Well, it would, wouldn't it? This is a nice twist in the China-bashing episode we're currently experiencing. First blame the Chinese for being horrid to the Tibetans and when that starts sounding hollow accuse them of fabricating the entire thing themselves!
It's called covering your tail everywhichway.
BTW, if anyone should be boycotted at the Olympics it's the USA and Britain for their War Crimes and the millions of innocents they've killed.
