Bin Laden message 'to be aired'

Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is to address the people of Europe in a new message, according to the terror network's media production arm.
The claim was made in an advertisement posted on an Islamic militant website on Monday, featuring Bin Laden's image.

As-Sahab did not say when the message would be aired or whether it would be a video or audio recording.

Last month, an audio tape purportedly by Osama Bin Laden urged insurgent groups in Iraq to unify their ranks.

In it, the speaker said the strength of faith was in bonds between Muslims, not in a tribe, nationalism or an organisation.

'Driving a wedge'

A message released on 20 September called for a holy war against Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf.

The al-Qaeda leader also issued a video message to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the 11 September attacks on the United States.

Osama Bin Laden, despite his geographical isolation, has always shown a keen interest in the global media.

Correspondents say Bin Laden has often tried to sway the opinions of the Western public in the hopes of driving a wedge between them and their leaders, and between European countries and his most hated enemy, the US government.

Islamist site says new Bin Laden message soon

Mon Nov 26, 2007 3:22pm EST

Bush administration denies leaking al Qaeda video

DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will address the people of Europe in a message to be posted on the Internet "soon", an Islamist Web site said on Monday.

"Soon, God willing, (we will post) a new message to the European people from the lion Imam who defeated the Americans and tyrants, Sheikh Osama bin Laden," said the pro-al Qaeda Web site which regularly posts messages from the militant leader.

"Let this message be posted by various Western Web sites so that we deliver to them the truth of their lost war and (confront) them with the purposely hidden fact," it said, adding that the message was produced by al Qaeda media arm As-Sahab.

It did not give any further details.

The Web site did not give a specific timeframe, but usually messages are released within 72 hours after they are announced.

Bin Laden's last message was released on October 22. The Saudi-born militant then urged unity between Iraq's Sunni rebels.

Especially when they're in the do-do eh?

Oh and especially when John Bolton has just spent ages on TV warning us that the EU position on Iran isn't working . . .

Maybe UBL's ghost is going to warn us Europeans about the dangers of the EU?

Father Christmas is coming down my chimney this year . . .

SITE "Institute"

Quote:
SITE Intelligence Group has learned that a new message is forthcoming from Usama bin Laden, the head of Al-Qaeda, addressing the European people. The message is produced by As-Sahab, the multimedia arm of Al-Qaeda. The announcement of this impending released was posted to jihadist forums today, Monday, November 26, 2007, and carried a statement urging jihadists to distribute this notice to various Western sites to “convey to them the reality of losing their war and facing the reality of the unseen truth”.

Except the things is, the only sites that I know of, and Mr & Mrs Joe Public know of that are distributing and have distributed UBL's alleged messages around the globe are:

Reuters

BBC

SITE Institute.

The entire world's media

UBL wrote:
I wanted to distribute my message on jihadi websites, mostly based in the USA, but wanted the world's media to have their scoop first because I am interested in global media and I am committed to an inclusive "No Media Left Behind" public relations policy. I am thinking of trading my press releases in Euros instead of dollars and moving my servers to Europe so that I can further upset that nasty man in the White House. Hence my message to all you good Europeans. Besides, most of the world doesn't visit jihadi websites so my message might never have been noticed by the vast majority of people and at the end of the day, it's all about bums on seats. Thank you.

We tried to contact UBL's PR people in Washington but they were unavailable for comment.

That's the image of OBL mark 1 you have shown. Will the announcement be from OBL mark 1 (whose funeral was reported in December 2001), OBL mark 2 (who has a fatter face, a shorter, broader nose and straighter eyebrows) or OBL mark 3 who has a shorter, black beard?

Link to the Guardian video (a still picture) of the "new Bin Laden audio tape".

Transcript of the subtitles accompanying "the message" entitled: To the European Peoples.

Someone claiming to be UBL wrote:
This message of mine is to the peoples of the states allied to America, in the invasion of Afghanistan, and I mention specifically Europe.

Peace be on those who follow the guidance:

It isn't hidden from you that the Afghans have tasted the two bitterest things for two decades at the hands of the Russians and their communist agents, but they persevered, fought and were resolute and victorious, by the Grace of Allah.

And before their wounds had healed and their grief had ended, they were invaded without right by your unjust governments, without stopping to think about or reflect on Bush's claim that this invasion was a response to the events of the 11th although - as I mentioned previously - the events of Manhattan were a response to the American-Israeli coalition's murder of our people in Palestine and Lebanon.

And it was I who was responsible for 9/11, and I stress that all Afghans - both government and people - had no knowledge of these events, and America knows that, because some of the Taliban's ministers fell into it's hands as captives, and they were interrogated and that became known.

And that's why the Taliban government requested America to produce the evidence for the truth of it's claims prior to the invasion, but it didn't produce any evidence, and instead insisted on invading; and Europe marched behind it in that, and had no choice but to be it's vassal.

It suffices as evidence of this, your entering of this war and your excusing of American soldiers from being held to account by the European courts.

For this reason, this address of mine is to you, not to your politicians, as it is no longer a secret that Blair, Brown, Berlusconi, Aznar, Sarkozy and those with him and their like love to shade themselves in the shade of the White House. And there isn't a major difference worth mentioning between them and many of the leaders of the Third World.

So to summarize, in this war you have combined two injustices:

The first is that this war was waged against the Afghans without right. You didn't have even one piece of evidence suitable for submission to a court.

Additionally you destroyed some of the camps of al-Qaida and killed some of it's members, and you captured others, most of who were from Pakistan.

So what is the sin of the Afghans due to which you are continuing this unjust war against them ?

Their only sin is that they are Muslims, and this illustrates the extent of the Crusaders' hatred of Islam and it's people.

Second, in this war, you have not observed the ethics and protocol of warfare.

Most of your victims - as a result of the bombing - are women and children and intentionally so. You know that our women don't fight, yet you target them even on days of celebration, knowingly and adamantly, hoping by that to break the morale of the Mujahideen.

This will not benefit you, however, for we are resolute and, by the Grace of Allah, the Glorious and Great.

They charge you for this over at the "SITE Institute". Wink

Maybe we're not being shown the whole message as the Guardian version only lasts 3 minutes 14 seconds, whereas SITE claim:

SITE wrote:
Usama bin Laden, the head of Al-Qaeda, presents a message addressed to the European peoples in a 5:01 minute audio speech prepared by As-Sahab, the multimedia army of Al-Qaeda, and issued to jihadist forums today, Thursday, November 29, 2007. Excerpts from the speech were broadcast hours prior by the Arabic-satellite channel, Al-Jazeera. The speech was prepared as video with a static image of bin Laden, and was issued in three varieties: Arabic audio with English subtitles, Arabic audio with German subtitles, and Pashto audio with English subtitles. In his speech, bin Laden urges the European peoples to pressure their leaders to cease cooperation with U.S. foreign policy, particularly as it regards the War in Afghanistan. He argues that two injustices have been committed in Afghanistan by the U.S.-led coalition, one concerning motivations for the invasion, and the other, disregard for the life of Afghan civilians; an act which he states to have observed firsthand.

Criticizing the motivations for the invasion of Afghanistan, bin Laden states that it was he who was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, and the Afghans, including the Taliban government, did not have prior knowledge. He then observes those European countries that allied with the United States in its invasion of Afghanistan as having no alternative but to be “vassals”, and are also guilty of excusing American soldiers from being tried in front of European courts for their actions. The tide of America, bin Laden claims, is “ebbing”, and to the European peoples, he states: “restrain you politicians who are thronging the steps of the White House and work diligently to remove oppression from the oppressed.”

The video and transcript are provided to our Monitoring Service subscribers.

Other, alleged, recent releases from As-Sahab, "the multimedia army of Al-Qaeda", who, these days seem to prefer less of the multi and more of the audio . . .

October 22, 2007 - "Letter to the People of Iraq."

September 20, 2007 - Come to Jihad: A Speech to the People of Pakistan

September 7, 2007 - Blackbeard the Optimist delivers his "Message to the American People" urging them to embrace Islam.

A veritable world tour of shuttle diplomacy . . .

Oh, one more thing. I am very sorry that you lost to Croatia, but you need a better manager. I also have all your Child Benefit discs hidden in my cave and it was me who set up that sleazy pig Abrahams. Ha ha ha ! Sleep well, night-night and remember: don't have nightmares, unless I am in them !

That's a wrap then.
