A town called Paktia in Afghanistan near to the Helmand province was bought lock, stock and barrell by the Brits recently for $7million.
Good deal you might think.
considering the town was sitting on a rich deposit of gold and aincient artifacts over 2000 years old. One could argue that any one of those artifacts may have fetched $7million on the open market.
The locals were happy with the money and promptly exchanged cash for Misubishi Shoguns and Pajeros.
It is almost like the white man exchanging whisky for gold in the old wild west.
Artifacts include ivory statues from the days of Alexander the Greek and Roman, Chinese and Indian art from over 2000 years ago. Much of it priceless and buried in underground tombs and caves.
The town was levelled and the booty excavated and removed. You might see some of it one day in the British museum.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Every day large container loads of food arrive into Baghram base to resupply the American troops. As you know American troops never eat local food always prefering their own peanut butter cups and Saltines passover wafers.
However what may not have been widely known is that those 'empty' containers do not go back to Uncle Sam empty.
You might think that these containers are full of heroin, but that would be too obvious. They are actually going back full of metals and minerals such as rare earths, emeralds, rodium, uranium, etc.
The real reason why the US action has been concentrated in the Tor Bora region and the Bagram region is because Afghanistan was sitiing on rich deposits of several valuable and rare commodities which are being ruthlessly excavated and removed without a penny in compensation tot he government.
The government dont really mind because Hamid Kharzai is the biggest heroin exporter of all and is funnelling away billions every month.
This occupation is basically the systematic rape of a country and it's people. Looting a countries resources and wealth and heritage. _________________

None of the American Indians are related to Afghans.
Afghans are related to asian Indians, Persians, Mongols and Greeks and Chinese.
The fact is their country is being asset stripped.
Same with Kosovo.
Where the US have established their base is located within an extinct volcano and the surrounding mountains. They have been mining ore from this region since day one. In fact that is why the Soviets used to prize Kosovo because it was blessed with mineral deposits.
It is like a hedge fund makes a hostile takeover of a company then asset strips it and the US is doing the same with Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. Extracting everything worth having and then one day leaving the empty barren land poisoned by Depleted Uranium.
I think the asset stripping should be talked about because it shows that Bush aand his gang are just armed robbers with the blood of a million innocents on their hamds. _________________

The Powers that be don't care about much now. They know something big is going to happen to the planet that will make their rape and pillage inconsequential. They hope to sit in underground bunkers and ride it out. |

Does it sound like the US in Afghanistan are copying a trend most Bond villians do when establishing bases?
Wonder if they will end up calling themselves SPECTRE.
Sorry to mess up an otherwise seroious thread. |

The UN passed a resolution to cut down heroin production by awarding any farmer who removes opium poppies from their land $250 per acre.
So the farmers grow poppies, remove them, claim their $250 bonus, and sell the removed poppies to drug traffickers.
You could see it as a reward scheme for growing smack, or you could see it as an anti drugs sanction. It's just how you look at it.
The ultimate effect is that heroin production upped by a huge amount since this sanction was declared. _________________
