HIGHLY recommended. Zero Degrees of Separation is a documentary film about gay and lesbian couples in Israel / Palestine, where one person in the couple is one nationality, and the other is, well, the other. Through this lens, the fractuous relationship between Israel and Palestine is well explored. Ezra, an older Israeli gentleman, is inbetween his fear over his boyfriend getting arrested or deported, seen confronting Israeli troops over their harassment of Palestinians. Edit and Samara face troubles over their views of the creation of the state of Israel, which is seen as a day of joy by Israelis and a day of sorrow by many Palestinians.
Inbetween our time with these two couples, there are several fact cards flashed on screen detailing the more unpleasant things Israel does to Palestine; one, for example, points out the sheer number of road blocks Israeli soldiers have established both on the border of and inside the West Bank, and how many seem to serve little purpose other than to interfere with the movement of Palestinians around their own land.
So, anyway, go watch it.
Also, check out Persepolis. Animated biographical movie about a girl who grows up before, during, and after the Iranian revolution. _________________ "What about a dance club that only let in deaf people?
