Mischief: series 2 : "Bust my Ass" BBC Three Programme which dealt with some decent areas of freedom...

Quote:

Journalist Sam Delaney has a hunch that we are living in a 'Big Brother state'. He believes since New Labour came to power, over 3000 new offences have been created that can get you 'nicked'; the police have greater powers of arrest and every day there is a new initiative to monitor ordinary people.

Sam embarks on a mission to help those worst affected by this clampdown on civil liberties to fight back – to defend long held freedoms. He decides to assemble a bunch of New Labour 'criminals' – ordinary people who have been arrested for heinous new 'crimes'. With the help of a top criminal barrister, he tries to find ways in which they can do what they want without getting into trouble with the Law.

For a start, what’s wrong with a T-shirt which says '* to Blair' - is it is the word "*", or the fact that people are criticising the Prime Minister. There’s only one way to find out – take a box of the offending items to a public event and see whether anyone objects to wearing them. Or, perhaps, they’d prefer Sam’s alternative T-shirts, one saying - 'Testicles To Tony'.

Next stop is the Shadow Attorney General, Dominic Grieve to seek his advice on a range of slogans that Sam would like to parade around Westminster. He’s advised that they could all get him arrested – but the Tories top spokesman on law and order sees no problem with the slogans, however provocative or bizarre – even one that states 'Cameron Blows Goats'.

Sam eventually ends up in the former communist-bloc Albania – once notorious for its hardline stance on civil liberties. He drafts in a group of Albanians to protest outside their Parliament on our behalf displaying banners saying ‘Free Protest for the UK.’ Against expectations, there’s no problem – the police don’t object, no one gets arrested and the demonstration passes without any incident – a far cry from what happens outside the mother of parliaments back in Britain.

Very digestible for the masses in a good way.....worth watching actually.
Had footage of protests outside Parliament and people getting arrested under the serious & organised crime act for simply standing there....

In fact - it did a decent job of showing the police state up for what it is (in a simple way)
Even mentions that our freedoms have been snatched since 9/11 & 7/7 and has a great piece that shows the talking cameras in Middlesbrough - and just how disgusting they are.

I need to find out when it's on again so I can record it - It's a good watch for people who generally aren't interested at the moment. Slightly comical edge to the show but you still get the serious message.

'Bust My Ass' - is this guy American?

If not, people really should boycott his programme on principle, until he learns to speak English.

Sounds good despite the title.

It appears this is a re-run as it first showed in June.

Here's a torrent version of the June show (some appear to be still active though slow)

ahh, awesome. I missed the first 25 minutes so cheers!

I never thought to check for torrents since I assumed it was new.

I'd like to hear what others think about it.
