Had a similar uneasy feeling about the strike myself although not quite sure for what reason. I'm with the truckers and rolling roadblocks rather than the pickets! _________________ JO911B.

It interesting that in Spain there is a similar situation which is now effecting many people. I have freinds in Southern Spain who have told me that the shops are very low of basic foods and fuel is hard to come by.

My view is that this along with the fuel strike in the UK, is a kind of exercise to gauge reaction to a more widespead and serious shortage of 'stuff' planned for the future. For the World Management Team, this information is important to allow any game plan to be cohesive and produce the desired effect.
Part of the email i recieved reads:
Just six days into Spanish lorry strike. Lorries blocking French Spanish and Spanish Portugese borders. Madrid and big cities at standstill. Chickens dying by their thousands locked in lorries going to factories. Milk being thrown away on the farms. Fruit and veg rotting in the fields.
Feels like really good training for times to come. No diesel anywhere since last wednesday, a few garages have petrol and we managed to get a can of biodiesel to keep Steve going.. Tried to get a little food in Coin today but both supermarkets have NO MEAT, NO FISH, NO MILK, NO VEGGIES OR FRUIT, NO EGGS and NO Bread. Not much at all left on the shelves. Village is the same. Got one of the last bottles of gas to cook on. (everyone uses bottled gas for cooking here).
We reckon we have enough food in the house for 3 weeks and after that will have to see what wild foods we can find on the mountainside or begin to think about if we can catch some birds or a rat. Spanish government is taking usual hard line against protestors and pickets and bringing out the police and army to keep so called 'essential supplies' moving. Interesting times,
Love to you all, All food parcels gratefully received, especially in a months time!. _________________ It's not about terror, its about illusion. It's not about war, it's about you

I was in a shop today which had a notice up saying there was a national shortage of milk.
We do take so much for granted in this country. I do wonder what it will take to make people start feeling a bit panicky. I know a growing number of people uneasy at the control that large food stores have. That said we throw away too much as well. _________________ JO911B.

When I first read about this shell fuel strike I had a certain amount of sympathy because initially I thought it was about the ludicrous cost of fuel..but no..they just want more money WTF? they could have done that at any time..why now. |
