British forces useless in Basra, say officials
Tim Shipman in Washington, Sunday Telegraph

When America's top commanders in Iraq held a conference with their British counterparts recently, Major General Jonathan Shaw - Britain's senior officer in Basra - was quick to share his views on how best to conduct counter-insurgency operations.

For much of the last four years, the Americans in the room would have listened carefully, used to deferring to their British colleagues' long experience in Northern Ireland. This time, however, eyes that would once have been attentive simply rolled.

It seems that the British have lost favour in Iraq, according to the Times today, a withdrawl from Basra could cost lives, British soldiers were to expect a barrage of attacks as they with draw from the area.

Maybe sending in the two SAS guys dressed as Arabs, causing mayhem, getting them arrested legally and then illegally freeing them, didn't help?

I feel that British Soldiers quickly realised they were in a criminal, unsupported, politically motivated agressive war and against the interests of the people. They had a close up look at American Bully Boy Tactics and don't like what they see, again, at all. They hear from Afghanistan about the Poppy Fields. They know the real injury and death stats. At least some of them are clued up on 9/11 truth.

Who can blame them for being very very uninterested in further involvement. This is one of the reasons the EU is such a problem. The British Troops will not kill and imprison their own people. I cannot believe that until I see it happening. The Idiot Police will of course. And so will foreign troops sent in after the EU combination army is formed. The EU MUST be stopped. The troops MUST come home.

Tell me about it, the whole EU thing is getting really scary, we are have the constitution in place with no agreement, a prime minister we didn't vote in and a possible EU defence (tyranny) force. Bet if our troops join an EU defence force it won't be British troops quelling British dissenters!

For years I thought the EU was a wonderful thing, and then I woke up.....

How scary is the whole New World Order thing? The more you read the more terrifying it becomes. I suppose I also become more resolute too, I think of my kids and the world they could face as adults....

I wouldn't say totally useless.
They do serve some purpose.
They indirectly aid the collapse of the US Empire showing how pointless they are. They have probably lost a lot of weapons to the insurgents. They have exposed the lies regarding democracy and dictatorship when in reality all we have is an occupation of mass looting, torture, black ops, etc all with the aim of partitioning Iraq as if we are still in the 19th century.

They remind the world of the failures of the British Empire and its total and utter impotency as an appendage of the collapsing US Empire. Tied by an umbilical cord to the Yankees only if they Yanks cut them out will they leave. They have no room for independent thought or action.
