Strange maths. We recently lose a dozen or so soldiers in Afghanistan so they send out 125 more to make up levels.

Another 125 British troops are to be sent to Afghanistan to maintain force levels after a recent spate of deaths and injuries.
More troops to be sent to Afghanistan The Ministry of Defence announced it would keep troop numbers at about 9,000 - to which they have recently been increased from 8,300.
The deployment will include specialists to tackle improvised explosives devices - one of the main threats to forces on the ground.
Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth said: "I have always said that I will listen to the view of commanders on the ground in Afghanistan - they are the people best placed to know the resources needed for that operation.
"In this case they have told me that, after the sad and tragic casualty rate that we have suffered in recent weeks, reinforcements are necessary to ensure we can maintain our operational tempo and consolidate the real progress we have made."
Serving soldier Joe Glenton spoke at a Stop the War rally last Thursday night about why he thinks the war in Afghanistan is wrong and why he's not going back. Also on the platform was Malalai Joya the courageous Afghan MP who spoke out about the domination of the parliament by warlords, drug traffickers and fundamentalists.
The old warning of international socialists still rings true: workers should not allow themselves to be dragged into capitalist wars where they will slaughter each other over and over again. The only reason that our capitalist rulers succeed in recruiting us is because of a deep tribalism that affects many humans and which they mistake for patriotism.
Only a few will question the sanity of war. Joe Glenton is one of those. And for having the courage to do so he should earn all our support. Please email him your support c/o office@stopwar.org.uk

News ArticleGuardsman Christopher King killed in Afghanistan
A Military Operations news article
23 Jul 09
It is with great regret that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Guardsman Christopher King, of 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, was killed in Afghanistan on 22 July 2009.
A little about the lad and others like him the papers will not tell you.
The school , often more interested in its outward profile (lets see if we can get this status or this label to hang outside) he went to would each year have the army in to sweet talk them into seeing the army as an option, take them on adventure days on assault courses or painttballing/laser quest type ventures. All great fun, they would come home with their faces in camoflage paint. They would struggle academically at school only to leave with little or no qualifications, kick around the local parks for a year or so getting into trouble even getting into drugs and stuff. Years ago the options of working in pit or shipbuilding or labouring to make a life were there. Now these have gone and the armed services are often the only direction to try and make something out of an otherwise hopeless life. Chris could be commended for at least trying to make something of his life, others still just kick around the park getting their dole check each week with slowly dying souls, but their still physically alive and perhaps dont carry the scars and responsibilities of having killed innocents in a politicians war.
My thoughts are with your parents Chris but i see you as another casualty of our deceitful ideological political leaders rather than serving queen, country and me. I dont usually drink but i think i will have a pint with my son in remembrance of you. _________________ JO911B.
