Anyone else feel the manifestation of todays society is deliberate to implement the Big Brother State??
Here's a clip from MSNs mainpage! http://news.uk.msn.com/it-is-good-to-live-in-Britain.aspx
Quote:
It’s anarchy on the streets. An 11-year-old boy has been shot dead in Liverpool in the latest tragic incident of a particularly violent year. Feral youths are prowling around making it unsafe for people to go out after dark. Knife crime has doubled in two years and life is becoming increasingly cheap. Anyone that stands up to this emerging yob culture is likely to get seriously hurt or worse. This is the current state of Britain, or so a large percentage of the media would have us believe.

The article does finish on a plus but it seems a drop in the ocean compared to all the repeated bad news day in day out.

Silent weapons for quiet wars
Quote:
The quality of education given to the lower class must be of the poorest sort, so that the moat of ignorance isolating the inferior class from the superior class is and remains incomprehensible to the inferior class. With such an initial handicap, even bright lower class individuals have little if any hope of extricating themselves from their assigned lot in life. This form of slavery is essential to maintain some measure of social order, peace, and tranquillity for the ruling upper class.

"or so a large percentage of the media would have us believe."

Surely not? Smile

To answer your question... yes. I think todays society is highly artificial and it has been deliberatley engineered in oh so many ways to our detriment!

Ok there's an error, who doesn't make mistakes?

But...

Why the meanness?

Why are we so quick to allude to what supposedly separates us?

Those bloodthirsty bozos at the top of the pyramid can't create. They only know destruction in their inbreed DNA. The best they have got is the hegelian model, thesis/antithesis/synthesis or problem reaction solution. so at best they guide balls into pockets for usefull idiots to pick out as if they made these decisions themselves.

In terms of the current polietical machine it seems to be following the chaotic gospel of Erin (keltik godess of chaos). the more order imposed the more chaos created. The state authority apparatus expands and provides more surfaces for human traffic to friction against and consequently the newspaper editors are happy.

Teens are essentially only acting out what those at the top of the "human market sweep" pyramid do to thousands of us with pen strokes.

It would be nice to think so, wouldn't it?

I'll tell you one thing: I've debated on just about every kind of forum going: and no matter what that forum is, one sees the same behaviours, just wearing different dresses

That's Humanity!

And I Love us, every single one of us

'Course its more obvious at the extremes:

I go to the dawkins forums, I see religionists dive bombing it "you are all deluded!" etc

I go to Religionist forums, I see Dawkinists dive bombing it "you are all deluded!" etc

I like to conclude theres a lot of delusion going around! Laughing

Hell why not give up our Bank Holidays while we're at it? Wow I know its not meant to be taken too seriously but it does lead to a certain thought process, maybe us slaves need pushing that little harder?

What the hell as Liberals got to do with any of it?? Its way above the petty minds of a handfull of cretins in public view Razz
Liberal Thinking is not the problem, its Liberal Non-thinking I'm afraid of. As the problems facing our lives are neither of the above I'd say our rulers have alot to answer for!

Quote:
Liberalism refers to a broad array of related ideas and theories of government that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.[1] Liberalism has its roots in the Western Age of Enlightenment.

Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Different forms of liberalism may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy, and a transparent system of government.[2] All liberals - as well as some adherents of other political ideologies - support the form of government known as liberal democracy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law.[3]

Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions that dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Social progressivism, the belief that traditions do not carry any inherent value and social practices ought to be continuously adjusted for the greater benefit of humanity, is a common component of liberal ideology. Liberalism is also strongly associated with the belief that human society should be organized in accordance with certain unchangeable and inviolable rights. Different schools of liberalism are based on different conceptions of human rights, but there are some rights that all liberals support, including rights to life, liberty, and property.

Within liberalism, there are two major currents of thought that often compete over the use of the term "liberal" and have been known to clash on many issues. Classical liberals emphasize free private enterprise, individual property rights, laissez-faire economic policy, and freedom of contract, and opposes the welfare state. Classical liberals support equality before the law, but hold that economic inequality, arising from competition in the free market, does not justify wealth redistribution by governments. [4] Social liberals advocate a greater degree of government influence to protect individual rights (in a broad sense), often in the form of anti-discrimination laws. Social liberals support universal education, and many also support the provision of welfare, including benefits for the unemployed, housing for the homeless, and medical care for the sick, all supported by progressive taxation.

Oh and what on earth you doing moaning on here about the situation if you don't agree with this statement?

Nah! We all make grammatical errors and sometimes we deliberately use non-standard grammar for a special effect, such as informality, innit?

The quirks of English grammar never fail to fascinate me.

"Is today's society being created" is the Present Continuous tense, the tense we use to imply that something is still in the process of happening but is, as yet, unfinished.

"Has today's society been created" is the Present Perfect tense, the one we use to speak of the present result of a past action. I'm not quite sure which of these two options Uma intended.
