CALL TO ACT OVER MISSING SEX OFFENDERS

A children's campaigner is calling for an inquiry into how Avon and Somerset police "lost" eight sex offenders who were living in the community.
Anyone convicted of a sexual offence is added to the Sex Offenders' Register, which means they must notify their local police station within three days of moving home or changing their name by deed poll and reconfirm their registration annually.
As exclusively revealed by the Evening Post, five of the eight offenders are believed to have fled abroad.
Jane Channing, from Knowle, is the organiser of the Bristol-based White Ribbon Campaign for Justice for Children.
She said: "They must be totally incompetent to lose eight sex offenders.
"I think there should be a public inquiry into how this happened.
"I would like everyone who is concerned to email their MP and the Prime Minister to find out what is being done about it.
"What are the police going to do when they find the missing sex offenders? Are they going to tag them?
"These people are now free to harm others, probably children............
