At May's AGM in Leeds we agreed to delegate a press officer to deal with seat of the pants situations like this.
Dear Committee,
What's the progress..........................? |
An important question! We need this press officer now. |

Minutes
Quote: | In view of the fact there is frequent confusion (especially in the minds of the public and the press) as to the policies of the 9/11 Truth Campaign (Britain and Ireland), the Campaign committee shall appoint a press officer, or officers, answerable to the committee, whose role it shall be to outline to the media and the public what the policies of the Campaign are. It shall also be the role of the press officer(s) to prepare, in negotiation with the committee and leading activists, press statements for release. |
I agree it would be helpful. Any volunteers to undertake this role should contact me or another committee member.
More generally I would say
1) we have gone some way to clarifying any confusion by a partial redesign on this site and an overhaul of the campaign site and more is in the pipeline
2) a press officer would not necessarily be the same as some one who represents the 911 campaign to the media since they are 2 different set of skills
3) we do have a voice, thousands of them. One way to respond to incidents such as the recent alleged attempted bombings is for individuals to take the initiative and prepare their own letters/statements and then invite others to express their support either through online petitions or a 'sign-on' letter or in the form of an open letter. One model to look at is media-lens' alerts that empower individual activists to right own letters based on an initial analysis by medialens

But, please anyone, who feels they have the time and ability to act as a 'press officer' or just wants to discuss further contact me. |

Agreed. We urgently need some sort of media influence.
Rebuttal of the 24 hour biased news coverage is NOT happening because nobody is there to counter it.
The BBC and sky would certainly accept a PR person from the uk truth campaign to balance the argument, they always do on other issues.
So i would say the appointment of at least one press officer / public relations person has become critical. We should even think about funding an office because the same argument also applies in reverse - suppose the media wanted to get hold of us to give them our version of events, we dont have an office or a phone listing or an address. so in media eyes we dont exist.
the appointment of at least one press officer / public relations person has become critical.
Our silence is deafening _________________

We do have a contact number and email that does get a prompt response
http://www.911truthcampaign.net/contact.php
A press officer role I suggest would be responsible for drafting press releases/open letters, maintaining a database of press contacts and sounding out possible opportunities to get our message in the press and braodcast media
This would not necessarily be the same as representing the campaign on TV and radio which requires a combination of good knowledge, confidence and ability to be articulate and credible whilst under pressure.
Volunteers please PM me |
