You've got the wrong end of the stick here.
Mr Shayler was CRAVING ever more extreme drug experiences.
He would have got them from wherever he could ... and he saw them as part of his new 'liberated' post MI5 personality.
Please don't shoot the drug messenger as the drug taking was motivated by Dave himself.
