Let's not forget the Sephardic Jew who started this off. It is His birthday after all. At least according to the OCT.
What would he have thought of the rampant materialism and office party hedonism that now prevails? Or the X that replaces His name so frequently? Or the fat guy who visits children in their beds whose name is so close to Satan?
Anyway, food for thought before tomorrow's over indulgence. Any veggies out there? Can you actually get quorn turkey?
Just to illustrate how I am not immune from the pervasive corruption of capitalism, I will be wrapping an xbox 360 from that Crypto Gates' company
Hey Y'all have a good time now. _________________ Belief is the Enemy of Truth www.dissential.com
Yes you can but I don't recommend it. Or any other Quorn products.
A friend sent me this which I think, as an "Atheist" (not my term!) makes for interesting reading.

Yesterday, December 21st, marked the Winter Solstice - the shortest day and longest night of the year for people living in the northern hemisphere. From now through summer we'll receive minutes more sunlight each day: life-giving energy for crops, animals and people. For our ancestors living beyond 10,000 years ago up until the present day, the celebrations of Winter Solstice have been all about "The (Re)birth of the Sun."
We have archeological proof that, among others, the northern Chinese, ancient Iranians, Neolithic Europeans, the ancient Egyptians, Abyssinians, Syrians, Jews, Greeks, and Romans, the Maya, Inca, Pueblo and Hopi Indians all celebrated the winter solstice, and the vast majority of our Christmas customs are derived from these pre-Christian civilizations.
Follow me if you'd like ...
jakbeau's diary :: ::
We burn a Yule log because the ancient Norse had a jul bonfire tradition of lighting the longest night so the sun could find its way. We hang wreaths because at one time they symbolized the wheel of the year. It's no accident that our Christmas trees are fir: in northern climes, the evergreen tree represented triumph over the 'death' of winter. Ornaments are stand-ins for the apples Northern European pagans tied to trees to remind themselves that the life giving Spring and Summer would return. The colors of red and green predate written history: at one time living sacrifices were made and red symbolizes the blood on the snow, while green is once again the color of immortality. Even Santa Claus is a reinvention of older deities who brought the gift of light back to us on December 22nd.
While in the U.S. the advent of Christianity has overlaid the solstice's ancient origins, we still associate the story of that birth with the bringing of (spiritual) light. And the truth is, along with most of the symbols we use this time of year that predate Christianity or have been incorporated within it, even the cross, which at one time symbolized the four elements of earth, fire, wind and water, with the fifth element, the human spirit, tied upon it, predates the idea of the Christ child. Thus the Christian story joins a thousand stories telling the same tale again and again. It's the return of light, still a meaningful metaphor for photosynthetic life as well as spiritual development.
For me, born in a northern clime and heir to this portion of humanity's memories, Christmas/Solstice has become a time for meditation on the human journey. I look back with a weird, familiar glance at the billions who preceded me and bequeathed rich, beautiful symbols to mark my own passing through succeeding winters. After a time of youthful rebellion against all tradition, I guess I just joined the human parade.
In that sense, I'm never lonely at Christmas, never sad, never remotely depressed. Instead, I'm surrounded by the welcome ghosts of Christmases/Solstices past, and the visions of future generations who will celebrate in their turn. We are all part of the passing parade, handing off what we've found worthwhile to the children who follow us.
May those children smell the fragrance of mint, see wreaths of holly, grasp hints of cinnamon, enjoy fantasies of candlelight, have visions of sugarplum fairies, receive gifts of love, and sing carols with loving families this year so they can pass down their memories to their children's children. I ask no greater Christmas gift (though Peace on Earth could trump that.)
Merry Christmas, Happy Solstice and many Festivals of Light to you and yours!
And a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Happy xmas one and all from an enlightened christian. of the "born again evangelical persuasion" Christ has nowt to do with 25 Dec. So just enjoy the heathen festivities without the hassle of bringing Christ into it. If I had my way i would ban xmas apart from mince pies and nativity plays and boil every one with their xmas pud and bury them with a sprig of holly through their heart.
Funny how most of our great traditions have exploited and are now OTT
xmas
halloween
bonfire night
new year
Good will toward all men would be nice but no doubt some poor sod will get kicked to death by drunken yobs or killed by drunk drivers
Anyway to one and all and in the words of scrooge "you keep christmas in your way and I will keep it in mine" _________________ JO911B.

I enjoyed a wonderful solstice ceremony yesterday before dawn, when it was -4, proper wintery weather, followed by a beautiful sunrise. tomorrow i will enjoy making the time to prepare and eat a special meal with my family. i will probably drink too much beer and eat too much food, but if the last 5 years have taught me anything, it's that you should enjoy what you have whilst you still have it. you never know what is around the corner. So merry christmas / solstice / saturnalia / yule everyone.

I love it, like Easter, catching up with the family is good fun. We laugh a lot and wind each other up discussing dreadful misdemeanors and misfortunes from years gone by that seemed so serious at the time.
None of us really like the queen's speech - my lot say she comes across as false except gran who thinks she's wonderful.
And I can't help thanking God that's nearly another year gone by without world war three breaking out and ample cause for celebration and inebriation.

The monarchy are loathesome creatures of their own making
The last thing we want are them on Christmas day, still yet less on their own Youtube channel
Avoid them at all costs

I had forgotten it is Christmas Day - as I don't celebrate or acknowledge the event.
My kids have never been exposed to Christmas, saves me oodles of money, no personal contribution to the mountains of cardboard packaging and wrapping paper, no creatures have been killed on my behalf, no escalation of electricity usage due to a house so brightly lit it can be seen from orbit, didn't buy or send any cards, no batteries bought, used and thrown away and no tree cut down, adorned with a naff Woolworths fairy that looks like Graham Norton, then chucked in the garden in a week's time.
I genuinely get far more of a kick opting out of this brainwashed madness than contributing to it. It is however my youngest's birthday, she's ten today. _________________ I completely challenge the official version of events - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC -I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC - I AM NOT A 9/11 TRUTH CRITIC
my TV is off, my radio is taboo because of all the nonsense xmas songs played over and over, I am chilling out to Crystal Magic CD bought a few years ago it is so relaxing.
I will play cds all day today and tomorrow, all good music from my own personal cd collection. Purrrrrrrrrrfect.
No xmas dinner and nonsense food that most will stuff their faces with either, just plain good vegan grub.

Well I missed Christmas, due to flu, but here are my xmas thoughts about an idea which struck me while listening to a recording of Haendel’s Messiah. The lyrics, compiled by Charles Jennens (1700 - 1773) and given to Haendel in 1741 read in part:
"Why do the nations, so furiously rage together, and why do the people imagine a vain thing; the kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed.
Let us break their bonds asunder and cast away their yokes from us."
To me that implies a connection between the people having false conceptions and the resultant wars arranged by the rulers’ plotting. Then the lyrics encourage the people to rise up against the oppression which leads them into warfare.
"Very pertinent to our position today!" I thought, but when I started to look into it more deeply I found the issue quite complicated. The notes with my boxed CD set of Messiah maintain that the words supplied here by Charles Jennens are the first three verses of Psalm 2. Making use of the internet I checked to see how various English translations of the Bible rendered those verses. To my surprise I discovered that the King James Version, the only one authorised to be used in church services in England at that time, gives a substantially different meaning to the lyrics supplied by Jennens.
King James Version 2:1
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2:2
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
2:3
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Here it is the heathen who rage and their rulers say they want to break them up and no longer be encumbered by them. And more modern translations differ even more widely from Jennens and Haendel’s version
New International Version
2:1
Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2:2
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
Here the people don’t imagine anything vain at all.
But I found this old translation, the Darby translation, whose meaning is closer to that of Haendel’s libretto.
Darby Translation 1 Why are the nations in tumultuous agitation, and [why] do the peoples meditate a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the princes plot together, against Jehovah and against his anointed: 3 Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us!
There are many many more Bible translations to be compared, but perhaps someone who reads ancient Hebrew, which I certainly can’t, could shed light on what the psalmist might have been getting at.
I think of what was going on in the world of politics at the time. The German Electors of Hanover had been given the throne of Britain and Ireland and George Haendel had gone with them as court musician. The Protestant British government lived in constant fear of the Catholic Stuart line of monarchs creating a rebellion and getting back into power. The Stuarts had a good, though unsuccessful, attempt at it in 1715 and again in 1745. The Treaty of Westphalia (1648) had ended the Thirty Years War and established the principle that whether Catholic or Protestant governments had no business encouraging their co-religionists to create rebellions in other countries. Despite that, governments all over western Europe remained jumpy that that might happen in their country. Four years after completion of Messiah The Young Pretender, the Catholic Charles Edward Louis Philip Casimir Stuart, known as Charles III or Bonnie Prince Charlie, landed in Scotland, raised an army, set up court in Edinburgh and then marched as far south as Derby. The War of the Austrian Succession, involving all European powers, raged from 1740-1748.
So were Jennens and Haendel putting a bit of contemporary political spin on to that psalm - the nations fight because they falsely imagine that being Catholic, or alternatively Protestant, is wicked and tantamount to being a subversive, a heretic, a terrorist? Do we not in more recent times fall into the same trap in our attitudes about people being Muslim or Jewish?
"And the moral of that is..." said the duchess...
Well the moral is whatever moral you find in it,
but from that exploration the morals for me are: put not your trust in princes, nor in psalms, nor priests, nor politicians nor scriptures of any kind. No person, no organisation and no book is infallible. Do you feel comfortable with that? If not, you might, like me, consider heeding the promptings of love and truth in your own heart, or call it your intuition or your conscience if you prefer, or call it Christ, or the inward light, or Allah who is closer even than our jugular vein or Atmen or Brahman or the Void. It's not IMHO the words that are important, but the concepts, the deeds and whether our hearts are set towards the light.
So belated greetings to all for Christmas, Hannuka, Eid, Winter Solstice and a happy, truthful and peaceful New Year.

Good post Noel....and interesting. I was about to agree with you.....but then I found myself forced to think again.
If the promptings in your heart are of love, then surely the 'light' that informs you is the same as that which informed Christ.
....but what if your promptings of truth are prompted by feeling rather than spirit? What if your heart is full of rage?
To refer your conscience to these personal promptings alone could surely for many individuals be quite dangerous.
The thing about Christ is that he demands of us perfect love and forgiveness.....and although this is a very tall order, surely His teachings (to love our enemies, to forgive seventy times seven, to recognise that the unreligious individual might be closer to God than you are {in fact he taught that children, who are without such concepts, are the greatest amongst us}, that we should never take an oath, that God is always waiting for us to change and turn to Him.... etc) are ultimately a better point of ultimate reference that our own 'promptings'.......though I know what you mean.....as we develope in truth these two reference points should hopefully become one.
I would agree with you, however, that literalism regarding the bible or any other scripture is very dangerous. The Christians we call 'fundamentalists' are not really fundamentalists at all....they are literalists.....
....which is a really dumb thing to be seeing as Jesus delivered so many of his teachings as parables or allegories. This was surely a very big hint from the Master Himself to judge moral issues by the spirit not by the word.
I consider myself someone who is trying to be a Christian fundamentalist

Here it comes again - no it's nothing to do with the birth of Jesus - it's all about paganism/Druidism/Blavatskyism and the winter solstice - still, a good excuse to meet up with the family and take a break from the NWO treadmill.
Check out this year's Charles and Camilla Christmas card.

This is a bit of a repetitive video Paul. It seems to take 10 minutes to make a simple one line point.
What is Rihannas song Umbrella about? Is it about a device that protects us from the rain? Is it about a young womans love for a man? Is it about a young womans vagina; her umbrella which opens when rain falls, when it is wet?

Whichever way we honestly look at it, Christmas is based on lies.
Last year two people very near to where I live committed suicide during the Christmas period. So much for the spirit of Christmas, which we are told is about caring for people. _________________ "Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish." - Euripides

This year my door will remain locked. Christmas is canceled just like last year. I will just play cds and dvds , anything to do with this awful season is TABOO.
I'm having a quiet close family do with little expenditure on the event
Those that dislike ths time may enjoy this song, warning though this is not for the followers/believes of I also don't mean it to spoil anyones festivities, but what ever you get upto injoy yourselves

Here are the famous Alternative Carols from Palestine: they caused much grief in the Zionist camp
O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM
O little town of Bethlehem ,
How still we see thee lie!
A wall is laid where tourists stayed,
And tanks go rolling by.
And in thy dark streets shineth
No cheerful Christmas light;
The grief and fears of four sad years
Are met in thee tonight.
How silently, how silently
The world regards it all,
As now thy heart is torn apart
By Israel's ghetto wall.
They terrorize a people -
A war crime and a sin;
Their winding "fence" can make no sense;
Revenge can still get in.
O promised child of Bethlehem,
Cast down the iron cage,
The walls of hate that separate
And harden and enrage;
Bring justice and make equal;
Come down from far above;
And come to birth upon this earth,
As hope and peace and love.
ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID'S CITY
Once in royal David's city
Stood some big Israeli tanks;
Mothers giving birth to babies
Met with checkpoints and roadbanks.
Holy land was all defiled
As a bullet killed a child.
Round the ancient tomb of Rachel
They have built a ghetto wall;
Rachel's weeping for her children,
And "her children" means us all.
But this city's strangulated,
Rachel's children segregated.
David's people once instructed
All the world in righteousness;
Once they spoke of truth and justice,
Now they ravage and oppress.
Nations, look at Bethlehem ,
And speak out the truth to them.

O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL
O come all ye faithful,
All who care for justice,
O look ye, O look ye at Bethlehem ;
Come and behold it
Under occupation.
O come, let's not ignore it,
O come, let's not ignore it,
O come, let's not ignore it,
Tell the world.
Sing, all ye people,
Sing in indignation,
Be with the citizens of Bethlehem ;
Sing out for justice,
Freedom from oppression.
O come, let's not ignore it,
O come, let's not ignore it,
O come, let's not ignore it,
Tell the world.
IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER
In the bleak midwinter,
Refugees made moan;
Sharon stood like iron,
Bush was like a stone.
Tanks were rolling, tank on tank,
Tank on tank,
Through the camps of Gaza
And the West Bank .
How can we stop him,
Ariel Sharon?
Silence of the nations
Lets him carry on.
Where is there a wise man
Who could do his part?
Tell the world to stop him
With its heart.
THE OLIVE AND THE IDF
The olive and the IDF
When they are both full-grown,
Every olive tree on the West Bank
The IDF cuts down.
O the rampaging of settlers
And the rolling of the tanks;
The grinding of the bulldozers
As the olives fall in ranks.
The olive bears a berry
As green as any grass;
When the owners go to pick the fruit
They're not allowed to pass.
O the rampaging of settlers
And the rolling of the tanks;
The grinding of the bulldozers
As the olives fall in ranks.
This oppression bears a berry
As red as any blood,
As the owners see their livelihoods
All trampled into mud.
O the rampaging of settlers,
And the rolling of the tanks;
The grinding of the bulldozers
As the olives fall in ranks.
If you want to buy the olives,
You'll find it very hard;
To those that make it to checkpoints
The way outside is barred.
O the rampaging of settlers,
And the rolling of the tanks;
The grinding of the bulldozers
As the olives fall in ranks.
The olive and the IDF,
When they are both full-grown,
Every olive tree on the West Bank
The IDF cuts down.
WE FOUR KINGS
FOUR KINGS TOGETHER
We four kings, we're called the Quartet;
With a roadmap off we all set,
No-one knowing where we're going,
Or how far we can get.
CHORUS
O, map of wonder, map of light,
Map of promises so bright,
In three phases, through the mazes
Guide us with no end in sight.
1ST KING
I'm King George, the USA man;
And it goes according to plan;
Fighting terror, righting error;
After Iraq, Iran .
CHORUS
O, map of wonder, etc.
2ND KING
I this year am King of EU;
My name's known to more than a few -
Sarkozy; I and Tony
Take from King George our cue.
CHORUS
O map of wonder, etc.
3RD KING
I'm King Putin, Muscovite Tzar,
With this map I travel afar;
I'm partaking in peace-making,
Just like in Chechnya .
CHORUS
O map of wonder, etc.
4TH KING
I'm Ban Ki-Moon, head of UN;
It makes laws again and again,
But ignored is, for the sword is
Mightier than the pen.
CHORUS
O map of wonder, etc..
FOUR KINGS TOGETHER
We four kings, we're all in a flap,
For we've got ourselves in a trap -
Stopped by trenches, walls and fences,
Not marked upon the map.
CHORUS
O map of wonder, etc.
FOUR KINGS TOGETHER
We four kings, bewildered we are,
For this map's not getting us far,
Nowhere leading - for we're needing
Not a map but a star.
CHORUS
O star of freedom, star of light,
Star of peace with justice bright,
Shining ever, they can never
Target-bomb thy perfect light.
