On April 28, the Atlantic Council's annual Awards Dinner will honor Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States, for his distinguished international leadership that led to the Dayton Accords, peace negotiations in Northern Ireland, NATO enlargement and NAFTA, among other accomplishments during his presidency.
Dr. Josef Ackermann, Chairman of the Management Board and the Group Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank AG, will be presented the Distinguished Business Leadership Award for the remarkably powerful role that Deutsche Bank, under his stewardship, has assumed in international banking and finance, as well as for the leading role he is taking in the recovery and stabilization of financial markets.
The Council will present its very first Humanitarian Leadership Award to Bono, the lead singer of U2 and Co-Founder of ONE and (RED), for his efforts in mobilizing resources and awareness in fighting disease and extreme poverty in Africa, as well as for his work to address other pressing humanitarian challenges.
The Distinguished Military Leadership Awards will be presented jointly to General Stéphane Abrial, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, and to General James Mattis, USMC, Commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command, for their leadership at a critical time as the Alliance took on its biggest and most important mission to secure and reconstruct Afghanistan, as well as for playing key roles in paving the way for France’s full re-entry into NATO.
The evening will feature remarks from all honorees.
For nearly half a century, the Atlantic Council has promoted constructive U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic community in meeting the most pressing global challenges. Each year, our Awards Dinner, one of the most visible and exciting Washington black tie events, brings together more than 800 leaders from the United States, Europe and beyond to honor the individuals who have made exceptional and distinctive contributions to the strengthening of the transatlantic relationship. Our distinguished guests of the evening include senior members of the administration, members of Congress, former heads of state, ambassadors and global business leaders.

And how do you know that exactly DD?
Do you have some particular insight into his finances?
He may be annoying doing all this charity thing so publicly, as opposed to quietly, humbly and privately, but surely the fact that he's doing it must count for something, no?

Maybe I am biased but he sure does hang out with some dodgy characters at dodgy pro Isreal/Zionist venues, but I could be reading that the wrong way

Charity nowadays is the victorian equivalent of the very rich pretending they doing something honourable.

Charity status equals no corporation tax but does not limit salary payouts. You can pay yourself an enormous amount having gathered large funds through the goodwill of people and then not paying hardly anything out. Recently it was Prince Harry I think or Fergie involved in some such dodgy deal...
Its a 'legal' scam much like running a business in the UK and being the primary owner but having it registered in Monaco to avoid tax on dividend payments like the owner of Topshop and BHS, Phillip Green. |

www.taxresearch.org.uk developing countries lose between €260 and €370 billion every year as a result of tax evasion. African Union, an organisation to help try and bring African countries together to combat common difficulties says that tax dodging by foreign companies costs it $150 billion a year - three times what it receives in aid.
Aid in reality doesn't exist. Africa is being bled dry by multinational corporations pure and simple. |

May be Analyst, I don't know.
However, this is hardly something Bono can be blamed for.
Also, aid is a different topic to debt relief, which immediately eases the burden on the governments in Africa and frees up resources to be used elsewhere in more meaningful ways.
As for your other assertions:

Who are 'they' exactly? What are their agendas? Who finances them?
Do you know?
Or do you just assume they're benevolent just because they engage in 'Bono-bashing' and Bono is rich and famous and talks too much?
I'd like to see all the jealous Bono-bashers first do 1/1,000 of what Bono has done to raise awareness for important matters or go out of his way to help people...and then pass judgment.
The guy was talking about Nicaragua and El Salvador in the '80s and suddenly 25 years later he's a NWO pawn?
