Please forgive me, I need somewhere to vent my bitter frustrations.
I'm sat here in work surrounded by absolute zombies who do not understand my sadness caused by reading today's Metro newspaper, nor my general despondence these days due to the fact our country and planet is ruled over by unaccountable dictators.
The front page reads "£2 A Week Will Save The World". This is, of course, a story about how we're all being made to pay around £120 a year each - via our power companies (a shameless ploy in itself) - to stop global warming. Could there be a more ridiculous headline? It then goes on to say that 'developing' economies will not need to pay any of these neo feudalist taxes, since it's just about consolidating power and micro managing 'our' lives because us evil Westerners have caused the planet so much harm and we deserve to be punished. Actually, it didn't say that. It just said we're going to pay, there's nothing we can do about it and we can feel good about it all because we're saving the planet.
I then turn the page and see more on the fiscal armageddon and how the BoE is not cutting interest rates. Then I turn again to see more on global warming and how sea level rises are going to cause wars and famine and all that lovely stuff, then on the same page there's a story about how the government is thinking of paying you if you're fat and try to lose weight. Then a story about how our loving government doesn't want to release a draft of the Iraq WMD dossier, probably because it's 'secret' or contains 'sensitive information' or some other bs excuse. In other words, they're not going to take any blame at all for the genocide in Iraq and just want us to SHUT UP and stop asking them to be accountable.
Now, I know that most days when I open the paper I see such stories and am forced to bathe in the detritus of mainstream fear mongering faux news, but today I am particularly down about it all and it's not like me.
How the hell are we going to repair the monumental problems all around us? If we all write to our MPs will it do any good? How do we wake people up when most would rather stay utterly entranced in techno-decadence and bury their heads in the sand the moment they hear anything vaguely politicised?
I know we've made many gains this decade and people are slowly getting wiser to how utterly corrupt our leaders are - and their money changing financiers and their associated special interest groups - but I have to ask, are we fighting a losing battle?
I just can't help but be pessimistic today about our predicament. I sometimes think that my usual optimism is brought about by not realising the size of the task ahead, and that is particularly harrowing.
Let's use this thread as a place for discussion on the issues I have raised and let's brainstorm some ideas on how we can all do something to make a slight difference.

Why aye, man! Welcome to the world zoo, Chris.
Don't be despondent for that is exactly what our 'rulers' want! A compliant, confused and fearful populace (see Goering's comment at Nuremberg about this).
Take heart and act yourself to 'be the change you want to see in the world' as Gandhi put it.
Here is a positive place to start. It offers the little known fact that paying taxes that go towards supporting genocide and illegal wars of aggression has been a criminal offence since 2001:-
http://youtube.com/makewarshistory - if you pay particular attention to part 4 (Q&A) at 03:30 in you will find a simple and elegant means of opting out of support for this NWO madness.
Please act on it - I am sure it would make you feel at least a little bit better. _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl

Well said, Thermate911. I just had to get that off my chest and alleviate my frustration and I saw no better place to do it then here.
I totally agree with the Gandhi quote and it's one of my personal mantras.
I did know about the illegal taxes for genocide thing and I will endeavour to find out more.
If anyone wants to chime in with any comments on this week's news or has any other plans to opt out of paying taxes to fund our criminal government, please do so.
Feeling better already! _________________ The promise of freedom will only come about when the last man to walk this earth lives out his days in dreadful solitude. Only then will we see the end of war. |

Please do and spread the word far and wide - the way Chris Coverdale summed it up offers everyone the full might of the law to act for decency and conscience.
For those who don't have youtube access, to put it in a nutshell, if you pay taxes in the UK (and probably US) you are helping finance genocide and illegal wars of aggression. This is illegal under the International Criminal Court Act 2001.
Now the solution (04:24in the clip*):-
'Just organise with a local court to put your taxes into court custody and insist they decide whether it is a criminal offence or not.'
Hence 'simple and elegant'.
This is The Key, truly.

As for commenting on what MetroNews chooses for you to read - pass. To put it in Byker-style Geordie-speak - 'It's all sh*te, like...'
Your 'zombies' would be far more informed just reading here - there's some incredibly empowering articles splattered throughout this veritable library of world current events. Maybe do some printouts and paste them into their page 3's ? _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl

Just to clarify, although I personally enjoy the Geordie lilt and sense of humour, I am in fact a Mancunian lad born and bred. I just live and work up here now. And I must say, it's a nicer place to live than Greater Manchester!
Just got back from lunch and to avoid boredom I continued reading said paper. Page 19 featured yet another article on that Damian Thompson idiot who wrote that book about if you ever dare to think outside the proverbial box and question the consensus reality, you're a nutjob conspiracy theorist.
That reminds me, I've noticed lots of 'conspiracy' debunking stuff in the mainstream media recently and in most cases the term 'conspiracy theorist' is utterly misused. It's just another example of the destruction of language and how misguided public discourse and ridicule change the meaning of words. Didn't the term 'conspiracy theorist' become an epithet after JFK's assassination? Isn't that when the denomination started being applied as a jibe at those who go against establishment propaganda? _________________ The promise of freedom will only come about when the last man to walk this earth lives out his days in dreadful solitude.
