Liquid "bombers" in court

What I find interesting is that because its been a couple of years since their arrest and weve had all the increased security at airports since then I automatically think they must have smuggled the liquid on board but it was before the banning of liquids in hand luggage.

Following that link and reading that report it states "This concerns an allegation that in 2006 a number of men planned to create bombs which some of their number would take on board passenger aircraft flying from London Heathrow to various destinations in Canada and the USA," Calvert-Smith told the potential jurors.

Now please tell me if I'm wrong here, but I have always understood that the allegation was that they were smuggling liquids on board to mix the bombs, assumedly in the toilets. If I am correct, note the twisting of the story, as one must also assume that the prosecution has found the fatal flaw in their case - that these bombs cannot be made in less than 24 hours, a bit tricky on an eight hour flight to America!!

I've been looking forward to how the prosecution would explain this teeny problem in their case.

If they are now being accused of carrying dry explosive material on board, why then are we subjected to all this nonsense with taking liquids on board??

Oh no, the Daily Mail now says "The court heard the bombers intended to use hydrogen peroxide and mix it with a product called Tang, used in soft drinks, to turn it into an explosive"

I guess this would have meant they'd have 'tangoed'!!

Never heard of bombs being made with Peroxide and Tang[o], has anyone else?

I think this trial may well be a comedy, if it weren't so serious. No doubts the mainstream media won't tell us the comical bits.

Never heard of a bomb called "tangoed" but you can certainly blow up diet coke and mentos.

This is so laughable. And yet when it's played as the 'horrific' main story on the news all the sheep of this country will gladly take it in and it's another nail in the coffin.
