A significant development, I think. I watched it last night. I thought the Uzbek guy was very credible for the most part, though I reckon he was, very understandably, lying when he answered the question of whether he had actually committed or ordered torture. I don't imagine he'll survive long, but he seemed to be ready to die.

I think everyone must have a breaking point, and Ikram Yakubov reached his at false flag terrorism. I think we can learn from this, and try to apply it to our domestic situation.
There must be many agents at a lowly level, who are doing comparatively minor things, like undermining member associations, political parties, smearing victims, twisting the news, etc. They will somehow justify that to themselves, perhaps just by thinking that it's not their responsibility to think about the implications; they are just doing their job.
But what happens when it's put to them that it's just because of people like them that the Nazis gained power? They may not be in the more extreme groups that are murdering people, but by going along with it they become complicit.
Some of them must start to feel uncomfortable. That's why I think we should welcome them into the fold when they do open up, even though they may be compromised themselves.
In the case of Ikram Yakubov, he was clearly brought up to think that that way of life was normal. Eventually he broke from that. Best of luck to him.
