I heard Malalai Joya speak at a Stop the War-organised meeting at Conway Hall in Central London last Thursday - she was absolutely fantastic. She tells it like it is - everyone interested in the occupation of Afghanistan should read her book 'Raising My Voice' (incidently, all profits of book go to humanitarian projects in Afghanistan - and she is a hands-on pperson who will personally ensure dosh goes directly to the grass-roots projects).
What a lady, (she has survived 5 assassination attempts, and only survives due to the one advantage of the 'burqa', (which she detests wearing): it affords a very good disguise), and what a book!
She cannot appear publicly (except with copius local protection) since openly stating before Parliament that it was full of Warlords and Drug Barons, who should be tried for their atrocities instead of being MP's and feted.
Read her book. It is absolutely one of the best books I've ever read (and I'm only half way through it). She speaks, writes and lives for her people.
May God protect and reward her; those of us who pray should remember her in our prayers.
She also said, in the meeting and in her book, that Mohammed Karzai is an American Puppet, and that she wants all the foreign troops out.
Here is a link to the Canadian guy's website who helped her with the book (he was in Conway Hall too):
http://www.rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/derrick/2009/07/malalai-joya-visit s-uk-launch-book-expose-big-lie-afghanistan
As you can see, the Guardian ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jul/25/afghanistan-occupa tion-taliban-warlords ) and Independent ( http://www.rawa.org/temp/runews/2009/07/28/malalai-joya-the-woman-who- will-not-be-silenced.html ) had articles by or about her. And, though she believes the 'Official Story' about 9/11, I don't think she will for long, because I gave her five DVD's (most with two or three videos on, and one of Belinda's excellent, multi-faceted leaflets, with masses of good websites on.
I also managed to ask a question in the hall, 'Do the Afghan people know that Osama bin Laden had nothing to do with 9/11', but the StW people ensured she did not answer that one (they must have been kicking themselves that they hadn't recognised me, otherwise I would not have got 'chosen' to ask question).
Still, not such a bad thing I didn't get an answer, as as I said above, she believes the 'Official' line (but methinks not for long!). _________________ 'And he (the devil) said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them'. Somehow even I sometimes get near despair (but don't worry, I'll keep on ploding and slogging on). Virtually no hits on this thread.
Just in case you're wondering 'So? What's the big deal?', how about this, on an Amazon search:
Your search "Malalai Joya + Raising My Voice" did not match any products.
I've read a lot of books (I'm sure I'm not alone in that), but I think that Malalai's book is the most moving book I have ever read. Yet Amazon doen't stock it? Such a thing!
No sweat; go to <www.rbooks.co.uk> or phone 020 7840 8487.
But please, if you're worried about repercussions, don't bother. BE AWARE: THE NWO DO NOT WANT YOU TO READ MALALAI'S BOOK.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
Can anyone out there boost this? This book is dynamite, re the 'Good War' in Afghanistan. Come on, where is your head? _________________ 'And he (the devil) said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them'. I've hit on the thread, Paul, but unfortunately the sound quality on the video is not good enough for me to make out what she's saying. |

Quote: | Malalai Joya is the youngest and most famous female MP in Afghanistan, whose bravery and vision have won her an international following. She made world headlines with her very first speech, in which she courageously denounced the presence of warlords in the new Afghan government. She has spoken out for justice ever since, and for the rights of women in the country she loves. Raising My Voice shares her extraordinary story.
Born during the Russian invasion and spending her youth in refugee camps, Malalai Joya describes how she first became a political activist. When she returned to Afghanistan, the country was under the grip of the Taliban and she ran a secret school for girls. A popular MP with her constituents, she received global support when she was suspended from parliament in 2007 because of her forthright views.
Malalai Joya's work has brought her awards and death threats in equal measure. She lives in constant danger. In this gripping account, she reveals the truth about life in a country embroiled in war - especially for the women - and speaks candidly about the future of Afghanistan, a future that has implications for us all.

The reporting from Afghanistan on today's news bulleting has been disgusting and even laughable. They are trying to present foreign troops as social workers with guns.....
...there to bring the Afghans democracy, freedom and education for little girls.
Imperialism? Trying to establish regional hegemony?
What!!!
The thought never crossed my mind, gov.
The British ambassador in Kabul even had the nerve to mention the 'War on Drugs'. This indescribably cynical rewriting of history and distorting of current reality was a laugh-out-loud moment that disappeared from later bulletins.
Britain and the USA will be forced out of Afghanistan long before the 30 or 40 years, that are promised in this 'generational war', are up. The American Empire is financially on the point of collapse. Surely Russia and China will never tolerate a resolution to the coming financial crisis that leaves the US army swaggering aroud their borders.
If no deal can be done then The Chinese will surely drive 'us' (the poor fools risking their lives in service of western banking interests) out of Afghanistan with little difficulty.
We are in a most dire situation. The future in the short term is terrifying indeed. |
