After the Berlin wall fell and communism crumbled, the US army had to repatriate thousands of nuclear weapons from Germany.
In 1994 I first observed a pair of four engined aircraft flying high, about one kilometre apart. They were flying north. These flights continued for about five years, all flying north.
The onlly reasonable speculation I can find is that the flights were repatriating nuclear warheads. They flew in pairs keeping watch on each other so that if one aircraft broke and fell then they would know where to go to recover the cargo. They flew from the base in Spain over the pole to the American mid west.
Prior to the Iraq invasion the same pairs of aircraft could be seen flying south, bring warheads in.
On 25 September, as the StW march prepared to set off, at 1.07 pm, the same formation flew over again, flying south.
