The picture speaks for itself. The corporate media, including the BBC, feast upon the carcass of so-called democracy. You do not have a say. You are 'required' to leave this to those in the know, the elite, the 'whisperers'.
Even whilst the struggle in Greece, and other countries, continues, farcically reported in the news to maintain the interests of the status quo and corporate interests, within the UK an archaic and fundamentally undemocratic system (by any meaning of the word) is weighing up how much pain they can inflict upon the population of Britain to protect the corporate intersts of the capitalist and land owning elite.
Yet at the same time what an opportunity! People will see this for the farce this is!

Registers of interests, gifts and hospitality
Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and staff abide by a code of conduct, part of which requires them to declare any interests, and any gifts or hospitality which they have received or offered. A separate register is published for Directors, and Heads of the Commission's office in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The registers are updated periodically, and the one for the Chair, Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners is available here:

What got me was that the voting implements were pencils.
I was expecting to hear reports of record countrywide shipments of erasers at around 10pm.
It always struck me as slightly repulsive the clone-like quality between Cameron and Clegg. If it wasnt't for the live debate and seeing them in the same room together I coulda sworn they were the same person.
There are a lot of stories of people getting preferential treatment in polling queues and large numbers being turned away.
The Times and Daily Mail have carried stories about people being turned away at the Polls before closing time and I have come across posts on the web where people have stated they were given queue jump preferential treatment after their polling card was checked and they were told they lived in the right street.

Interesting that Brown resigned today before the Lib/Con deal is done.
Pressure on Brown from Millibands, Mandelson?
Piles pressure on Lib Dem MPs to agree to a bad deal struck by City boy Clegg. The impressionable lightweight has not even got his own department.
The new politics?

UK Electoral Commission admits access to voter database is not monitored
Warwick Ashford - Computer Weekly - Tuesday 18 May 2010
The UK Electoral Commission does not have any system to monitor and log access of and changes to the voter database, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed.
According to the commission, local authorities manage their own electoral registers and send monthly updates to the commission.
This means here is no central point of control, said Guy Churchward, chief executive at log management company LogLogic, which submitted the FOI request.
"How the updates are sent and whether any of the local authorities have monitoring systems in place is not clear," he said.
The commission said the electoral register information is accessed only on a need-to-know basis.
These access permissions are controlled by the ICT team according to an agreed policy and procedure that requires obtaining appropriate authority......

General Election 2010: Electoral Commission accused over 'third world' ballot
Jenny Watson, the chairman of the Electoral Commission, was accused this morning of presiding over a “third world” ballot amid farcical scenes at polling stations.
Miss Watson conceded that the results in many constituencies are likely to be challenged because of shambolic organisation which left thousands of people unable to vote.
But she admitted that the Commission had no power to punish returning officers responsible for the chaos, and attempted to dodge any personal blame by suggesting the “Victorian” electoral system was at fault.
Miss Watson, who worked at a series of quangos before joining the independent electoral regulator in 2009, said: “Electoral law is very clear. The doors must be shut at 10 o’clock and anyone issued with a ballot paper before 10 o’clock must be allowed to vote. No-one can be issued with a ballot paper after 10 o’clock even if they are inside the polling station.
“The returning officers should have done what the law says. If they haven’t done that they may well be subject to election petitions.
“Clearly we are going to look at this, clearly parliament will look at this and it may well be that the law will have to change.”
Although individual returning officers in each council are legally responsible for the operation of the election, the Commission is supposed to ensure the smooth running of the system.
The watchdog has a staff of around 150 people and a budget of around £25million.
Miss Watson, who was formerly chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission and earns £100,000 in her current role, promised a “thorough review” of what had happened in constituencies.
But it appeared that no clear advice had been given to polling stations about what to do if there were still queues of voters at 10pm.
Asked why there had been so many problems, Miss Watson blamed everyone but herself............
