As the story makes clear, there are interesting parallels to Climategate, with government scientists resisting requests for data and then claiming the data was lost. With the raw data apparently showing no warming trend, something that only appears once these scientists have homogenised and adjusted the figures, it does look suspiciously as if books may have been cooked.

Legal Defeat for Global Warming in Kiwigate Scandal

In the climate controversy dubbed Kiwigate New Zealand skeptics inflict shock courtroom defeat on climatologists implicated in temperature data fraud.
New Zealand’s government via its National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) has announced it has nothing to do with the country’s “official” climate record in what commentators are calling a capitulation from the tainted climate reconstruction. The story is also covered on web news aggregator site, icecap.com.
NIWA’s statement claims they were never responsible for the national temperature record (NZTR).The climb down is seen as a dramatic legal triumph for skeptics of the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition (NZCSC) who had initiated their challenge last August when petitioning the high court of New Zealand to invalidate the weather service’s reconstruction of antipodean temperatures.
According to the August official statement of the claim from NZCSC climate scientists cooked the books by using the same alleged ‘trick’ employed by British and American doomsaying scientists. This involves subtly imposing a warming bias during what is known as the ‘homogenisation’ process that occurs when climate data needs to be adjusted.
The specific charge brought against the Kiwi government was that it’s climate scientists had taken the raw temperature records of the country and then adjusted them artificially with the result that a steeper warming trend was created than would otherwise exist by examination of the raw data alone.
Indeed, the original Kiwi records shows no warming during the 20th century, but after government sponsored climatologists had manipulated the data a warming trend of 1C appeared.
New Zealand Government Abandons ‘Official’ Climate Record
The NZCSC story reports that the NZ authorities, “formally stated that, in their opinion, they are not required to use the best available information nor to apply the best scientific practices and techniques available at any given time. They don’t think that forms any part of their statutory obligation to pursue “excellence.”
NIWA now denies there was any such thing as an “official” NZ Temperature Record, although there was an official acronym for it (NZTR). However, the position now taken by the NZ government is that all such records are now to be deemed as unofficial and strictly for internal research purposes.
The article urges that if the government will not affirm that their temperature reconstruction is official then, “Nobody else should rely on it.”
Researcher from Climategate University Implicated in Data Fraud
As reported in a Suite101 article by the same writer of April 2010 'Kiwigate is a Carbon Copy of Climategate' it was shown that the scientist who made the controversial “bold adjustments” is none other than Jim Salinger who is also a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Because very few temperature records exist for the Pacific Ocean, the NIWA record is given extra weight by the UN’s IPCC for determining multi-decadal trends in global average temperatures.
Salinger was dismissed by NIWA earlier this year for speaking without authorization to the media. The discredited researcher originally worked at Britain’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU), the institution at the center of the Climategate scandal.
Salinger was also among the inner circle of climate scientists whose leaked emails precipitated the original climate controversy in November 2009. In an email (August 4, 2003) to fellow disgraced American climate professor, Michael Mann, Salinger stated he was “extremely concerned about academic standards” among climate skeptics.
Bogus Data Destroyed before it could be independently verified
In circumstances strangely similar to those witnessed in the Climategate controversy Kiwigate appears to match Climategate in three key three facets. First, climate scientists declined to submit their data for independent analysis. Second, when backed into a corner the scientists claimed their adjustments had been ‘lost’. Third, the raw data itself proves no warming trend.

New research by German and Russian scientists indicates that summer temperatures in the Arctic actually fell for much of the later 20th century, plunging to the levels seen at the beginning of the industrial revolution.
The new results are said by their authors to indicate that solar activity exerted a powerful influence over Arctic climate until the 1990s, an assertion which will cause some irritation among academics who contend that atmospheric carbon is the main factor in climate change.
The latest analysis was done using the rings of Scots pines (Pinus sylvestris) from the Khibiny Mountains on the Kola Peninsula, situated between the Arctic Circle and the port of Murmansk. The tree rings were probed by specialist ring boffins at Institut für Botanik at the Universität Hohenheim in Stuttgart, cooperating with colleagues in Russia and at the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung (UFZ).
According to a statement issued by the UFZ:
What stands out in the data from the Kola Peninsula is that the highest temperatures were found in the period around 1935 and 1955, and that by 1990 the curve had fallen to the 1870 level, which corresponds to the start of the Industrial Age. Since 1990, however, temperatures have increased again ...
What is conspicuous about the new data is that the reconstructed minimum temperatures coincide exactly with times of low solar activity. The researchers therefore assume that in the past, solar activity was a significant factor contributing to summer temperature fluctuations in the Arctic.
"One thing is certain: this part of the Arctic warmed up after the end of the Little Ice Age around 250 years ago, cooled down from the middle of the last century and has been warming up again since 1990," says Dr Tatjana Böttger, UFZ paleoclimatologist.
The research will be unwelcome in the hard-green movement, as it appears to undermine the direct connection between human carbon emissions and global warming - indicating as it does that temperatures actually fell back to pre-industrial levels from 1950 to 1990, just as human carbon emissions were really getting into high gear. Furthermore, the previous warming trend up to 1950 actually began in 1840, before the industrial revolution had even begun.
Böttger and her colleagues also reference other Arctic temperature studies, all of which show a 20th-century temperature peak followed by major falls of one to two degrees - in one case with the peak occurring as late as 1990.

Trees of Medieval Warming Period - MWP Warmer Than Present

Description
Based on radiocarbon dating of the fossil wood remains of eight larch (Larix decidua) stem fragments found one meter beneath the surface of the ground at the base of the front of the Piancabella rock glacier (46°27'02" N, 9°00'07" E) in the Southern Swiss Alps in September 2005, the authors determined that the wood was formed somewhere between AD 1040 and 1280 with a statistical probability of 95.4%. Then, based on this information and "geomorphological, climatological and geophysical observations," they inferred that "the treeline in the Medieval Warm Period was about 200 meters higher than in the middle of the 20th century, which corresponds to a mean summer temperature as much as 1.2°C warmer than in AD 1950." Thus, we assign the MWP (at a minimum) to the period AD 1040-1280; and adjusting for warming between 1950 and the present, we calculate that the MWP was about 0.5°C warmer than the peak warmth of the CWP.

Dear Curt:
When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago).
Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence—it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?
How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d’être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it. For example:
1. About a year ago a few of us sent an e-mail on the subject to a fraction of the membership. APS ignored the issues, but the then President immediately launched a hostile investigation of where we got the e-mail addresses. In its better days, APS used to encourage discussion of important issues, and indeed the Constitution cites that as its principal purpose. No more. Everything that has been done in the last year has been designed to silence debate
2. The appallingly tendentious APS statement on Climate Change was apparently written in a hurry by a few people over lunch, and is certainly not representative of the talents of APS members as I have long known them. So a few of us petitioned the Council to reconsider it. One of the outstanding marks of (in)distinction in the Statement was the poison word incontrovertible, which describes few items in physics, certainly not this one. In response APS appointed a secret committee that never met, never troubled to speak to any skeptics, yet endorsed the Statement in its entirety. (They did admit that the tone was a bit strong, but amazingly kept the poison word incontrovertible to describe the evidence, a position supported by no one.) In the end, the Council kept the original statement, word for word, but approved a far longer “explanatory” screed, admitting that there were uncertainties, but brushing them aside to give blanket approval to the original. The original Statement, which still stands as the APS position, also contains what I consider pompous and asinine advice to all world governments, as if the APS were master of the universe. It is not, and I am embarrassed that our leaders seem to think it is. This is not fun and games, these are serious matters involving vast fractions of our national substance, and the reputation of the Society as a scientific society is at stake.
3. In the interim the ClimateGate scandal broke into the news, and the machinations of the principal alarmists were revealed to the world. It was a fraud on a scale I have never seen, and I lack the words to describe its enormity. Effect on the APS position: none. None at all. This is not science; other forces are at work.
4. So a few of us tried to bring science into the act (that is, after all, the alleged and historic purpose of APS), and collected the necessary 200+ signatures to bring to the Council a proposal for a Topical Group on Climate Science, thinking that open discussion of the scientific issues, in the best tradition of physics, would be beneficial to all, and also a contribution to the nation. I might note that it was not easy to collect the signatures, since you denied us the use of the APS membership list. We conformed in every way with the requirements of the APS Constitution, and described in great detail what we had in mind—simply to bring the subject into the open.
5. To our amazement, Constitution be damned, you declined to accept our petition, but instead used your own control of the mailing list to run a poll on the members’ interest in a TG on Climate and the Environment. You did ask the members if they would sign a petition to form a TG on your yet-to-be-defined subject, but provided no petition, and got lots of affirmative responses. (If you had asked about sex you would have gotten more expressions of interest.) There was of course no such petition or proposal, and you have now dropped the Environment part, so the whole matter is moot. (Any lawyer will tell you that you cannot collect signatures on a vague petition, and then fill in whatever you like.) The entire purpose of this exercise was to avoid your constitutional responsibility to take our petition to the Council.
6. As of now you have formed still another secret and stacked committee to organize your own TG, simply ignoring our lawful petition.
APS management has gamed the problem from the beginning, to suppress serious conversation about the merits of the climate change claims. Do you wonder that I have lost confidence in the organization?
I do feel the need to add one note, and this is conjecture, since it is always risky to discuss other people’s motives. This scheming at APS HQ is so bizarre that there cannot be a simple explanation for it. Some have held that the physicists of today are not as smart as they used to be, but I don’t think that is an issue. I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst. When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise. As the old saying goes, you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing. Since I am no philosopher, I’m not going to explore at just which point enlightened self-interest crosses the line into corruption, but a careful reading of the ClimateGate releases makes it clear that this is not an academic question.
I want no part of it, so please accept my resignation. APS no longer represents me, but I hope we are still friends.

The entire green movement of the world needs to answer this. It doesn’t matter whether they made it or not. They can’t hide behind this as a joke. Any true human-rights-respecting, tolerant, compassionate speaking person must denounce the 10:10 video in no uncertain terms.
They used former-stars people who used to have some social standing (what were they thinking?). Gillian Anderson (x-files), Peter Crouch (footballer), David Ginola (a French footballer), Richard Curtis (film maker, eg Love Actually, Notting Hill), and Radiohead.
Funny business, blogging. Sometimes, you put up a post you personally think is genius and no one gives a damn. Other times, you put up a post you imagine is fairly routine – and suddenly the internet goes mental.
US physics professor: “Global warming is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life” definitely belonged in the latter category.
I claim no credit for it. All I did was print, verbatim, a resignation letter written by a distinguished US physics professor Hal Lewis to the American Physical Society. Possibly I helped give it legs by singling out the juiciest quote in the letter and putting it in the headline. That’s all. The true hero of the hour is Professor Lewis for having the courage to stick out his neck and say what so many thousands of other scientists around the world would dearly love to say too: that the global warming industry is a scam and sham.
But they can’t because, like all of us, they have to make a living. I’ll leave it to a commenter called Scotchman to explain how it works:
No surprise here. Don’t know if any of you are scientists but climate change is a bit of a standing joke in the science community. Want funding for a study of, say, UK swan populations? Sorry old boy, no money. Well, in that case I would like to conduct a study into the effect of climate change on UK swan populations. Certainly, how much would you like? Trouble is it distorts the research. The scientist’s objective is to stay in a job, publish papers and run a research team. Process takes precedent over results, a bit like modern policing and medicine really.

So what is going on here? In time-honored journalistic fashion, follow the money:
- The amount of money spent on anti-AGW activity by organizations is around US$2 million per year, primarily from Heartland.
- The amount of money spent by pro-AGW organisations on research is about US$3 billion per year, about 1,000 times larger. It mainly comes from big government spending on pro-AGW climate research and on promoting the AGW message, and from the Greens.
- Emissions trading by the finance industry was US$120 billion in 2008. This will grow to over US$1 trillion by 2012, and carbon emission permit trading will be the largest “commodity” market in the world—larger than oil, steel, rice, wheat etc. Typically the finance industry might pocket 1% – 5% of the turnover, so even now their financial interest matches the spending on pro-AGW activities and soon it will vastly exceed it.

I too had a long career as a physicist and I met Prof Hal Lewis at a conference in 1976 (my career was not as long or as eminent as his). I will never forget the talk he gave after dinner one evening. He spoke for an hour without any notes and was truly inspiring; the room was packed and all there were enthralled. A scientist of honour, honesty and integrity. He is one of the last survivors of the great physicists of the second half of the 20th century.
His words of wisdom should be widely disseminated and heeded. “climate scientists” are not scientists in comparison to him.
And here’s another REAL scientist (as opposed to a “climate scientist”) – a geologist this time – from NZ called Geodoug:
Good article. I am a geologist and a 40yr member of AusIMM and find that they also will not take a stand on this matter. All geologists are aware of climate change episodes in the geological past, frequently of much greater magnitude than that occuring at present. Problem seems to be that pressure is coming to bear on scientific societies world-wide not to speak out. And as the NZ govt has ratified the Kyoto Protocol etc, just 2 weeks ago we were made subject to additional Emissions Trading Scheme taxes on all fuels and energy supplies. It just goes on ………… !!
These were characteristic of the unusually high quality of comments this blog attracted from all round the world, often from first time visitors. Hal Lewis – who has now joined the advisory committee of the Global Warming Policy Foundation – struck a chord. As Realfreedom noted:
I think this is just the beginning. All credit to Harold Lewis for his honesty and for the having the courage to state his position. It is indeed one of the greatest scams to have been perpetrated by the scientific community, albeit under incessant political pressure. Watch out for the mass exodus – it will only take a few more respected (and brave) figures to open the flood gates.
Then it will be highly entertaining to read all the excuses and as they fall over themselves retreating.
I know personally many scientists (teachers) who feel under pressure not to decare ther position for fear of reprisals. There will be a good business opportunity in rewriting text books in the not too distant future, as there was when the Piltdown Man hoax was exposed and all the science text books had to be changed accordingly.
I think Realfreedom is right. And the people who ought most especially to take notice are our political class. In Britain, we are stuck with a terrifyingly undemocratic situation in which all three of our main political parties are committed to throwing more and more taxpayers money into the Great Climate Change Lie Machine. Crank up your central heating and get out your thermals... because winter is about to bite.
Icy polar winds are to sweep across the country from tomorrow, with temperatures plummeting to below freezing and up to 2ins of snow forecast for parts of the north by the end of the week.
Millions will wake up to frost this week, but the worst of the weather will hit Scotland and North-east England.
Wednesday will be the coldest day of the week, with temperatures as low as -3C on Tuesday night in rural parts of the north. The mercury will also struggle to rise above freezing overnight in the south.
The arrival of Jack Frost can be blamed on polar winds. Charlie Powell, a forecaster at the Met Office, said: 'We have had a nice area of high pressure just to the west of the UK, giving light winds, settled conditions and quite dry weather.
'The change is down to an area of low pressure to the north of that high. It is going sit over Scandinavia and displace that high pressure and bring in colder weather from the Pole.'
Daytime temperatures on Wednesday will be just 9C (48F) in the north and 11C (52F) in the south. Snow is forecast for the Scottish Highlands.
Wind chill could mean that London's temperatures will feel as low as minus 5C (23F).
The good news is the Arctic blast will not last. Mr Powell said: 'After Thursday the high pressure will tend to win out again and cut off that northerly flow, making it less cold.'
Netweather, which correctly predicted last winter's big freeze, as well as the mixed summer, is forecasting a cold December and a white Christmas.
Last winter was the coldest for more than 30 years. Temperaturesin December, January and February struggled to stay above zero, with the UK average 1.5C (35F), making it the deepest freeze since 1978-79.
But winter’s biggest problem will be another drought which sparks water-saving restrictions, forecasters including ex-BBC weatherman Michael Fish have warned.
The Met Office has warned of snow from Tuesday across Scotland plus higher ground in northern England and Wales. Positive Weather Solutions said even Dartmoor, Devon, is at risk.
Netweather, which issue forecasts by Mr Fish, Britain’s most famous weatherman, say winter’s biggest worry will not be snow but dramatically below-average rainfall.
Water companies are still recovering from the summer drought, which developed through the driest first six months of a year since 1929.
Average rainfall was down 30 per cent at just 356.8mm, forcing a hosepipe ban for seven million people in north-west England, and drought orders and water-saving pleas in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
Netweather forecaster Paul Michaelwaite, who accurately predicted last winter’s freezing weather and the summer’s hot start and wet finish, said: 'Rainfall is expected to be significantly below average in December, January and February.
'With winter being a key period in topping up reservoir water levels, the below-average rainfall has the potential to cause real issues with water shortages in 2011.
'We believe this is the most significant aspect of winter, coming after a largely-dry summer for parts of the UK and a very likely dry spring to follow.'
Netweather said the winter drought will be caused by westerly winds - which usually bring rain - being blocked by freak air pressure changes over the Atlantic Ocean.
Winds normally rush to Britain between a high pressure area around the Azores and low pressure area over Iceland - but both zones now have pressure closer to medium, meaning winds are being rebuffed.
This pressure problem is proven by a record low in a meteorological pressure measurement called the North Atlantic Oscillation, Mr Michaelwhite said.
Netweather also said back-to-back White Christmases are on the cards - and there will also be bitter spells of winter cold due to a weather effect known as ‘La Nina.’
The weather event - Spanish for ‘The girl’ - is seeing Pacific Ocean water temperatures up to 6C below normal, with a knock-on effect on Atlantic Ocean temperatures and a colder winter in Europe.
'It is very likely an exceptionally strong La Nina event will take place with a probable peak in December or early January,' Mr Michaelwhite said.
'Unusually cold La Nina ocean temperatures in the tropical Pacific are well established.
'And given the large volume of water with temperatures up to 6C below normal, this could potentially be the strongest La Nina of the last 60 years.'
The Met Office has axed its seasonal forecasts following its disastrous prediction 2009’s washout summer would be a 'BBQ summer,' and saying there was a one in seven chance of a cold winter before last year’s bitter winter.
Met Office forecaster John Hammond said: 'Our research about seasonal forecasts shows the public find it more useful to have month-ahead forecasts.
'Seasonal forecasts are a developing science and our research into them is continuing.'

Five centuries ago, a German priest challenged the reigning theological “consensus” about the clerical sale of indulgences, unraveling one of the great religious scams in history and inspiring the Protestant Reformation.
This month, a senior American physicist challenged the reigning scientific “consensus” about global warming. His action may prove to be the unraveling one of the great scientific mistakes in history and the beginning of a greatly needed reformation of the scientific community.
Revulsion over fraud
Just as Martin Luther paid the price for his dissent, Dr. Harold Lewis is experiencing a sharp backlash in the wake of his Oct. 6 resignation letter from the prestigious American Physical Society (APS). After 67 years as a member, Dr. Lewis – emeritus professor of physics and former department chairman at the University of California, Santa Barbara – parted ways because of his “revulsion” over the climate change “fraud” perpetrated by what he felt was science distorted by money.
Other esteemed scientists have in recent years put forward compelling critiques of the technical and scientific case for anthropogenic climate change. Dr. Lewis’s resignation letter is not such a critique. Rather, it is a condemnation of the way ideology, politics, and money have suppressed dissenting viewpoint and distorted the very nature of scientific inquiry. Like the so-called Climategate controversy, in which hacked emails from a group of climate scientists revealed political and personal factors influencing scientific work, Lewis’ letter lays bare the less-than-noble motivations that seem to be driving discussion of climate-change research today.
The APS position: 'incontrovertible'
To understand Lewis’s letter, you first have to understand the APS position on climate change. The APS, like several other major scientific organizations, supports the theory of man-caused global warming. Its official statement from 2007 read, in part: “The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.... The APS also urges governments, universities, national laboratories and its membership to support policies and actions that will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.”
This statement troubled Lewis deeply. These key excerpts from Lewis’s resignation letter explain why:
“[T]he money flood has become the raison d’être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare.... I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion.
1. About a year ago a few of us sent an e-mail on the subject to a fraction of the membership. APS ignored the issues, but the then President immediately launched a hostile investigation of where we got the e-mail addresses. In its better days, APS used to encourage discussion of important issues, and indeed the Constitution cites that as its principal purpose. No more. Everything that has been done in the last year has been designed to silence debate
2. The appallingly tendentious APS statement on Climate Change was apparently written in a hurry by a few people over lunch, and is certainly not representative of the talents of APS members as I have long known them. So a few of us petitioned the Council to reconsider it. One of the outstanding marks of (in)distinction in the Statement was the poison word incontrovertible, which describes few items in physics, certainly not this one. In response APS appointed a secret committee that never met, never troubled to speak to any skeptics, yet endorsed the Statement in its entirety. (They did admit that the tone was a bit strong, but amazingly kept the poison word incontrovertible to describe the evidence, a position supported by no one.)...

3. In the interim the ClimateGate scandal broke into the news, and the machinations of the principal alarmists were revealed to the world. It was a fraud on a scale I have never seen, and I lack the words to describe its enormity. Effect on the APS position: none. None at all. This is not science; other forces are at work.

There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club.... As the old saying goes, you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing. Since I am no philosopher, I’m not going to explore at just which point enlightened self-interest crosses the line into corruption, but a careful reading of the ClimateGate releases makes it clear that this is not an academic question.
I want no part of it, so please accept my resignation. APS no longer represents me, but I hope we are still friends.

This is an important moment in science history. I would describe it as a letter on the scale of Martin Luther, nailing his 95 Theses to the Wittenburg church door.
Lewis is no lightweight
Most people don’t know who Lewis is. He’s a quiet man, and he hasn’t sought publicity in his career. He was a student of Robert Oppenheimer, “father” of the atomic bomb, and was active in the field of safety of nuclear power plants, where being wrong had grave consequences. He worked with (the late) noted climatologist Stephen Schneider when he chaired a 1985 task force on nuclear winter.
In short, he’s no lightweight, and he’s well respected in the field of physics.
Lewis and 260 other members of APS signed a petition, and battled within the organization, following the APS constitutional rules, in an attempt to get the APS position statement on global warming considered for revision. The effort was ignored, stonewalled, and rebuked. After years of trying, he finally had enough.
Lewis must have been wrestling with his conscience for a considerable time before concluding that resignation was his only option.
And like Luther, with all other options extinguished, he figuratively nailed his letter to the door of the organization that had become so entrenched in its own consensus that it couldn’t even address the concerns of its own members.
Luther’s brave act started the Reformation of the Catholic church. Lewis’s act could very well begin the reformation of climate science.

Snow falls in Yorkshire - In October! Snow fell as far south as Yorkshire as drivers were stranded in cars following blizzards in Scotland as winter came early to Britain.

Early snow covered parts of Aberdeenshire, the Cairngorms and Shetland - as well as the Pennines.
A number of drivers needed police assistance after getting stuck on the B974 at Cairn o’Mount, near Aberdeen.
The road became impassable due to snow and ice and was later closed.
Grampian Police spokesman Alan Majury said: “Several cars were stuck on the B974 and could not get along the road due to snow.
“The people are still with their vehicles and police officers are assisting them.”
The cold snap ends tomorrow (fri) as gale-force winds blow in to blast the country from tomorrow night until Sunday morning.
The highest winds will be near the coast and on higher ground, meaning people visiting beaches should beware of big waves and walkers in the Pennines, North Yorkshire Moore and Scottish Highlands should take care.
Met Office forecaster Helen Chivers said: “An Atlantic weather system will move across Scotland bringing gales to most UK coastal areas and also higher ground from Friday night and through Saturday.
“Areas affected will be those by the English Channel, Irish Sea and North Sea - and also exposed areas including the Pennines, North Yorkshire Moors and Scottish Highlands.
“There will be heavy rain across the south-east, with showers and sunshine elsewhere.
“We’re expecting steady wind speeds of 39-45mph, with gusts over 50mph.
“Saturday will be a windy day, although it shouldn’t be windy enough to have tiles being blown off roofs. Sunday will still be windy, but not with gales."
January and February are the snowiest months in the UK, whilst snow is more likely in March and April than November and October respectively. And really this is where talk of snow might be expected to end. However, having already most likely teased us with some pleasant summer-like weather earlier in the spring May is prone to throwing in a touch of winter, perhaps more often than might be thought………
A trawl through the archives reveals that on 17th May 1955 was probably the most notable May snowfall on record. Much of England and Wales was affected by several hours of snow (Eden 1995), including two to three hours’ worth in the London area (Brazell, 1968).
Coincidentally, the same date twenty years earlier in 1935 also saw England and Wales affected by widespread snow with some places, including theWirral and parts of Devon recording several inches of snow (Eden 1995). Incidentally, on 17th May 1935 snow also fell in the central Netherlands (Zwart 1985) and this is the latest in the season that snow has been observed here.
May 8th 1943 saw snow falling over parts of northern Britain as a depression tracked eastwards across north Wales. The Isle of Man was among the worst hit places and in Douglas 15cms snow lay on the ground by the morning of the 9th (Pritchard 1997?), whilst virtually the whole of Scotland was affected, including falls of 7cms at Duntulm, Isle of Skye (Stirling 1997). Such is the fickleness of May weather that just a few days later temperatures reached 30C in Kent.
Other notable instances of May snowfall include that of mid-May 1923, Scotland’s coldest May of the 20th century and the century’s second coldest May in England and Wales, whilst May 18th 1968 saw snow falling as far south as the Midlands. Meanwhile, a little more recently the Mays of 1979, 1981 and 1982 started with widespread wintry showers whilst May 13th 1993 saw several centimetres of snow settling over the higher ground in central Britain (Pritchard 1997?), including a fall of 30cm at Moor House in County Durham by the 14th (Stirling 1997).
Stepping back into the nineteenth century Eden (1995) and Stirling (997) report widespread snow England between the 16th and 18th May 1891. Snow fell to depths of several inches in some places, including falls measured at 15cms deep in parts of the Midlands and East Anglia. A few days earlier on the 10th snow had fallen as far south as Bath and London (Stirling 1997).
Meanwhile, Gordon Manley, writing in Weather in 1975 tells of snowfall in southern Britain on 22nd May 1867 and 27th May 1821 whilst Brazell (1968) mentions snow as having fallen in or close to the London area on 12th May 1816, ‘the year without a summer’.
Moving into the eighteenth and late seventeenth centuries Manley (1975) raises the possibility of snow being observed on parts of the higher ground in Sussex on 12th June 1791. Early May snowfall was recorded in parts of the London area in 1770 whilst in 1698 a widespread deep snow was reported all over England on 3rd May (Brazell 1968).
Inevitably June snowfall is a much rarer creature, but widespread sleet and snow showers did manage to affect the United Kingdom on 2nd June 1975, rudely and infamously affecting a cricket match between Derbyshire and Lancashire at Buxton where early afternoon snow covered the pitch with around an inch of snow (Markham, 1994, Eden 1995). Elsewhere, snow settled on hills just south of Birmingham (Eden 1995), whilst to the south and east Manley (1975) reports snow being observed in both Cambridge and London and another county cricket match, this time featuring Essex and Kent, being played in Colchester was interrupted by snow (Ogley et al. 1993). Meanwhile, sleet showers were observed in RAF Manston in eastern Kent, Hassocks, Sussex and Totton and Portsmouth in Hampshire (COL Bulletin 1975, Eden 1995, Ogley en al 1995).
In his book Weatherwise, Philip Eden (1995) wonderfully describes this June snowfall as, "surely the most outrageous thing that June has ever done to us, meteorologically speaking". It also seems that in recent times at least this is the latest in the season that such widespread snow has managed to affect southern Britain (Manley 1975, Eden 1995) and Manley (1975) suggests that the June 1975 snowfall was probably southern Britain’s latest snowfall since the turn of the nineteenth century.
A little more recently, a sleet shower was reported at Birmingham Airport during the morning of 7th June 1985, whilst in the evening snow fell at Eskdalemuir in southern Scotland (Burt 1985, COL Bulletin 1985). However, it would see, that this does of wintry weather was much more localised than the snowfall of 2nd June 1975.
Finally, the 20th century's earliest low level snowfall on the ground in England would appear to be that of 31st October 1934 when 5cms snow fell as far south as Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire whilst 1st November 1942 saw a light covering of snow fall over the Cotswolds (Stirling 1997).

The birds fly 2,500 miles from Russia each year to escape the freezing winds blowing behind them. According to folklore, their early arrival signals the start of a long, harsh winter.
Eight Bewick swans touched down in Britain late on Sunday night, marking the earliest arrival since 2003.
They landed as a blast of cold air swept in from the Arctic, bringing frost and sub-zero temperatures to many parts over the weekend. The village of Benson near Wallingford, Oxfordshire, recorded the lowest temperature of 38.3 degrees Fahrenheit (-3.5C) on Saturday night.
The Met Office forecasts that it will get even colder by mid-week, with daytime temperatures as low as 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5C) in some parts and cold winds expected to bring a dusting of snow to higher ground in the north.
The birds landed at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust nature reserve at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, and will be followed by around 300 more over the coming weeks.
Last year, the first swans landed two weeks later but in much larger numbers, marking the start of the coldest winter for 31 years.
Staff spotted the Bewick swans, distinguishable by a bright yellow patch at the top of their beaks, at dawn yesterday.
James Lees, the reserve warden, said: “Forecasters have predicted it will be just as cold this winter as last and the Bewick’s’ early arrival could support this, and could even mean we are in for an even colder winter this year.
“If nothing else they have brought the Arctic weather with them as this week is set to be fairly chilly.”

How do we know, one way or another? if the climate is warming/cooling (as a whole) 1 or 2 degrees, when we can't check those scientic data facts? Even the more genuine scientists would have to get by the compartmentalisation. But we can see and check that other pollution IS getting worse.

Every winter around 250 Bewick's Swans arrive at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust nature reserve at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire after flying 2,500 miles from Arctic Russia.
Bewick's have migrated to Slimbridge every winter for 60 years. The earliest they have arrived was in 2005 on October 20."
Ken Buck: Inhofe Was Right, Global Warming Is The Greatest Hoax That Has Been Perpetrated'

Colorado Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck is being criticized following statements he made regarding global warming on Wednesday.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper quoted Buck praising Oklahoma Senator James Inhoffe for being among the first to cast doubt on whether global warming is a reality.
"Sen. Inhofe was the first person to stand up and say this global warming is the greatest hoax that has been perpetrated. The evidence just keeps supporting his view, and more and more people's view, of what's going on," Buck said to supporters after a meeting.
The U.S. Department of Defense has identified global climate change as a major threat to the county's long-term security.
Buck's opponent, incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet, seized on the statement, pointing to a report from the National Council of State Legislatures that Colorado will incur annually "more than $1 billion in losses due to impacts on tourism, forestry, water resources and human health from a predicted drier, warmer climate."
Politico took the comment as an example of Buck stray[ing] from the lesson he learned from his " Meet the Press" appearance on Sunday, when he was widely criticized for comparing homosexuality to alcoholism.
Democrats have consistently tried to portray Buck as an extremist since the Tea Party-backed candidate became the Republican nominee in August.

Mike Mann’s “secret” meeting on the Medieval Warm Period

While not really “secret”, one might describe it that way because unlike the many things Dr. Mann has been doing lately, there wasn’t one peep of press coverage about it. He helped organize this conference, and as we know Dr. Mann doesn’t shy away from reporting to the press on anything that helps his stature. Surprisingly, the usual science writers didn’t mention it, and you’d think they would, given all the major players that converged in Portugal for this event. So, it seems like they may have missed it too. Portuguese blogger “EcoTretas” only got word of this from a tip about a related story in a Portuguese newspaper. His essay is below, and there’s a lot more after that. – Anthony
A usual reader of the blog sent me yesterday an interesting news from a Portuguese newspaper. It deals with the classic Medieval Warm Period problem, in the most green Portuguese newspaper. I immediately recognized one of the worst environmental journalists in Portugal, dealing with one of my favorite issues. Interestingly enough, Ricardo Trigo, a portuguese climatologist, was trying to explain the pseudo-science behind climate change and global warming, confusing things like Greenland’s vikings and Maunder’s Minimum.
But what really interested me in the story was a reference to Phil Jones, the person in the center of the ClimateGate controversy.
And references to a conference in Portugal, regarding the Medieval Warm Period. I spent some time trying to figure out what had happened. Turned out that I had not read the news with attention: the conference had happened a month before!
Between 22 and 24 of September, a symposium entitled “The Medieval Warm Period Redux: Where and When was it warm?” was organized in Lisbon, Portugal. The Climategate mob was here, including Phil Jones, Michael Mann, Malcolm Hughes and Raymond Bradley. I bet the main point on the agenda was how “to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period“. The abstracts for the conference are available here. Probably, the best abstract of the symposium was for Malcolm K. Hughes (highlights are my responsibility):
We meant the title of our 1994 review “Was there a Medieval Warm Period, and if so Where and When?” (Hughes and Diaz, 1994) to be read in two ways. Firstly, it was to be read quite literally. Secondly, it was meant to be ironic. The literal reading was rewarded by an attempt to identify and synthesize records thought to be appropriate to this task. Irony was used to imply that, since a clear and simple answer was not forthcoming from the review, it might be useful to reformulate the question. Please read the title of this abstract in the light of this explanation of the 1994 title.
The trajectories of these two concepts (“Medieval Warm Period” and “Medieval Climate Anomaly “) will be traced. A case will be made for the abandonment of both of them, on the grounds that they are inappropriate, uninformative, and that they very probably divert attention from more revealing ways of thinking about the Earth’s climate over the past two millennia.
It is clear from many recent publications, especially many of the abstracts submitted for this meeting, that high-resolution paleoclimatology has moved firmly from the mode of descriptive climatology to that of physical climatology. As a result, there is little utility in picking over definitions of the geographic and temporal extent of putative epochs, especially in the Late Holocene. The pressing questions concern the dynamics of the climate system, and the relative roles of free and forced variations, whether the forcings are anthropogenic or not.
All the information I’ve got till now makes me believe that this was an almost secret meeting. No news transpired, not even here in Portugal. Given the abstracts, and the one seen above, their intentions are clear! If Ricardo Trigo kept his mouth shut, nobody would probably hear about it. So I wish to thank my loyal reader for bringing this to our attention.

The Medieval Warm Period is a major embarrassment for the global warming cultists. The climate was much warmer than today, and there were no dire consequences. The ice caps did not melt, the shorelines did not flood, the polar bears and walruses survived just fine. Indeed it was a golden time of plenty for all. There was so much food people had time left over to build great cathedrals, and the Vikings started colonizing North America! It was a golden age that supported the flowering of art and science and the Renaissance.
All this is a threat to the warmist agenda, which seeks to use the "threat" of global warming to force a global government and a carbon tax on us all!
So the warmistas need the Medieval warming period to go away! The Climategate emails confirm a deliberate policy of erasing the Medieval (and Roman) warm period from the popular awareness. IPCC's now discredited "Hockey Stick" graph not only artificially elevated recent temperatures, but lowered the temperatures from 1000AD to 1400AD, erasing the Medieval warm period. Starting in 2003, Global Warming Cultist started hijacking Wikipedia, eventually working his way to a position of trust, from which he altered thousands of documents, deleted thousands more, and banned anyone who challenged the orthodoxy from posting at Wikipedia!
History does not support the global government carbon agenda. So, history must be changed! The warmistas, real life Winston Smiths, are trying to lay the groundwork to erase the Medieval warm period from history, because it does not support their push for global government and a carbon tax.
You should oppose this with all your strength and rage, not only to free yourself from a carbon tax, but because a government brought into existence using the methods described in "1984" will be exactly like the government described in "1984."
After all, "Room 101" already exists at Abu Ghraib, Bagram, and Guantanamo!
Even thought the United States banned DDT more than 30 years ago, the "brownlash" keeps recycling the same myths about the chemical in an effort to descerdit the environmental movement.
Myth: Rachel Carson's Silent Spring was all about DDT.
Reality: Reading the modern "brownlash" literature you would think that DDT was the only pesticide Carson was worried about. But there was a whole list of chemicals addressed in the book, including much worse ones like aldrin and dieldren.
Myth: We have to decide between birds and children.
Reality: DDT is used inside houses in modern anti-malaria campaigns, where it poses no significant risk to wildlife.

Most people tend to think of environmentalists as warm, cuddly hippies that just want all of us to love one another and to do what is right for the environment. And in fact, there are a few people out there who are actually like that. However, the people at the very heart of the green agenda are a quite different breed. The truth is that there are a growing number of environmental activists (including some very, very famous people) who are publicly advocating the end of our freedoms, the establishment of a Big Brother style world government and the systematic eradication of at least 90% of humanity all for the good of the environment. Unfortunately, this is not a joke and it is not an exaggeration. As you will see below, these people are very, very serious. To these eco-fascists, climate change is the number one threat to the earth, and in order to eliminate that threat "democracy must be put on hold", an authoritarian world government must be established and we need to start getting rid of as many humans as possible.
Posted below is a new video about the importance of fighting "climate change" that was recently released by a prominent global warming activist organization known as 10:10 Global. This short video depicts children and adults being savagely blown to pieces for not reducing their carbon footprints. The organization has since pulled the video and has issued an apology, but the fact that anyone would actually put out such a video is absolutely chilling. In fact, there are many advocates of the green agenda who wish that they could actually press a button and do this kind of thing to "climate change deniers"....
Unfortunately, this type of thinking is not confined to just a few environmental nutcases. For example, Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates is absolutely obsessed with global warming and with population control.
The video posted next contains excerpts from a speech that Gates gave at a recent TED conference. As you watch this, keep in mind that Gates has personally donated hundreds of millions of dollars towards the development of new vaccines and towards "reproductive health" initiatives around the globe.
During his speech, Gates presents a formula for calculating the carbon dioxide that he believes is causing global warming....
CO2 = P x S x E x C
P = People
S = Services per person
E = Energy per service
C = CO2 per energy unit
In the video that you are about to watch below, Gates tells the audience that in order to get carbon dioxide levels on earth down to where they need to be, then "probably one of these numbers is going to have to get pretty close to zero."
So which of those numbers is going to get pretty close to zero?
Will it be "P"?
In the video, Gates describes how the number of people might be reduced....
"The world today has 6.8 billion people... that's headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent."
Now wait a second.
Aren't vaccines, health care and reproductive health services supposed to help people live longer?
Keep that question in mind as you watch this video....
There are others in the environmental movement who are even more open about what they feel needs to be done in order to save the planet from humanity.
For example, James Lovelock, the creator of the Gaia hypothesis, stated in an interview with the Guardian earlier this year that "democracy must be put on hold" if the fight against global warming is going to be successful and that only "a few people with authority" should be permitted to rule the planet until the crisis is solved.
A Finnish environmentalist named Pentti Linkola has gone even farther than that. Linkola is openly calling for climate change deniers to be "re-educated", for an eco-fascist world government to be established, for humans to be forcibly sterilized and for the majority of humans to be killed.
The following is how author Paul Joseph Watson recently described some of Linkola's proposals....
Under Linkola’s proposal to save earth from man-made climate change, “only a few million people would work as farmers and fishermen, without modern conveniences such as the automobile.” This system would be enforced by the creation of a “Green Police” who would abandon “the syrup of ethics” that governs human behavior to completely dominate the population.
Linkola calls for forced abortions, while also adding that another world war would be “a happy occasion for the planet” because it would eradicate tens of millions of people. The environmentalist believes that only jackbooted tyranny can help to save mother earth from “the worst ideologies in the world” which he defines as “growth and freedom”.
Unfortunately, this kind of insanity does not just reside in Finland.
The reality is that academia is brimming with nutjobs such as this who want to see the vast majority of humanity wiped out.
For example, Professor of Biology at the University of Texas at Austin Eric R. Pianka is another advocate of radical human population control.
In an article entitled "What nobody wants to hear, but everyone needs to know", Pianka made the following shocking statements....
*First, and foremost, we must get out of denial and recognize that Earth simply cannot support many billions of people.
*This planet might be able to support perhaps as many as half a billion people who could live a sustainable life in relative comfort. Human populations must be greatly diminished, and as quickly as possible to limit further environmental damage.
*I do not bear any ill will toward humanity. However, I am convinced that the world WOULD clearly be much better off without so many of us.
Now keep in mind that this is a professor that is teaching our kids. People actually pay a lot of money to get educated by this guy.
Unfortunately, his views are very much representative of the mainstream these days.
In fact, some of the wealthiest and most prominent people in the world are absolutely obsessed with the green agenda and with population control. Just consider the following quotes....
David Rockefeller: "The negative impact of population growth on all of our planetary ecosystems is becoming appallingly evident."
CNN Founder Ted Turner: "A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."
Dave Foreman, Earth First Co-Founder: "My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with it’s full complement of species, returning throughout the world."
Maurice Strong: "Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?"
Michael Oppenheimer: "The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States. We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the US. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are."
Not only that, but this radical population control agenda has actually reached the highest levels of the U.S. government.
In an absolutely shocking interview with the New York Times, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg openly admitted that abortion is all about population control. In particular, she confessed that abortion is about getting rid of "populations that we don't want to have too many of"....
"Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of."
So was she asked to step down from the Supreme Court?
Did anyone make much of a fuss?
No, Ginsburg is still serving on the Supreme Court and that statement is long forgotten.
You see, the truth is that this population control philosophy runs rampant throughout the highest levels of the U.S. government.
John P. Holdren, Barack Obama's top science advisor, co-authored a textbook entitled "Ecoscience" back in 1977 in which he actually advocated mass sterilization, compulsory abortion, a one world government and a global police force to enforce population control.
On page 837 of Ecoscience, a claim is made that compulsory abortion would be perfectly legal under the U.S. Constitution....
“Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.”
On pages 942 and 943, a call is made for the creation of a "planetary regime" that would control the global economy and enforce population control measures....
Toward a Planetary Regime
“Perhaps those agencies, combined with UNEP and the United Nations population agencies, might eventually be developed into a Planetary Regime—sort of an international superagency for population, resources, and environment. Such a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable, at least insofar as international implications exist. Thus the Regime could have the power to control pollution not only in the atmosphere and oceans, but also in such freshwater bodies as rivers and lakes that cross international boundaries or that discharge into the oceans. The Regime might also be a logical central agency for regulating all international trade, perhaps including assistance from DCs to LDCs, and including all food on the international market.”
“The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries’ shares within their regional limits. Control of population size might remain the responsibility of each government, but the Regime would have some power to enforce the agreed limits.”
On page 917, the authors advocate the surrender of U.S. national sovereignty to an international organization....
“If this could be accomplished, security might be provided by an armed international organization, a global analogue of a police force. Many people have recognized this as a goal, but the way to reach it remains obscure in a world where factionalism seems, if anything, to be increasing. The first step necessarily involves partial surrender of sovereignty to an international organization.”
You see, that is what those obsessed with the green agenda want.
They want total control of us all so that they can impose the measures that they believe are necessary to "fix" the planet.
Unfortunately, the measures that they believe are necessary would make George Orwell's 1984 look like a Sunday picnic.
And the sad thing is that the world is not anywhere close to overpopulated. If you took 6 billion people and put them four to house on a quarter acre of land, you could fit them all in Alaska and still have room to spare.

The Carbon Sense Coalition today called on Australians and Americans to join the world in celebrating Climate Fools Day on October 27th.
The Chairman of “Carbon Sense”, Mr Viv Forbes, said that Climate Fools Day was named by protestors outside the British House of Commons on 27th October 2008 when the house was debating the Climate Bill.
Forbes explained:
“As the first October snow in 70 years blanketed the House (and a big swathe of Europe), MP’s droned on about the need to fight global warming.
“For six hours MP’s reassured one another about the desperate need to be the first government in the world to saddle its unfortunate people with a burden estimated at £15 billion a year. As snow continued to blanket Westminster, only two MP’s questioned the huge cost and dubious benefits from the energy taxes and green energy rorts they were imposing.
“Christopher Booker of the Daily Telegraph noted gloomily:
“If the Bill's intent is taken seriously, the cost of cutting our CO2 emissions by 80 per cent would cripple our economy, closing down much of what remains of our industry and rendering most motorised transport impossible.”
“Nigel Lawson said in the House of Lords at the time:
“The Bill will go down in history, and future generations will see it, as the most absurd Bill that this House and Parliament has ever had to examine".

US publisher, Stairway Press, have chosen the Climate Fools Day gathering in Westminster to make the inaugural presentation of the "Ernst-Georg Beck Award for Scientific Integrity and Competence" (BASIC). Piers Corbyn gets the US$10,000 award for “his untiring efforts both as a climate skeptic and for his outstanding success in long-range weather forecasting”.

Al Gore — He did it again.
Recently, Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore toured again. Or maybe he does that all the time. This time, he turned up in Gothenburg (Sweden) for the usual alarmist talk. In advance, all distinguished guests were politely advised to – if possible – use any form of public transportation to go to the event, in order to minimize CO2 emissions.
Intriguingly, the Master of World Climate himself arrived in a rental car (with or without driver is unclear), from the airport, and subsequently left the engine running for the entire lecture. That is to say, about one hour. Incidentally, local legislation prohibits – for very good environmental reasons, i e pollution – any car engine running on empty for more than 60 seconds. Fines are severe. As far as I know, he was not fined.
It starts to form a pattern.
After the ceremony in the Norwegian capital Oslo, it is customary that the laureate is invited to the Swedish capital Stockholm, for a cordial visit. The train ride, supposedly the environmental choice according to Mr. Gore, is approximately four hours. However, he opted for the cosier ride with one of the Swedish government aircrafts. As these can, according to the rules, only be used when a cabinet member is on board – and as the Swedish government after a short ceremonial visit – offered to fly him to Frankfurt (Germany) for his flight to the US, you can calculate both the manpower and the fuel used for this grand tour against man’s destruction of the planet.
Stupidity and hypocracy – as well as vanity – are, like it or not common human traits. I admit to some of them occasionally, but I don’t demand taxpayers to finance my stupid talks at dinner (yes, I love doing that). Here’s the deal Mr Gore: get out of my way, and I will keep out of yours.

Now It’s The Turn Of The Warming Alarmists For Fear

Be very afraid said Gordon Brown there are only 50 days to save the world as the run up to the Climate Scam began, for Obama the Science was settled.
Once Copenhagen got under way Brown arrived and started peddling fear again for the western world and bribes for the third world.
Despite their best efforts to steam roller through the biggest scam in History, they failed and they failed monumentally.
This year has seen the appalling exploitation of children, their innocence slaughtered on the altar of the Church of Climatology and the rise of eco terrorism from Greenpeace, Earthfirst and Grist.org
Fear of the bogeyman in this case a gas named CO2, fear of all the Glaciers going, fear of this junk science fact or that junk science fact and when the science fear failed the threat of direct action and overt threats of violence.
Tomorrow America goes to the polls to vote on 2 years of Barack Hussein Obama’s record, and Obama and the Democrats are going to get hammered, in a defeat that will make Gordon Brown’s worst moment look positively encouraging Obama, Pelosi and Reid are going to get theirs.
Obama has tried to force Cap n’ Trade through and failed, so in typical socialist fashion Obama tried to force Climate Religion through the back door via the EPA.
In Britain a lacklustre white wash inquiry let Phil Jones off the hook, the same happened at Penn State where Michael Mann and his hockey stick were white washed, the warming alarmists believed that they could move on and business as usual could resume with biodiversity and ocean acidification as the new bogeymen.
All this is about to change:
Republican leaders have begun gathering evidence for sweeping investigations of Barack Obama’s environmental agenda, from climate science to the BP oil spill, if as expected, they take control of the House of Representatives in the 2 November mid-term elections, the Guardian has learned.
“We are already getting posturing from some of the potential committee chairs that they will turn their committees into investigating committees,” said Kate Gordon, who oversees energy policy at the Centre for American Progress Action Fund. “I think there is a potential for the EPA and the entire administration to be called into hearing after hearing after hearing.”
There has been talk of criminal charges since Climategate by Republican politicians so the warming alarmists should be afraid, very afraid. They tried and failed to con us with their AGW scam and now there must be a full accounting.
Jeff Ruch, the director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, said his organisation had been contacted by Issa’s staff looking into charges that the Obama administration knowingly played down estimates of the oil spill.
He said he expected a far more aggressive investigation than any of those seen so far. “They won’t pull punches and will put people under oath and will pursue it until they get something,” Ruch said. “They will be looking for heads, not just the facts.”
Once Michael Mann is charged, what chance does Phil Jones have of escaping prosecution here?
The investigative zeal is fuelled by the rise of Tea Party candidates for whom climate change denial verges on an article of faith.
The Guardian a long time Church of Climatology publication referring to non belief in the Church of Climatology as a religion, makes about as much sense as the Man Made Climate Change Lie.
Not only the scientists, the organisations up to their armpits in complicity in the scam like WWF, Friends of The Earth, Greenpeace et al, the BBC need to be investigated and criminal charges brought where appropriate.
Politicians like Barack Obama, Gordon Brown, Ed Miliband, Chris Huhne, David Cameron, Tim Yeo and many others were either conned or complicit in the AGW scam, and need to be held to account, if they were too stupid to see they were being conned then they simply go, otherwise it is time for criminal charges and jail sentences.

Scientific American Poll: 81% think the IPCC is Corrupt, with Group-think & Political Agenda
'Scientific' American may regret taking their recent opinion poll on the state of climate science given the eye-opening results cast by their "scientifically literate" readership.
