly one where my habit was forced upon unwilling participants.

However, this has been turned over countless times.

Anyway, the ban is a fabulous piece of legislation. I await the next phase where pregnant smokers are shot on-sight.

I see what you mean about this law but would you also like people to be again allowed to smoke in cinemas, on trains, planes, buses, etc? I applaud this law. I selfishly like it as I peform in these formerly smokey venues although I was only there for a few hours. The poor bar workers who maybe 40 hours or more in these smokey environments were being killed by the smoke.

I think there should be an exception. Pipe smoking should be allowed. It is elegant and it's smell inoffensive.

I'd actually like to see the mobile phone network removed as we all have to bathe in that pretty much all the time now it's acknowledged that the radiation causes cancer.

The anti-smoking lobby commissioned a survey which in its initial conclusions said that significant harm was not caused by secondary smoking. They then abandoned the study to the tobacco lobby
There are a huge number of causative factors of cancer most dealt out by the food and drug industry
Smoking is a small increment in the control industry
It's about micromanagement of your behaviour, not about anyone's health.
Mostly they wish you dead and the mobile network is one way to achieve that through frequency vibration
Disregard the health and safety laws. Mostly they want you dead or under control. the smoking ban is one phase of the latter.
