Quote: | A US judge has sentenced former key White House official Lewis Libby to 30 months in prison.
Libby was found guilty of obstruction of justice and perjury in March over the investigation into the unmasking of CIA officer Valerie Plame.
Libby was the former chief of staff to Vice-President Dick Cheney.
Nobody has ever been charged with the offence of leaking the name of Valerie Plame, whose husband had criticised the war in Iraq.
US District Judge Reggie B Walton said the evidence overwhelmingly proved Mr Libby's guilt.
"People who occupy these types of positions, where they have the welfare and security of [the] nation in their hands, have a special obligation to not do anything that might create a problem," Judge Walton said in delivering the sentence. |

Funny...as I was watching the Channel Four News earlier on this issue and seeing "Scooter" Libby being heckled by the protestors shouting:
"Take Cheyney with you" made me do something I hadn't done for ages...one of those celebratory air punches. You know the type...
"YES!"
This means that the word is getting-out or at least this will present questioning by some viewers....
"Why Cheyney? What has he done wrong?"
It's just a matter of time because the truth always comes out!

Temporary but not insignificant drama via patsy "He was a Scooter boy..." Libby.
Trial started 16.1.7
Found guilty on 6.3.7
1 month and 19th day of his trial.
1 day and 19o weeks after Novak outed Plame on 14.7.3
Indicted and forced to resign on 28.10.5
9 months, 1 week and 1 day into the GVI's 2nd term.
Sentenced on 5.6.7
An interval of 1 week and 19 months.
He won't do time.
Might have been foolish to follow it.
Oh well. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

By the way, Plame was finally confirmed as being covert at the time she was outed by Fitzgerald. Conservatives denied it adamantly. |

Prison sentence commuted to a fine by the GVI on 2.7.2007
The 119th day of Libby's guilty verdict.
Like I said, the numbers said he won't do time and now we know he won't. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

WHAT??????
This is unbelievable!! Well. Actually only too believable but utterly outrageous. Bush isn't even making the pretence of keeping up appearances any more. He never pardoned anyone who was due to be executed while he was governer of Texas yet he reckons Libby's 30 month term was excessive.
"I respect the jury's verdict," President Bush said. "But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr Libby is excessive," Mr Bush said.
So genius boy has concluded the prison sentence is excessive? And then quashes the entire thing?
Sickening. Truely sickening. _________________ Only sheep need a leader. |

Quote: | US President George W Bush has refused to rule out pardoning former White House aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby, convicted over a CIA-leak case.
Mr Bush commuted Libby's 30-month jail sentence on Monday, drawing criticism from political opponents.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the move showed Mr Bush condoned criminal conduct, and Hillary Clinton said he elevated cronyism over the rule of law.
Libby must still serve a two-year probation and pay a $250,000 fine.
