Server Upgrades - January - MySQL5 and more - ALL SERVERS

We are pleased to announce server upgrades scheduled to begin on Friday January 16th 2009.

This upgrade includes an upgrade from MySQL4 to MySQL5 which is why we are providing plenty of notice. It may be the case that you are running old scripts, software or code which will require action by you to be made compatible with MySQL5. This will need to be addressed prior to January 16th 2009 when we will begin a permenant move away from MySQL4 and on to the now current MySQL5.

Other upgrades included in this maintenance will include the control panel (which includes a fix for the MailFoundry MX record bug) Zend Optimiser and also PHP to version 5.2.8. Further minor upgrades will be applied and also an update of the operating system and kernel as required at the time of maintenance.

All upgrades will commence at 9PM on the night that your server has been scheduled for its upgrade below. We anticipate completing the maintenance prior to 9AM the following morning.

During the maintenance window the control panel will be unavailable, all other services remaining online and functional including your websites and email services. Towards the end of the maintenance window there will be approx 2 or 3 minutes of downtime as we reboot the server to complete the maintenance.
