The Economist website posted a list yesterday of the top 10 conspiracy theories believed in today, and of course, 9/11 Truth topped the list. Direct link to article:

AN OBVIOUS truth can be difficult to face. On Monday February 18th Mohamed al Fayed told a British inquest into the death of Diana, princess of Wales, and his son Dodi, that the pair were murdered in a conspiracy that included the British royal family, secret service and government. (In passing he called the Duke of Edinburgh a “Nazi” whose name “ends with 'Frankenstein'.”) In fact the court proceedings are showing that the pair were the victims of their drunken chauffeur. Yet public hunger for far-fetched theories of all sorts is insatiable. The most frequent internet postings concern an alleged American-government role in the terrorist attacks of 2001. America features strongly with cover-ups of alien life, Elvis’s faked death and the Apollo moon missions.

They've cheated somewhat by combining the Area 51 and the Aliens into one conspiracy.

LOL Tony... Well spotted, The Economist caught manipulating the figures once again, well no one believes in Area 51 anyone do they? Not in terms of Aliens etc. designing technology (ipods, cell phones and laptops etc) .

It's a perfect example of propaganda, the main stream media is psychologically preparing the public, and so informing them:

I thought that was quite well done as a hit piece!

But 9/11 isn't only in front; it's way out in front, considering that this issue has been around for less than seven years.

Oh, except for the Da Vinci Code, of course. But that is supposed to be fiction!

If they had listed another ten, they may perhaps have just included 'the economist' at 110 000 hits.

I don't know if any of you took a look at the (now blocked) comments section, which is quite encouraging regarding how many people are waking up to hard science facts.

The Economist Comments section is now blocked and ends with this:

It starts with a reference back to a guy saying the KE and PE to the Twin Towers was enormous.... (strange how al the apologists ignore WTC7 which collapsed without the same level of KE and PE!)

"With regards to the Potential Energy, remember it is the PE of building above the point of impact which you need to consider. The KE of the aircraft and stored energy of the fuel were used at the point of impact. There is an excellent structural analysis and animation on YouTube of that I recommend no matter what side of the argument you take. The fact of the matter is, that the twin towers survived the impact and explosion by the fuel. If the PE of the building was going to be a factor then surely it would have been at that point while the structure was actively vibrating when collapse would be initiated. The fact of the matter was that South Tower 50 minutes later and North Tower 100 minutes EXPLODED - not a natural deformation that you would expect from a fire based collapse (which in any case has never occurred in a skyscraper). 100s of firemen entered the building to put out the fires: they may have feared the fires but I am sure not one of them expected the building to explode around them. The tower collapses have not been adequately explained especially since molten steel, the extremely fine dust, free fall, sudden onset etc were not even investigated in the NIST report while controlled demolition explains all this phenomena. Once you add in the equally strange collapse of WTC7 - another skyscraper - also supposedly collapsing by fire yet looking like a classic CD then hold the bus!!! Some serious investigation is required. Have we had it? No. Where is the computer simulation showing how the towers collapsed, for example?

Now factor in all the other crazies of the day: pre-knowledge, share trading, disputed timings, no aircraft intercepts, $2.2 trillion loss at the DoD announced on Sept 10th, no crash investigations etc... And you can see something very fishy going on. And who benefits? Probably the Neo-cons who were wanting a "New Pearl Harbor" in the 2000 PNAC policy document... This is not in the same league as the other conspiracy stories because of its very impact on the world economy, our daily lives and our very notion of liberty/democracy. If Diana's death can be thoroughly investigated then shouldn't 9/11 also have the same treatment - isn't it more important?"

Spose that would have been a bit self grandising considering the Economist have attendees within their ranks.
