Teens arrested after brawl death

Fourteen people have been arrested in connection with a mass brawl in North London in which a teenager was killed.

The 16-year-old was attacked in Stoke Newington on Saturday night.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the young man was taken to the Royal London Hospital suffering from a stab wound, and was pronounced dead at 12.19am.

Another boy aged 15 was also seriously injured, and is described as being in a stable condition in hospital.

One girl and 13 boys, aged between 13 and 19, have been taken to north and east London police stations where they remain in custody.

Police believe they know the identity of the victim and next of kin are being informed.

A post-mortem examination will take place at Poplar Mortuary on Sunday.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Horne, who is leading the investigation, said: "A birthday party was being held in the community centre in Shacklewell Road, close to where the disturbance and fatal stabbing took place.

"I am appealing for anyone who attended the party or anyone who witnessed the disturbance in Farleigh Road to contact police.

Stoke Newington

Stoke Newington Police Station in Hackney, east London, was notorious in the 1980s and 1990s for police corruption and racism. The two tended to go together, with local black people who complained of police criminality being “fitted up”.

Stoke Newington Police Station was also notorious for a series of violent black deaths in custody. The Hackney Community Defence Campaign, uncovered 130 cases of police brutality.

Its investigations exposed “a web of organised corruption in the local drug squad, and led to the overturn of 13 miscarriages of justice. Their efforts exposed a force out of control, racist and in denial.”

That was the police station where arrested citizens mostly black fell up stairs and broke their necks or hanged themselves in cells when all the possible implements for hanging have been removed.

Now gangs roam the streets killing each other. One wonders who provides them with immunity for this? After all if the price of drugs falls year on year who allows this on an island?
