If your age 40-69 You may be getting a letter from your local NHS inviting you to take part in providing lifestyle and health information, family history your work along with standard medical tests, blood (3 tablespoons)and urine samples (saliva not mentioned) for long term storage, analysis and genetic data
It will contain provisional appointment for you at a local centre.
The letter also has your details and id as a bar code.
Reason??

This appears to be a rehash of a previously attempted scheme which received condemnation as a US firm was to get your medical data UNLESS you opted out

NHS Care Records Opt Out Scam
NHS wanting to centralise all your medical records into one database giving you partial access and "selected" health workers access. They admit a slight security risk but in the long run beneficial.
This will be done automatically unless you opt out. In order to opt out you can download an opt out form from their website. However what the website doesnt tell you is where to send the opt out form, so naturally you pop it in the prepaid envelope (addressed to NHS Care Records Service ) that came with the original information.
However; reading the small print on the back of this envelope reveals that its contents will be destroyed if it is used for any other purposes than requesting further information. So your "opt out form" will be destroyed and your care records will be centralised on the database whilst you believe you have opted out.
On calling the helpline it transpires the Opt out forms should be returned to you GP.
Seems like they are trying all means to make it difficult to opting out.

Thanks. Never knew that website existed.
I was not that bothered about my records being centralised but because of the underhand ways they seem to be adopting I thought i would at least exercise my right to opt out.
