Space Mission Bible Study
by Roundtable (author of CFR, The Roadshow Of Deception)

An intriguing aspect of Space Exploration is the chance of discovering other intelligent life forms. One problem is how to determine how intelligent the life form is? Another problem is what information to share with them? An interesting Bible study could center on the question, "If you discovered a new life form what one lesson from the Bible would you share with it and why?"

A good answer would be "The Golden Rule." It could be used to discover how intelligent the new life form is. "The Golden Rule" simplifies all God's rules and guidelines into a single rule, indicating great intelligence. No creature in the universe can simplify "The Golden Rule," making human beings among the most intelligent creatures in the universe. If the new life form already discovered "The Golden Rule" you know they are very intelligent and that we have something very important in common. If the civilization has not yet discovered "The Golden Rule" you will have given them a gift that can make life better for all.

The Golden Rule forms a common bond between all intelligent life on earth. At least three human beings discovered and taught "The Golden Rule." Confucius, and Mohammed taught, "Don't do to others that which you wouldn't have others do unto you." Christ taught, "Do unto others that which you would have others do unto you." Discovery, preservation, and application of "The Golden Rule," prove human beings are intelligent enough to sit by the hand of God.

God's commandments form the foundation of the Old and the New Testaments tying them together. Christ believed the greatest and first commandment was, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." If you break any of the Ten Commandments, you break this commandment. Christ believed the second most important commandment was "Love thy neighbor as thyself," teaching us to consider others when we make choices governing our actions. (Matthew 22:34, Mark 12:2Cool Christ believed keeping the commandments was the way to obtain eternal life (Matthew 19:16).

From these commandments Christ forged a new commandment, "do unto others as you would have others do unto you." (Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31) Living by "The Golden Rule," helps people keep all God's commandments. "The Golden Rule," is the simplest, most elegant rule and guideline for acting intelligently.

Intelligence is analyzing a problem to determine what has to be done, designing different solutions to solve the problem, and evaluating the different solutions to choose the best one. Acting intelligently is acting in one's own best interest and at the same time in the best interest of all.

Choosing solutions in the best interest of all makes our own life better. We have a past we can be proud of. A future free from guilt because of poor decisions made in the past. A future in which those around us have less problems caused by our poor decisions, allowing them to think more clearly, making it less likely they will make a poor decision that will create problems for us.

The less problems we have the more time we can devote to those who have been loyal to us -- our family, our friends, our co-workers, and the members of our faith.

The less problems we have the more time we can devote to serve people we don't know but who might need a helping hand in time of trouble. The less problems we have the more time we can devote to better health. If we remain physically and mentally healthy we have less problems for ourselves and are less of a problem to others.

John 13:34 should read, "A new commandment I give to you, do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

If you discovered a new life form what one lesson from the Bible would you share with it and why?

That's very worthy Tony but the basic formula for life is 'eat or be eaten' the rules of nature, HAVING said that, the human animal has no serious predator and needs regulation to prevent it hunting the biosophere that sustains us into extinction, which may upset all the fundermentalist libertarians around here.
I thought it funny on that BBC 'THE BIG QUESTIONS ' show Sunday morning, a few weeks ago where, I kid you not, there were right wingers arguing Jesus, if he were her today, would vote tory! isn't a basic tenet of Christanity...thou shalt not steal or Thou shalt not bare false witness? lying and stealing the building blocks of unfettered , free-for-all, every person to their greed capitalism!
That's my five penn'th!

On a similar vane after watching a video of the Lake District and a bit about William Wordsworth i was wondering how as human beings we could possibly have evolved the ability to appreciate the beauty of nature, verse, song etc.
So if it were at all possible i would pass on that ability to appreciate and thank.

"John 13:34 should read, "A new commandment I give to you, do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

Matthew
7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the Law and the Prophets.

There is a good reason why it's written this way.

11. YOU shall love one another as much as I love you and in the same way - spiritually not physically - John 15 v 13. IF you DO this, ALL men will KNOW that you ARE my disciples and are exercising and learning "Self" discipline - Discipleship.
