How is the idea of "security" used by the state / establishment interests?

I thought I would ask this question as I'm interested in pondering different views other then those found in text books! I look forward to reading some intelligent analysis.

I think this is relevent to the debate.

Hi,

I've done a Masters in International Security and I'm still not sure.

Absolutely, security is an idea ... not an objective reality. Security is a social construction / a speech act / a value ...used for a particular group to create boundaries and borders to further their own interests.
