I'm in a difficult position.

I would very much like to implement these rules (on my own forum I do) but as the wider control of the forum is by no means clear I see them more as guidelines.

If there's a consensus to get them implemented now that's fine by me and we'll do it. Suspending and banning transgressors rather than sending them gentle warnings.

We seem to have been drawn away into irellevancies after Pikey's very positive proposal to do with maximising the productiveness of discussions here.

There is way too much 'poisoning' of various useful and productive wells of discusion by people who don't want that discussion to take place and that we have to gently squeeze out together.

There is alot of antagonism and flaming done on this site usually by the usual culprits. Its a minority problem though imo.

If any posts dont comply with this excellent forum policy thens its up to our pro active and assertive moderators to issue the non compliance notification and the appropriate card...........yellow, red or yellow followed by red.

The rules are there for a reason dudes. Mainly to make sure that our discussions here are accessible to as wide an audience as possible. They evolve with the times and I added a new one last week prohibiting discussion of the Holocaust because liberal approach here was being used as a stick to beat the whole 911 Truth movement with.

The rules mean keeping it to the practical and intellectual issues involved and as far as possible from the sort of rudeness and swearing. The same rules you'd have to adhere to in a public debating forum.

When people get abusive then they are effecively 'pissing in the pot from which we all have to drink'.

If anyone wants to offload anger, frustration or other baggage there are plenty of other places to do it and I hope we've created a culture here where when people do go over the top they will be told where to go and if they persist they will be banished.
