Russia has field-tested one of the country's Strategic Missile Forces (SMF)'s anti-ballistic missiles in Kazakhstan, Russian media say.
The test launch of RS-18 (SS-19 Stiletto) from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan was conducted on Tuesday without complication, the Russian press agency RIA Novosti quoted a SMF spokesman as saying.
The launch of the rocket is part of the country's test-firing such armaments at intervals for gauging their performance and seeing whether they were still of application as weapons of defense.

The two stage liquid-propellant missile, which is meant to perform as an interceptor, has been in service for 29 years now and can carry as much as four tons as far as 10,000 km.
However, SMF commander Colonel General Nikolai Solovtsov said RS-18 is to be scrapped in the future and superseded by new RS-24 ICBMs, equipped with MIRV warheads and characterized by high missile-defense penetration capability.......
