Israel practicing for new war?
Mon, 18 May 2009 18:35:24 GMT

Israeli air force F-16 fighter jet
Tel Aviv has embarked on another round of large-scale military exercise as speculations of an Israeli-initiated war run high.
Israel's Air Force has begun a large-scale military exercise as right-wing parties are insisting on more militaristic approaches.
Israeli Air Force's "aircraft activity will be noticeable during the course of the exercise as well as the presence of military vehicles across the country," a military spokesman was quoted by AFP as saying on Monday.
The four-day exercise will end on Thursday with military sources saying the move was aimed at testing the Air Force's abilities against rocket attacks and infiltration attempts..........

Are You Ready for War with a Demonized Iran?

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

How much attention do elections in Japan, India, Argentina, or any other country, get from the U.S. media? How many Americans and American journalists even know who is in political office in other countries besides England, France, and Germany? Who can name the political leaders of Switzerland, Holland, Brazil, Japan, or even China?

Yet, many know of Iran’s President Ahmadinejad. The reason is obvious. He is daily demonized in the U.S. media.

The U.S. media’s demonization of Ahmadinejad itself demonstrates American ignorance. The President of Iran is not the ruler. He is not the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He cannot set policies outside the boundaries set by Iran’s rulers, the ayatollahs who are not willing for the Iranian Revolution to be overturned by American money in some color-coded “revolution.”

Iranians have a bitter experience with the United States government. Their first democratic election, after emerging from occupied and colonized status in the 1950s, was overturned by the U.S. government. The U.S. government installed in place of the elected candidate a dictator who tortured and murdered dissidents who thought Iran should be an independent country and not ruled by an American puppet.

The U.S. “superpower” has never forgiven the Iranian Islamic ayatollahs for the Iranian Revolution in the late 1970s, which overthrew the U.S. puppet government and held hostage U.S. embassy personnel, regarded as “a den of spies,” while Iranian students pieced together shredded embassy documents that proved America’s complicity in the destruction of Iranian democracy.

The government-controlled U.S. corporate media, a Ministry of Propaganda, has responded to the re-election of Ahmadinejad with non-stop reports of violent Iranians protests to a stolen election. A stolen election is presented as a fact, even thought there is no evidence for it whatsoever. The U.S. media’s response to the documented stolen elections during the George W. Bush/Karl Rove era was to ignore the evidence of real stolen elections.

Leaders of the puppet states of Great Britain and Germany have fallen in line with the American psychological warfare operation. The discredited British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, expressed his “serioU.S. doubt” about Ahmadinejad’s victory to a meeting of European Union ministers in Luxembourg. Miliband, of course, has no source of independent information. He is simply following Washington’s instructions and relying on unsupported claims by the defeated candidate preferred by the U.S. Government................

From a USuk standpoint, there is very little difference between Mousavi & Ahmedinejad. How very short memories can be. Mousavi was involved in brutal protest shutdowns some years back. He is backed by the demonstrably corrupt (aka accessible to USuk pressure) Rasfanjani.

Israel is once again pumping up the hype, largely through Twitter,or so this article claims...

Iran, Again: Begging for a Smell Test

…and it ain’t passing

Okay, I’ve been trying very hard to ignore the latest on Iran: Roxana’s highly publicized and dubious adventure (begging for a smell test), the pre-elections predictions making their way even onto the Sunday Talk Shows (A great Smell Test Indicator), and of course now, the intense and loud coverage of the post elections drama (The Smelliest of Alll)…

Why would I try to ignore this? Not because I am not interested in Iran, Iran Politics, or Iranians. Hey, I lived there for eight years. I speak Farsi as my second language. I had my primary education there. My Father is half Iranian, and through him, his family and friends, and his activities, I grew up with ‘lots of Iran politics’, not only in talk but in actual life. I witnessed the revolution unfold in 1978-79. In fact, along with my father, I participated in some demonstrations as an eight year old kid whose father was interrogated and tortured by the ruthless monarch, Shah. Contrary to what the US government has led citizens here to wrongly believe, the regime change in Iran did not occur through only Islamists. In the beginning, the liberals, the social democrats, the communists, socialists…many factions came together, united to get rid of the US-UK planted monarchy.

The country had its chance at having a democratic form of government, via Mossadegh. But hey, back then, the United States, driven by its Cold War, didn’t want democracies in that region. Are you kidding me??! Our business back then was ‘toppling democracies’; and replacing them with puppet monarchists, dictators, and the like. Back then we loved Islamic Fanaticism. It worked magically against the commie Soviets; Right?! So yes, due to my background, experience, education, family, friends, and past activities, Iran is not a subject I would ever ignore. ... ... ...

http://www.infowars.com/iran-faces-greater-risks-than-it-knows/

Quote:
Iran Faces Greater Risks Than It Knows

Paul Craig Roberts, Infowars, June 18, 2009

Stephen Kinzer’s book, All the Shah’s Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror, tells the story of the overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected leader, Mohammed Mosaddeq, by the CIA and the British MI6 in 1953. The CIA bribed Iranian government officials, businessmen, and reporters, and paid Iranians to demonstrate in the streets.

The 1953 street demonstrations, together with the cold war claim that the US had to grab Iran before the Soviets did, served as the US government’s justification for overthrowing Iranian democracy. What the Iranian people wanted was not important.

Today the street demonstrations in Tehran show signs of orchestration. The protesters, primarily young people, especially young women opposed to the dress codes, carry signs written in English: “Where is My Vote?” The signs are intended for the western media, not for the Iranian government.

More evidence of orchestration is provided by the protesters’ chant, “death to the dictator, death to Ahmadinejad.” Every Iranian knows that the president of Iran is a public figure with limited powers. His main role is to take the heat from the governing grand Ayatollah. No Iranian, and no informed westerner, could possibly believe that Ahmadinejad is a dictator. Even Ahmadinejad’s superior, Khamenei, is not a dictator as he is appointed by a government body that can remove him.

The demonstrations, like those in 1953, are intended to discredit the Iranian government and to establish for Western opinion that the government is a repressive regime that does not have the support of the Iranian people. This manipulation of opinion sets up Iran as another Iraq ruled by a dictator who must be overthrown by sanctions or an invasion.

On American TV, the protesters who are interviewed speak perfect English. They are either westernized secular Iranians who were allied with the Shah and fled to the West during the 1978 Iranian revolution or they are the young westernized residents of Tehran.

Many of the demonstrators may be sincere in their protest, hoping to free themselves from Islamic moral codes. But if reports of the US government’s plans to destabilize Iran are correct, paid troublemakers are in their ranks.

Some observers, such as George Friedman believe that the American destabilization plan will fail.

However, many ayatollahs feel animosity toward Ahmadinejad, who assaults the ayatollahs for corruption. Many in the Iranian countryside believe that the ayatollahs have too much wealth and power. Amadinejad’s attack on corruption resonates with the Iranian countryside but not with the ayatollahs.

Amadinejad’s campaign against corruption has brought Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri out against him. Montazeri is a rival to ruling Ayatollah Khamenei. Montazeri sees in the street protests an opportunity to challenge Khamenei for the leadership role.

So, once again, as so many times in history, the ambitions of one person might seal the fate of the Iranian state.

Khamenei knows that the elected president is an underling. If he has to sacrifice Ahmadinejad’s election in order to fend off Montazeri, he might recount the vote and elect Mousavi, thinking that will bring an end to the controversy.

Khamenei, solving his personal problem, would play into the hands of the American-Israeli assault on his country.

On the surface, the departure of Ahmadeinjad would cost Israel and the US the loss of their useful “anti-semitic” boggy-man. But in fact it would play into the American-Israeli propaganda. The story would be that the remote, isolated, Iranian ruling Ayatollah was forced by the Iranian people to admit the falsity of the rigged election, calling into question rule by Ayatollahs who do not stand for election.

Mousavi and Ayatollah Montazeri are putting their besieged country at risk. Possibly they believe that ridding Iran of Ahmadeinjad’s extreme image would gain Iran breathing room. If Mousavi and Montazeri succeed in their ambitions, one likely result would be a loss in Iran’s independence. The new rulers would have to continually defend Iran’s new moderate and reformist image by giving in to American demands. If the government admits to a rigged election, the legitimacy of the Iranian Revolution would be called into question, setting up Iran for more US interference in its internal affairs.

For the American neoconservatives, democratic countries are those countries that submit to America’s will, regardless of their form of government. “Democracy” is achieved by America ruling through puppet officials.

The American public might never know whether the Iranian election was legitimate or stolen. The US media serves as a propaganda device, not as a purveyor of truth. Election fraud is certainly a possibility–it happens even in America–and signs of fraud have appeared. Large numbers of votes were swiftly counted, which raises the question whether votes were counted or merely a result was announced.

The US media’s response to the election was equally rapid. Having invested heavily in demonizing Ahmadinejad, the media is unwilling to accept election results that vindicate Ahmadinejad and declared fraud in advance of evidence, despite the pre-election poll results published in the June 15 Washington Post, which found Ahmadinejad to be the projected winner.

There are many American interest groups that have a vested interest in the charge that the election was rigged. What is important to many Americans is not whether the election was fair, but whether the winner’s rhetoric is allied with their goals.

For example, those numerous Americans who believe that both presidential and congressional elections were stolen during the Karl Rove Republican years are tempted to use the Iranian election protests to shame Americans for accepting the stolen Bush elections.

Feminists take the side of the “reformer” Mousavi.

Neoconservatives damn the election for suppressing the “peace candidate” who might acquiescent to Israel’s demands to halt the development of Iranian nuclear energy.

Ideological and emotional agendas result in people distancing themselves from factual and analytical information, preferring instead information that fits with their material interests and emotional disposition. The primacy of emotion over fact bids ill for the future. The extraordinary attention given to the Iranian election suggests that many American interests and emotions have a stake in the outcome.

Son of shah says protesters defeat could lead to nuclear war
Published: Monday June 22, 2009

The exiled son of the late shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, warned Monday of dire consequences for the volatile Middle East and the rest of the world if the popular uprising in Iran is crushed.

The defeat of the movement protesting the outcome of presidential elections 10 days ago would not only threaten global stability but could lead to nuclear war, Pahlavi told a news conference here.

"Their defeat will encourage extremism from the shores of the Levant to the energy jugular of the world," said Pahlavi, who left Iran a year before the ouster of his father, shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in the 1979 Islamic revolution.

"At worst, fanatical tyrants who know that the future is against them may end their present course on their terms: a nuclear holocaust," Pahlavi told a room packed with reporters at the National Press Club in Washington.

Pahlavi urged Western media to continue to act as "the information artery connecting different parts of the freedom movement in Iran" by globally spreading the messages coming from the protesters inside the country.

The Iranian government has severely clamped down on foreign media coverage of the protests in Iran, which Pahlavi said were happening around the country and involve all walks of life from factory workers to academics.

Skirting the news blackout, Iranians have been sending messages and videos to news outlets or acquaintances outside the country using social networking sites, online video and photo outlets and micro-blogging source, Twitter.

(psychobabble bolded)

I never thought Twitter was a 'good idea' - so easy to use as a meme-control mechanism.

Iran will hit Israeli nuclear sites if attacked
Pakistan Daily - 26th July 2009

A senor Iranian military commander has warned that no missile shield can help Israel dodge Iran’s barrage of missiles in case of any military attack from Tel Aviv.

“Iranian missiles have the capacity to target Israeli soil if the Zionist regime commits such stupidity including its nuclear sites,” the Islamic Revolution’s Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander General Mohammad Ali Jafari said.

“We are not responsible for the likely stupidity of the Zionist enemy,” he added.

Jafari’s remarks come while Israel has repeatedly threatened to put an end to Iran’s nuclear program, which it describes as a ‘threat’ to its existence, by resorting to military action.

Israel’s staunch ally, which has plans to diplomatically engage Iran over the issue, has, up to now, refused to give Israel the green light for a military attack on Iran.

The US and Israel, the possessor of the sole nuclear arsenal in the Middle East, accuse Iran of secretly seeking nuclear weapons, with which to attack Israel. Tehran has asserted that its uranium enrichment is intended solely for the generation of electricity, and has opened its nuclear facilities to inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Jafari went on to say that all Israeli cities are within the range of Iranian ballistic missiles.

“Maybe Israel and other enemies could counter the Iranian missiles on a limited scale with the use of missile shields but, when we fire a large number of rockets toward them they will not have any response,” he said in a reference to the recent comments of the US Secretary of State....

Picked up a sheet of paper this afternoon as it was blowing down Whitehall.

The Discarded Bit Of Paper wrote:
It can now be reported that current Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu aka BibiFRAUD was physically removed from the office of former Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin during a recent visit by Netanyahu to Moscow, Russia.
Putin refused to sign off on an Israeli air strike against Iran and Putin refused to take a bribe in gold and Euro currency that was offered to Putin by Netanyahu in return for the Russian Federation's acquiescence to an Israeli air strike on Iran.
Note: The gold and Euro currency offered to Putin by Netanyahu are actually proceeds from none other than the Bernard Madoff Ponzi Scheme, which had been under the control of Netanyahu along with the former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Stephen Friedman....
....While in Russia, Netanyahu threatened to bring the whole world down and told Putin to watch his back and that it wouldn't be hard to create a mushroom cloud over Moscow, at which point Putin told Netanyahu that he could turn the state of Israel into an ashtray within 24 hours, and then Putin, himself, physically removed Netanyahu from his office.
Item: Netanyahu had recently traveled to Russia on a secret flight from Tel Aviv to a base in the old Soviet province of Georgia and then on to the Russian capital.

Latest Holocaust speech by president of Iran denounced
Updated at 11:54am on 19 September 2009

The United States, Germany and Britain have condemned the latest speech by President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad of Iran who says the Nazi Holocaust was a lie and a myth.

At a rally in Teheran, Mr Ahmadinejad said the Holocaust was a "a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim".

The BBC reports the speech was a repeat of previous assertions.

Germany said the president's comments were a "disgrace to his country."

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs cited an assertion by President Barack Obama in a speech to the Muslim world that "denying the Holocaust is baseless, ignorant and hateful".

He said the remarks would "isolate Iran further".

A foreign ministry spokesman in France called the remarks "unacceptable and shocking."

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said the denial was "abhorrent as well as ignorant".

Israel planning New Year attack on Iran?
Submitted by Bill Weinberg on Sat, 10/17/2009 - 22:00.

Israel is planning military attacks on Iran after December, the French magazine Le Canard Enchainé asserted Oct. 13. According to the report, quoted by Israel Radio, Jerusalem has already ordered from a French food manufacturer combat rations for soldiers serving in elite units, and asked reservists of these units staying abroad to return to Israel. The report also states that in a recent visit to France, IDF Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi told his French counterpart Jean-Louis Georgelin that Israel is not planning to bomb Iran, but may send elite units to conduct ground operations there. The magazine suggests these may involve sabotage of nuclear facilities and assassinations of Iran's top nuclear scientists. (ANI, Oct. 15)

According to Wikipedia, Le Canard Enchainé is a "satirical newspaper" that also "features investigative journalism and leaks from sources inside the French government."

The supposed leak comes simultaneous with news that the US military is speeding up delivery of a colossal "bunker-buster" bomb dubbed the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP)—to be the largest non-nuclear bomb in the Pentagon arsenal, carrying 5,300 pounds of explosives. The Pentagon has awarded a $52 million contract to speed placement of the MOP aboard the B-2 Stealth bomber, and officials say it could be fielded as soon as next summer. It is to be 10 times more powerful than the weapon it is designed to replace, the BLU-109. Media speculation suggests it is intended for the newly revealed nuclear site the Iranian regime has built deep inside a mountain near the holy city of Qom. Officials deny there is a specific target in mind. "I don't think anybody can divine potential targets," said Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell. "This is just a capability that we think is necessary given the world we live in." (Daily Mail, Oct. 13)

We will point out that predictions of an imminent US or Israeli attack on Iran have been made many times before by Scott Ritter, Webster Tarpley and Benny Morris. They've all been wrong, and none of them has ever publicly eaten crow that we're aware of. On the other side of the coin, Bernard Lewis predicted an imminent Iranian attack on Israel three years ago. We haven't heard that he's eaten crow either. Why is the crystal ball set still treated with such reverence on the left and right alike?

US, Israel putting 'final touches' on anti-Iran plan
Mon, 16 Nov 2009 19:15:41 GMT

A team of CIA and US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) officials are meeting with the Israeli military and intelligence officials to discuss the "final touches" of a plan, which would involve both "diplomatic pressures" and "military options" against Iran.

The intelligence team arrived in Tel Aviv shortly after a meeting between the intelligence chiefs of the US, Israel, Egypt and Jordan in Amman, according to a report that appeared on the Israeli website DEBKA on Monday.

The meeting comes less than a week after the US and Israel held their largest-ever military exercise, code-named Juniper cobra 10.

According to DEBKA, which has close links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, the meeting put the "final touches" to the administration of the US President Barack Obama's strategy of "applying military heat to Iran as well as diplomatic pressure" to bring Tehran's nuclear program to a halt.

The two sides agreed to increase "direct interchanges" between the White House and the Israeli premier's office, and between high-ranking US and Israeli defense and intelligence officials, DEBKA said.

Reports of the US-Israel intelligence conferences come as Israel has stepped up its war rhetoric against Iran. Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said on November 7 that Tel Aviv's persistent threats to attack Iran were not just a bluff.

Israel and its staunchest ally, the US, continue to insist that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program, while failing to provide any evidence to prove their claim.

The Monday report was posted on DEBKA hours before the UN nuclear watchdog issued its latest report on Iran's nuclear program.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed in the report that Iran's nascent nuclear plant in Fordo corresponds to the design information provided by the country's nuclear officials and that Tehran had provided access to all areas of the facility to the IAEA inspectors during their October visit.

The IAEA report confirmed that no centrifuges had been introduced into the facility but added that the UN nuclear watchdog still had "questions about the purpose for which the facility had been intended and how it fit into Iran's nuclear program."

With the December 14th issue of ‘The Times’, the British media’s four-year-long propaganda campaign against Iran enters its final stage.

In fact, the tone and scope of this latest coverage is almost identical to those we were bombarded with in the months preceding the invasion of Iraq.

Its funny really, the media presents this anonymous unverified document as definitive proof of Iran's evil intentions, the Times devoted 6 pages to this including the front page and the leader..... Anyone with a PC and a printer could have knocked up this 'proof' in an hour or two.

Yet, when actual proof of scientific findings being fudged to support Climate Change was revealed, the self-same newspaper pretty much ignored this, despite the fact the originators of that fraud verified those incriminating documents.....

One might almost think the media had an agenda, or that we were being lied to.......

America's smoking gun is still intact.
It has nuclear bombs.

How will they run another few wars when they run out of paper to print money is the question for next year?

Hopefully someone will donate enough paper so they continue the printing.

The Zionists are obsessed with keeping their war crimes off the world media stage so the IDF will be advising that if the politicians want to go, and we have adequate proof that they do, it will be during the holiday period when most media staff are on holiday.
Thuis minimsing the press coverage and consequent damage to their racist and murderous (in my eyes) Zion brand.
Stand by for more war crimes this Christmas/New Year

Iran troops 'seize Iraq oil well'

Iranian troops have entered southern Iraqi territory and taken control of an oil well, reports say.

An Iraqi official played down the incident, saying the area was abandoned and right on a disputed border section.

Iranian soldiers crossed the border and raised an Iranian flag over the Fakkah oil field, a US military spokesman told the AFP news agency.

But an Iranian oil company spokesman denied the accusation, saying no troops had taken control of any oil well.

"The company denies Iranian soldiers taking control of any oil well inside Iraqi territory," the National Iranian Oil Company spokesman was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

Confirmation

Iraq's Deputy Interior Minister confirmed the Iranians stayed in Iraq and were in control of the well.

Earlier it was reported that they had withdrawn back across the border.

Deputy Interior Minister Ahmed Ali al-Khafaji initially told the Reuters news agency the reports of the Iranian incursion were not true.

But Mr Khafaji later confirmed the incursion had taken place, and said 11 Iranians had dug-in at the oil well and had not left.

"At 3:30 this afternoon, 11 Iranian soldiers infiltrated the Iran-Iraq border and took control of the oil well. They raised the Iranian flag, and they are still there until this moment," he told the Reuters news agency.

He said there had been no military response from Iraqi forces..

"We are awaiting orders from our leader," he said.

The incursion is one of several that have occurred in the last few days, he said.

The well is about 500m from an Iranian border fort and about 1km from an Iraqi fort, US Colonel Peter Newell told AFP.

excerpts from: US condemns Iran's 'provocative actions' as regime test-fires missile that could hit Europe (*)

by Ewen MacAskill and Ian Black, Guardian, 17 December 2009

Quote:
The US and its allies yesterday branded as provocative Iran's test-firing of an upgraded version of its most advanced [ballistic] missile, one claimed to be capable of hitting parts of Europe.

The Iranian defence minister, General Ahmad Vahidi, said the Sajjil-2 missile […] would act as "a strong deterrent" against possible foreign attack. Israel has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iranian nuclear plants to prevent it acquiring a nuclear weapons capability.

The launch […] follows a spate of reports, by the Guardian and the Times, suggesting that clandestine military aspects of Iran's nuclear programme may be more advanced than was previously realised.

The missile launched yesterday, thought to be more accurate than its predecessor, the Shahab, offers Iran the prospect of creating mayhem not only by retaliating against the west's oil lifeline in the gulf but also against Israel and targets in Europe.

Iran is working on a longer-range version of the Shahab-3 [ballistic] missile it flight-tested last week and it could be deployed in two to five years, […] Martin Indyk, assistant [US] secretary of state for Near East affairs, told reporters […]

some good news on this for a change

Iran comes out on top in secret simulated war games
Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Obama
In the simulation the Israel Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, was left in the lurch by an Obama Administration dedicated to diplomacy
James Hider in Jerusalem

Iran has emerged as the victor in secret war games that simulated an Israeli attack on one of its nuclear facilities.
According to the scenario, the Obama Administration decided to pursue a diplomatic approach to Tehran, leaving America’s closest military ally in the region in the lurch.
The exercise, staged by Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Security Studies last month, showed that even an Israeli commando raid on Iran’s heavy water plant at Arak would not draw the US into a military conflict with Iran.
“Our leverage over the Americans, when we could prise them away from the Iranians and Europeans and others, was limited,” said Giora Eiland, a former Israeli national security adviser who played the role of the Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, in the simulated conflict.

Its looking more and more like Irans fate is sealed to me Sad

The Placeman Cometh: New IAEA Chief Stokes Iran War Fever for the Bush-Obama Regime
Written by Chris Floyd
Friday, 19 February 2010 00:25
In an astounding development, the brand-new director of the International Atomic Energy Agency -- who was narrowly elected to the post a few months ago with the strong, one might say insistent, backing of the United States -- has just issued his very first report on Iran's nuclear program. And guess what the new, American-backed director said? Go on, you'll never guess.

Give up? Well, hold on to your hats -- the American-backed director, Yukiya Amano, has "broken with the more cautious style of his predecessor, Mohamed ElBaradei" -- you know, the man who was right about Iraq's lack of a nuclear weapons program -- to suggest (sans proof, of course) that there might be "possible military dimensions" to Iran's nuclear program, which just happens to be the most internationally inspected and regulated nuclear power program in history.

That's right; coming just days after Hillary Clinton's fresh bout of fear-mongering about Iran, the American-backed Amano echoed the talking points of the Bush-Obama Administration. (Should we not finally just give the proper name to the "continuity" of our militarist-corporatist rulership?) The Bush-Obama regime has continually proclaimed its unshakable belief that Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons. So unshakable is this belief that nothing on earth can alter it -- not Iran's willingness to send its uranium to other countries for enrichment, and not the acknowledgment by the White House itself that Iran lacks the technical capability of enriching uranium even to a level far below that needed for weaponization.

But yes, it is true that any nuclear program might have "possible military dimensions" somewhere down the line. That indeed is not outside the realm of possibility. Which means, of course, that the United States and its allies and clients are fully justified in taking any action against Iran they please. Because the Bush-Obama Administration -- indeed, the entire American political and media elite -- now operate entirely on Dick Cheney's "One Percent Doctrine," which was delineated by journalist Ron Suskind. As we noted here awhile back:

As Suskind notes, it was Cheney who enunciated the certifiably paranoid principle that governs the regime's behavior: If there is even a one-percent chance that some state or group might do serious harm to the United States, then America must respond as if that threat were a certainty — with full force, pre-emptively, disregarding any law or institution that might hinder what Bush likes to call the "path of action." Facts and truth are unimportant; the only thing that matters is the projection of unchallengeable power: "It's not about our analysis, or finding a preponderance of evidence," said Cheney. "It's about our response."

And make no mistake. Despite the frequent Kabuki-like displays of conflict between the current managers of the Bush-Obama regime and Dick Cheney, they remain united on the essential principles of the modern American state: projecting dominance and protecting the rich. Indeed, one reason why American politics today seems so bitter and vitriolic and personal is because there are no real policy disagreements anymore -- and hence, no real politics. There are only two corrupt factions of imperial courtiers squabbling over the perks and spoils of office. They follow the same policies, feed at the same trough; there is nothing of substance left for them to fight about. And so they spend their time in ever-more frenzied bouts of blaming each other for the disastrous results of the foul and evil principles they both embrace so avidly.

Clinton's blackly comic blather -- denouncing Iran's lack of democracy while praising Saudi Arabia and Egypt -- has been regarded in some quarters as a "shift" in U.S. policy, a move away from the "engagement" with Iran that Barack Obama has supposedly been undertaking. But as Stephen Kinzer notes, this "engagement" has been a transparent and sinister falsehood from the word go:

Hillary Clinton's sudden volley of shots at Iran marks the end of an engagement policy that never really began. She wants to convince the world that the regime in Tehran is opposed to serious talks with the west. That may be true, but we'll probably never know because in fact, no one has offered such talks. ...

Whether the increasingly splintered regime in Iran would or could respond to a serious offer of negotiations is highly uncertain. What is clear, though, is that the regime has not been offered this option. The Obama administration, like its predecessor, has made clear that it is interested in negotiating only one thing: curbs on Iran's nuclear programme. No country, however, would agree to negotiate only on the question that an adversary singles out, without the chance to bring up others that it considers equally urgent. ...

A more promising approach would be to tell Iran what President Nixon told China 35 years ago: if you agree to consider all of our complaints, we will consider all of yours. Clinton has made clear that the US will make no such offer. Instead it clings to the decades-old American policy toward Iran: make demands of the regime, threaten it, pressure it, sanction it, seek to isolate it, and hope for some vaguely defined positive result.

And in a powerful article at Antiwar.com, Peter Casey details both Barack Obama's long-standing bellicosity toward Iran -- and what's more, his administration's move beyond Cheney's One-Percent Doctrine, which, as Casey notes, did require at least the barest modicum of evidence, manufactured or otherwise:

Since the turn of the year, the U.S. has been deploying the heavy machinery needed to put war plans against Iran into action. In January, the Obama administration forced several Gulf countries to agree to install American ballistic-missile defense emplacements on their soil. At the same time, the Pentagon announced a new "first line" of defense in the Persian Gulf, reinforcing the U.S. Navy’s already considerable armada in the region with Aegis cruisers equipped with advanced radar and anti-missile systems. Moreover, under Obama, the plans for missile-shield systems Bush crammed down on Poland and the Czech Republic, which triggered furious protests from Russia, have been modified to concentrate on potential medium and short-range missile attacks from Iran. More recently, the Romanian government reportedly has agreed to accept U.S. anti-missile batteries on its territory to thwart theoretical Iranian rockets. ...

A lot of this recent effort looks and sounds similar to the run-up to Bush-Cheney’s Iraq invasion. There is, however, a profound difference in the current administration’s targeting of Iran. It is essentially following Cheney’s model for preventive war – with one exception: It has dispensed with relying on any tangible facts to "make the case" for war. Instead, it has made the Iranian leadership’s intent the decisive factor.

Bush-Cheney lowered the bar for starting war by adopting the doctrine that in a "post-9/11 world," preventive war is not only permissible but morally imperative. Cheney’s innovation lay in arguing that "failure to act" was inherently the greater risk, even if the likelihood of terrorist or other attack was trifling. ... Cheney’s "1 percent solution," however, had an Achilles heel. It required the putative existence of actual, physical fact. The possibility that WMDs may exist may be small – but it still must exist. But the drawback to any plan based on assertion of fact is the possibility of refutation – maybe not in time to prevent a horror show, but sooner or later. In other words, under the Cheney Doctrine, the casus is subject to falsification, even long after the belli has broken out. Which is, of course, exactly what happened in Iraq.

The Cheney Doctrine’s very low bar for war was bad enough. Obama and his own neoconnish coterie of advisers, however, are tossing away the bar altogether. ... Obama’s advisers also learned from Cheney’s mistakes. Picking up on Iran where Bush-Cheney left off, the Obama hawks are not about to try to justify war based on testable factual claims – or any fact-based claims whatsoever. If the Obama/Netanyahu war factions get their war, they will do so based on the article of faith that "we cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon." To ensure that objective, they have concluded, Iran cannot be permitted to achieve the technological and manufacturing capability to build a bomb. Thus, a plan for war is being built on inherently unverifiable beliefs about what the leadership – more likely, some later leadership – of Iran might decide to do in the future with knowledge, skills, equipment, and infrastructure it has yet to acquire. Under the Cheney Doctrine, the U.S. needed to strike if there was a 1 percent risk that Iraq actually had WMDs. In contrast, the Obama-Netanyahu Doctrine permits military aggression if there is any chance that Iran someday may have the ability to create a nuclear weapon and might then decide to actually make one.

... Obama himself best illustrated this sort of reasoning at a news conference Feb. 9, discussing Iran’s alleged "rejection" of an offer by the U.S. and its Western allies to convert some low-enriched uranium in Iran’s possession into medical isotopes, requiring enrichment to a level just short of weapons-grade. He said: "That indicates to us that, despite their posturing that their nuclear power is only for civilian use, that they in fact continue to pursue a course that would lead to weaponization. And that is not acceptable to the international community, not just to the United States." But virtually any step by Iran to develop nuclear capabilities with is own science and resources could lead to "weaponization." Obama here simply imputes a malicious intent – building the "case for war" based on analysis no better than palm reading.

Now the Bush-Obama administration has inserted its own man at the top of IAEA -- and suddenly the Agency has reversed years of a cautious, evidence-based approach in favor of, yes, palm-reading about what Iran might eventually do someday under optimal conditions that do not exist today and will not exist for the foreseeable future, if ever.

As I wrote here in 2008, following yet another scaremongering "scandal" about Iran's enrichment activities:

There is literally nothing that Iran can do – or not do – to divert the American elite's desire to strike at their land and bring it under domination. And apparently there is nothing that anyone in America with any power or a major platform will do to stop it either.

As I have noted over and over, including here, just a few weeks ago: "No one has laid out the case against attacking Iran with more depth, power, eloquence and persistence than Arthur Silber. What's more, Silber has offered practical steps that even those obsessed with retaining their 'serious' and 'politically savvy" cred could employ.' (For just one example, see this piece, whose title says it all: "So Iran Gets Nukes. So What?"]

But, as noted above, no one has followed up on Silber's suggestions, or on anything remotely like them. And so the Kabuki dance of death in the imperial court goes on -- now aided, appropriately enough, by the Japanese placeman installed at the IAEA by the Bush-Obama Administration.

US warns Iran 'time and patience is running out'
Mike Rivero www.whatreallyhappened.com/taxonomy/term/83
We saw this exact same rhetoric in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. There is no doubt now that Israel and the US will start yet another war for your loved ones to die in.
But there is a difference this time.
This time you cannot hide behind the official lies regurgitated by ABC/NBC/BBC/CBS. This time you know ahead of time it is all another lie to start another unprovoked war. This time you cannot pretend you didn't know what the US Government and Israel are really doing.
The US has invaded five nations, and aims for a 6th. The body count is already in the millions. War crimes are being committed.
War with Iran will quite possibly mean war with Russia and China. They have played Neville Chamberlain to the US' Hitler and like that fool from another age realize appeasement will never work as long as Israel calls the shots and Americans pay the butchers' bills.
World War Three is already started.
And the US is going to lose.

The United States is placing its efforts to thwart the Iranian nuclear program on a "pressure track," head of U.S. Central Command general David Petraeus said in an interview to a U.S. network on Sunday.

Speaking to NBC's "Meet the Press," Petraeus said that he thought "that no one at the end of this time can say that the United States and the rest of the world have not given Iran every opportunity to resolve the issues diplomatically."

Maybe they'll re-run the WarGame with all the extra assembled fire power to see what happens?

PM Netanyahu's Office: Israel won't comply with UN decision on nukes
Head of National Information Directorate says UN call for nuclear-free Middle East that singled Israel out but ignored Iran is 'duplicitous, distorted'; claims it diminishes security in region

The Prime Minister's Office commented on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation conference's decision to note Israel as a country's whose facilities must be regulated as "fundamentally wrong and duplicitous."
Head of the National Information Directorate Nir Hefetz said Saturday that the decision disregarded the "reality in the Middle East and the genuine threats looming in the region and the entire world."
Hefetz stressed that Israel will not comply with the decision. "This decision is focusing on Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East and the only country facing existential threats," he said......

If you ever had merely a suspicion that the BBC puts out very biased reportage, here's confirmation (Goebbels would have been so proud of this piece, IMO; even the headline is twisted) :-

Iran narrowly wins UN nuclear battle

Quote:
By Paul Reynolds
World affairs correspondent, BBC News website
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may see the meeting as a diplomatic success

Israel was the big loser in the nuclear review conference in New York - and Iran the big winner.

The cause of nuclear non-proliferation was haltingly served in that the conference did reach a consensus, unlike the last time, and a number of watered-down measures were agreed to seek ways of strengthening the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). But overall, there was not the decisive strengthening that some states wanted.

Instead, governments rallied round one objective - the concept of a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East. This was first called for 15 years ago but until now neglected.

To its annoyance, Israel found that the US did not block a proposal to hold a one-off conference in 2012 on setting up such a zone. In addition Israel was named for not being a party to the treaty and for not having its nuclear activities under international inspection. Being named like this is always regarded as a diplomatic defeat.

It will produce further soul-searching about the relationship between Israel and the US administration of President Barack Obama, which has often been tense and which will now be more so. Israel has already denounced the agreement as "hypocrisy".

Mr Obama came out with a statement afterwards that spoke of the US being "strongly opposed" to efforts to "single out Israel" but he did not use the veto available to him.

Whether the conference will be held is debatable (conditions are already being attached) and whether it will do anything practical is doubtful. Israel opposes any nuclear-free zone until there is a comprehensive peace. So does the US.
Iran prepared

Arab countries, led skilfully by Egypt, managed to manoeuvre the US into agreeing. Washington did not want to be blamed for wrecking the conference. It would have undone much of the goodwill that Mr Obama has engendered over the past year through his efforts to reduce the American stockpile of nuclear weapons and to reconfigure US nuclear policy.
The UN's nuclear deliberations typically draw anti-nuclear protesters

On the other hand, Iran was not named, despite being in violation of instructions both from the IAEA, which administers the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, and the Security Council that it should suspend the enrichment of uranium. Instead there were a couple of references to countries not being in compliance and since Iran is the only such state, Iran is meant. But it is not named. Iran would have blocked the necessary consensus if it had been.

It was ready to stop a consensus. The US was not.

"It is good that there was an outcome," said Mark Fitzpatrick of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.

"It restores the consensus about the importance of the NPT, which had been unravelling. The NPT was in danger and some new health and vitality has been put back into it.

"However it doesn't move the ball forward or strengthen the NPT and is therefore a missed opportunity."

One example is that the US had pressed for countries leaving the NPT (as they can with three months' notice and as North Korea did) to face sanctions. This was not adopted, but at least it was stated that North Korea would not be recognised as a nuclear-weapons state, which will please South Korea.

Another is that there is not much immediate hope of getting the stronger inspections of nuclear plants that the US wanted. If no such action is forthcoming, the US attitude towards further disarmament could well be affected.

Nor, from the opposite side, was there agreement to set a deadline or even a target for nuclear-weapons states to negotiate their weapons away. Some non-aligned countries had wanted sometime after 2025 as the target. There is no date in the document. Instead there is language pressing for progress. Indeed, there has been some progress over the past year, with a new agreement between Russia and the United State as an example.

The next NPT review conference is in 2015.

IMO, the Beeb should stick to what it does best - non-controversial 'period pieces', beautifully acted, costumed & filmed. The above contorted, half-baked and mangled tripe does their credibility (what credibility?) no good whatsoever. Is Mossad losing its grip on the Big Lie? Looks like it, judging by this example.

Israeli Nuclear Missile Boats Off Iranian Coast

Quote:
'Israel is stationing three of its five Dolphin class submarines in the Red Sea, and will keep one of them operating off the Iranian coast at all times. These subs will be armed with cruise missiles (equipped with nuclear warheads). The Israelis have developed a cruise missile, which is has a range of 1,500 kilometers and carries a 200 kiloton nuclear warhead. The objective of deploying nukes on subs is to further enhance deterrence to any nation launching a nuclear strike against Israel. If one of the Dolphins are always at sea, even a first strike against Israel would not prevent a nuclear strike by submarine launched nukes.'
