Not a frequent air traveller so dont know if this is routine (it certainly wasnt last time I flew at Easter. My brother flew into Gatwick and he said that at passport control a camera was photographing everyone as they passed through. The lady in front of my brother was actually asked to specifically move her head to look at the camera. All seems very odd considering youve just shown your passport with your photograph in. Dont know if the passport control officer entered any data from the passport to link it with the photograph being taken or whether they just use the photographs to scan across a data base of undesirables.
My wife has now got into the habit at pulling tongues at cameras at traffic lights. I think we should start a national campaign with a recognisable gesture ( 2 fingers being the obvious one) or perhaps a V vendetta mask which we put on and face the camera. I believe you cannot be convicted for offending a camera and as 2 fingers has at least a quadruple meaning (peace, victory, vendetta and **** off) I cant see how any cctv viewer could be offended. Maybe we could get Sir Richard Branson to endorse the campaign ( V for Virgin) _________________ JO911B.

The new IRIS system is live at quite a few airports now.
The cameras you mention might not be IRIS though. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

Surely, the two finger V (victory) sign is the reverse way around to that of F off?
Of course, few people are forced to fly, you could simply turn around and leave the moment you realise having your picture taken is expected of you - you agreed at the stage when you applied for your passport - so what has changed in the meantime?
If we all simply stopped using airports, there would be far less pollution, new terminals and runways wouldn't be needed and no-one would have to show their passports and have their photo taken under such circumstances. Unfortunately this isn't the case and that is the procedure you have to embrace if you wish to use those facilities.
It's all a matter of choice, much like taking driving lessons and finding out you are obligated to stop at red traffic lights and abide by speed restrictions = no-one forces you to drive, but there are compulsory rules if you do. _________________ I completely challenge the official version of events - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC -I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC |

Not to worry - we can all look at the photo you had taken at the airport and remember your sweet smiling face.
