Once again we have 'secret ' phone-tap evidence being cited to prevent open disclosure. Everybody knows that the authorities can listen in to our phones, so what is so secret? I have tried to bring this up time and again, because it is important, important enough for the authorities not to want people to know about it: THEY CAN LISTEN IN TO MOBILES EVEN WHEN THEY ARE SWITCHED OFF (THEY CAN ACT AS A BUG AND TRANSMIT YOUR EVERYDAY CONVERSATIONS) or in the case of home phones, CAN ACT AS A BUG EVEN WHILE ON THE HOOK.
When enough people are aware of this, it will no longer be a bar to phonetap evidence being used in court, which will be a good thing, because at present the evidence is presented secretly, with the defendents and their lawyers unable to contradict it because they are not privy to it. _________________ 'And he (the devil) said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them'. If they could use it in court, then the defence could apply for full disclosure of the whole tapes(s) and this would reduce the scope for dreaming up stories to tell the media and then the judges in secret about, but we can't play or show you the evidence ...
So I agree with use of phone tap evidence in court, I think.
