It has been revealed that the Intelligence and Security Committee report into the 7 July bombings asks why the lead bomber, who was known to police, was not investigated. It also criticises levels of intelligence on UK militants in Pakistan and recommends changes to the 'secretive and complicated' system of alert and threat levels. Commenting, Shadow Home Secretary, David Davis, said:
"This raises serious questions about the monitoring of terror suspects. The Government should now answer our call for an independent inquiry so that the lessons of the July bombings can be learnt.
"This report also reinforces our call for a clearly understandable and public system of alert and threat levels, like they have in America."

Yeah you can already see pressure for the limited hang out inquiry gathering
"What lessons can be learnt" on the basis presumably of acceptance of the official story and the guilt of the '4 bombers'. This is very much along the Milan Rai, Rachel North line: lessons learning about 'intelligence failures', the motivations of the '4 bombers' or the emergency response, etc but no more, move along, nothing to see.
As has already been said the terms of reference for any independent inquiry is the crux |
