Vitamin supplements useless and possibly dangerous?

This seems to be the latest wisdom, what always gets me are those 'gut flora' supplements they try to flog us, surely we have all the gut microbes we need?

Gut flora are most important to maintain balance and keep those dreaded candida transmutating fungi at bay.Antibiotics especially,steroids and the contraceptive pill, allow candida to multiply and transform into immune-system weakening entities.
Do colloidal silver as an alternative to antibiotics. IIt's absorbed way higher up the gut and doesn't effect the bowel flora. If you need a sweetener use xylitol which inhibits yeast growth and benefits the mouth bacterial balance
Forget the transient elements provided by Danone and go for acidophilus and bifidus supplements which provide resident bacteria
